  • Dashcam, for training new truck drivers, working in the Ports of Los Angeles, moving shipping containers and cranes. What to expect, when going to the ports for the first time.

The title should say driving in the ports and not making any money I did that shift for years there's no money in it. The time you look for a chassis get a reefer unit put on get a flat fix get electrical work done for it all that time you sit in the terminal you're not getting paid for it then you going to go sit in line for an hour or two

You are completely right about the title! 😅

At this time, the ports are empty, because the shipping boats are not coming to Los Angeles, like they used to. You would be surprised how quickly we get in and out right now!

No owner operator should be working at the ports due to the slowness of unions and LA traffic. Union guys at the ports take hour lunch at or around 10pm; who pays for your time waiting there?. Instead work for union company driver that pays hourly with OT for all the time spent even when terminal is on break. Union also pays for pension and health insurance. Mine is at 30/hr ot 45/hr

100% agree with you! I am an employee with hourly pay. 😊
