I lost my Tabby kitten Maggie to FIP in 2005. Our Siamese Lily who was also still a kitten had fought the virus off. I had adopted Maggie after losing my first Siamese Tico and she crossed on Tico's first rainbow birthday at 8 months old. I felt comforted knowing Tico would be there to greet Maggie. My vet to comfort me, pointed out that we had given Maggie in her short life a life she might not have had otherwise. Good Lord meant me to care for her while she was here and I'm thankful I could.
Summer is my absolute favorite cat from your cattery and it was really heartbreaking to find out about Summer being sick. Seeing her in pain in this video made me cry. I am so glad she is doing so much better. Thank you for sharing the update and for creating awareness about FIP.
Thank you for sharing Summer’s story as it helps to raise awareness of this horrible disease and that treatment is available. FIP warriors are heroes having helped save my boy Loki 4 years ago. The journey I went through is not only tough on your beloved kitty but an emotional roller coaster ride for the parent. If you even suspect FIP I cannot stress how important it is to seek help and begin treatment ASAP. Not all vets are experienced with FIP or knowledgeable about the cure that is available - in Australia for the past 2 years it is also available via vets. I’m very happy to see Summer responded so well to the treatment.💕💕
My cat Felix is 4.5 years old. He was diagnosed with FIP two weeks ago. He’s lucky that FIP medication was just legalized in Canada a couple months ago. It’s just two pills every 24 hrs for 3 months and then 1 pill for another 3 months. Watching the needle shot broke my heart. Summer is lucky to have such great parents like you two. I’m glad you’re out of that dark place where you thought you could lose summer forever. So heart warming to see Heidi and summer together during this hard time.
So proud of you and Summer 🥺💖 my cat Elle had FIP last year and the battle was long and hard for all of us. We are so happy to have a healthy girl again! All of the money, shots, and hard moments were so worth it🐱 I’m so happy you have your healthy Summer back!
Summer was the reason I started following you Pearl. It absolutely broke my heart when she started to get sick and I am just so so happy that she has recovered so well. Thank you for taking care of her ❤
I have followed this journey with you and sweet Miss Summer and have even prayed over it. So grateful you have a testimony to share and help others with. Summer is a great mother and grandmother! And I love that Heidi help take care of her it brought tears to my eyes. Thank you Jesus for healing her
I’m so happy sweet Summer has recovered! You and Justin did such a great job advocating for her, and administering all her treatments, that must have been so hard for you both. I’m wishing Summer many more happy and healthy years enjoying her grandma time! ❤
So happy Summer is better. I have been taking my cats to a feline specialty vet for many years & have found it mak s a tremendous difference in their care. They don’t bat an eye at “bad kitty” behavior and have been nothing but kindness with my cats when illness strikes. My current kitty has stage one renal disease and probable liver lymphoma. She’s 14.5 years old & other than meds, we decided not to be aggressive with treatment. She is very thin but eats well & is generally happy, so she’s living her best life for niw. It’s difficult to see them ill but sometimes less is more loving, especially for elderly cats.
Its very sad when one of your kittys is sick. So glad you found a place where they treat FIP. Summer is looking much better. Even though it was tough for you to see her hurting after her shots, you helped her because of the love for your precious kitty. I had to give insulin shots to a kitty i had for diabetes. He lived to be 21yrs. 🐈❤
Aww! I’m so glad Summer is feeling better! She’s such a beautiful kitty, and she’s very lucky to have you. Your observations and quick thinking saved her life, and this video could save other cats too. Get well soon to Freya as well!
My ragdoll was diagnosed last September and was declared FIP free in January 🤍 For anyone going through this and scared of the shots: our vet recommended the oral medication as she had seen more improvement with that over the injections so we opted for just the oral - it was a life saver!!!
I think the video of Summer carrying her kitten to see your baby was the first video I saw. I almost died from cuteness. I loved it so much I immediately subscribed. Justin was wonderful helping you with doing the shots. I hope Summer understood your were doing it for her own health as cats can hold a grudge.
We have foster failed two FIP survivors 💜 amazing progress is being made in veterinary medicine. So grateful that so many cats are getting a second chance at life because of this treatment.
Had no idea FIP was a thing. Wow, that’s scary. Ragdolls are so chill and laid back, it’s sad seeing something like this happen to them. Glad to see she perked back up though!!
Thank you for sharing this experience -it will be a big help to other cat owners and give hope to many owners .. Treatment is fortunately available in some countries from vets - and through FIP warriors
We lost our first cat to FIP. She was an old cat and would get sick on occasion, which we learnt to let her heal on her own, so at the start we didn’t think anything was too wrong. When it started to get worse we took her to the vet, they said that her stomach was enlarged but if it was normal nothing was wrong, and that we should just take her home and keep an eye on it. She slowly got worse, she wouldn’t eat and she would barely move. This happened during the holidays so the vets were closed often. The day before we took her to the vet again she could barely walk. When we took her in they did some tests and told us she would have to be put down. We didn’t want to give up, we took her to 2 different vets after that, the last one being a cat hospital. But by that point fluid had started to fill in her lungs and she couldn’t breathe. They extracted the fluid to get her stable but presentation us with 2 options. We ended up deciding it would be better to put her down, as the other option would impact her life forever and it wasn’t confirmed it would work. I’m so glad you were able to recognize it in Summer and give her the necessary treatment!
The symptoms are what my cat had and none of the vets told me about FIP. She is now gone but it breaks my heart that she didn't get the treatment she needed. 😭

Her meowing actually broke my heart so badly. She was in so much pain 😞 thank you for helping her fight!
Me too…😢
It’s so heartbreaking when your fur-baby is sick. I’m so glad Summer is recovering and living her best life being a grandma. ❤

What a strong girl ❤ also I can only imagine how hard that must have been for you. So happy she's back to her Summery self!
Summer fought FIP and survived to become a sweet grandmother to Heidi's children. ❤🤗
Summer is a brave sweetheart ❤️ I cried 😢when she was so sick and look at her now she is such a loving mother ❤❤
In my country there is no treatment for FIP, so I lost my cat Leon back in march. I still miss him. I'm glad yours survived. ❤❤❤

The amount of love you give Summer is the cause of her healing ... believe me ...
Woohoo! Your proactive love got Summer through her ''Winter.' I'm going to do my best 'old guy wasn't crying' impersonation now.

What is the oral medication? Can you share it?
I lost my tabby, Onyx, in 2022 to FIP. One of my deepest heartbreaks. I’m so happy to see Summer doing better. 😻 what a blessing.

I’m so sorry for your loss. What a tragic experience. We need more awareness of FIP and get this treatment legalized worldwide
