The way they had Hermione just solving everything made Ron and sometimes even Harry seem pointless to the story. As to the second quidditch match, it's just behind the potions puzzle on the list of things I wish they'd left in the first movie.
The way rowling put all those hints in the first book itself actually shows how much she she had already planned for the story. Harry thinking Snape reading minds (Legilimency) and Neville's subtle gowth and courage. Aside from the golden trio, Neville is the only student (from their year) we actually get good conversations.
They do that constantly. Harry or Ron make a breakthrough or come up with the solution... but they give it to Hermione. It's a real problem with how Hermione is represented, she's made the perfect and unflappable.
Even in “The Cursed Child” she’s the Minister of Magic. I was like, “ Of course she is.” 🙄 I’m all for women to be recognized and be successful but come on. Once in a while I wanted Hermione to actually be wrong about something. Poor Ron was made to look like a buffoon in the films but in the books he was a very brave person. Oh yeah he could be a typical brooding teenage boy who gets pissy with his friends at times but most of the time he was pretty cool and extremely loyal. I know everyone says, “ But he ABANDONED Harry and Hermione in the search for horcruxes!! He’s a coward!” I think what people don’t understand is that Ron was extremely terrified for his family and what happening in their world. Plus being on the run with his two friends was equally terrifying and survival was eminent, so when he stormed out of the tent and into the night, it was out of anger, frustration, fear (not in a bad way) and he literally just needed to cool off. His fierce love for his two friends drove him to finally come back and I’ll always remember his reaction of pure fear helplessness when he heard Hermione’s screams while she was being tortured by Bellatrix.

To be honest, i don't think that "Snape can read minds."-thing should be overinterpreted. Snape is a master at Occlumency rather than Legilimency after all, and whenever he tried to invade Harrys mind during his occlumency lessons he had to use a spell and let Harry relive the memories Snape was looking at. Sure, he might be skilled enough to sense whether someone is lying or so, but flat out reading minds without the other noticing it... ? Although i am not sure about his abilities in that field of magic (he was at last a decent legilimens after all), i think him beeing able to just read Harrys mind whenever they met would create a clusterf*ck of problems for the plot...
I'm sort of in two minds about the Hermione got the credit in the movie thing. Harry doesn't exactly find Flamel, but merely a reference that helps gives them the crucial starting point in terms of research (something that wouldn't be know to kids today who can look it up on there phones). Hermione has the book that gives the information, but it's possible that she was merely reading when she found the reference and the information in one shot. A deleted scene sort of shows this whole thing with the chocolate frog card, and Neville under the leg locker curse. I'm not sure of deleting it was a bad idea, because while in the books they help him, in the scene, the moment they find Flamel they are off, and Neville is left to fall over.
They spent so much time on the chocolate frogs on the train, i was sure the movie would use the call back later. was really disappointed they didn't. I'm curious when Cedric became the seeker for Hufflepuff. This short match might have been JK's way of hiding who the seeker was, ending the match before we could see how skilled Cedric really was.

Even on one of the thinner books like this first book it would take hours and hours to tell that full story.
