    The reason it would not connect is not because of router proximity or chance. It's because when Luba is first asking for a Wifi password, it is really asking for their password. You first have to put in the Luba password before the router password. Eventually it connects, because eventually you have signed in to Mammotion. It's just a very poor communications issue in the app.
    I received my Luba 2 AWD 10000 a month ago in Minnesota USA. Here are a few of my positives and negatives so far:
    Positives:
    No grass on driveway
    Quiet
    I can do other things while mowing
    Makes nice straight lines
    Safer than mowing myself
    It can mow in the dark
    Approximately the same equipment cost as riding mowers
    Negatives:
    Drives across cut area at an angle to recharge, messing up the lines
    Always gets stuck downhill out of a mow zone (doesn't purposely stay on the uphill side)
    Shuts off and sits there at random, especially when it's time to recharge
    Doesn't turn while rolling (stops to make turns, very inefficient)
    Charger must be out in the open, not protected under a roof
    Can't mow long winding strips
    Not stable when flipped over doing blade maintenance (poor top shape)
    No suitcase-style handle
    No 5G in my area
    Thank you for your video!

      The charger can be under a roof, just not a permanent one. It needs to be positioned properly during setup so then it needs satellite access. Once setup is done and it knows where the charging station and RTK are, then you can cover the charging station. Starting operations, the Luba will come out from under its roof by driving forward, and then it'll acquire its position.

      I have purchased a Luba 5000 AWD and can honestly say it is absolute junk. It works for a few months and then the latest revs confuse it as it cannot intelligently decipher new satellite information and goes onto a positioning mode and does not leave the charging station after multiple hours of set-up. Luba has no telephone support (UNBELIEVABLE), and their chat line is on hold for 4 hours as this inferior product has so many dissatisfied customers with inoperable units. The chat service is the worst in the robotic business and they have no engineering capabilities. I got better service from 99% of my smart homme devices then this over-hyped neophyte company with no history or pedigree in the mower business. I am an engineer and can do many fixes but after 10 screenshots and 5 app feedbacks ..nada/ziltch from Mammotion. Hey forget about the BS of 2 year warranty as you will probably never get a RMA from them as they are truly a a non-starter for claiming to be a bona-fida mower firm. You will have a boat anchor in a short time. Believe me I learned the hard way, avoid Luba like a plague.

    I use an old husqvarna 220AC with added wifi (8266) and installed tasmota on it. I control it with homeassistant and the total setup was 220 euro's. I don't think this Luba will beat this. And it was a lot of fun to install and finetune.

    thanks for covering. I have been holding off on robot mower also due to dependencies like perimeter wires, RTK only, etc (US market). I will say ride on mowers common for lawns like mine 3000 Sq. M plus (whether electric or fuel) are in a similar price range as this robot.
    I thought you were going to show HA integration announcement :), ha ha. From a smart home perspective, I guess if I get this, I could still piece together via Alexa/Google connections. Also, fortunately, my fully kiosk / Sharptools dashboards allow some stitching of disparate Android apps together in one place.

    That looks a lovely lawn mower and great that you train it on your lawn and then it navigates by differential GPS.
    But ooh, the price. As you said, its a high end machine. I would be tempted if it were more around the €500 mark. Much as though I don’t like lawn mowing I can put up with it at that price…. 😂

      @@awestrope74 Hi! It's performing great for me. I positioned the base station on my patio away from the lawn and created a channel between the base station and my lawn. This way, the robot first moves to the lawn and then starts mowing. Part of my lawn doesn't have much grass, so I didn't include that part to be mowed. Otherwise the robot kills the young and fragile grass that I sowed there.

    Hi Ed, we have been looking for a robot mower, and are considering one which works based on GPS. I have been close to ordering a Husqvarna one, but decided to wait for next year, which is this year :). Now the big question we still have: we do not live in a football stadium or something alike, but have several large trees surrounding our ~ 40mx30m garden. I have a few spots of a few m2 where GPS coverage might be less ideal (no clue, gut feeling). Any idea what this means in a more practicle? Will it say 'error' and stop working, or just buffer things, or..? Also, how do you objectively judge it's actual mowing performance? Greetings from Ermelo on the Veluwe from a fellow HA fan and fan of your YT channel! :) Martin

    • @BastiDevil80
      @BastiDevil80 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I have the same concerns regarding the GPS navigation. We also have several large trees and our garden is shaped like a C around the house. I assume that one positioning device will not be sufficient. I also don't know if more then one of these positioning devices are supported at a time

    • @SmartHomeJunkie
      @SmartHomeJunkie  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      I believe only the RTK unit needs a clear view to the sky for GPS connection. The mower communicates with the RTK unit. It does not communicate directly using GPS.

    • @desertaip9137
      @desertaip9137 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Ed, I think you may be mistaken there. RTK uses the calculated difference between the stationary reference and the robot receiver. A single GPS fix is not mm accurate, regardless of whether the receiver is stationary or not. As the satellites move overhead the area of probability (AOP) enlarges and shrinks. RTK overlays the two AOPs from the two receivers and eliminates the areas which do not overlap. The third input is the calculated vector (direction and distance) between the receiving station and the robot. So the robot need LOS to the sky (most of the time). It can make inferences to position if the robot loses LOS for a bit as long as it still communicates with the reference station, but accuracy degrades some.

    • @SmartHomeJunkie
      @SmartHomeJunkie  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@desertaip9137 Thank you for this. I will double check at Mammotion. As far as what has been told to me this far is that the RTK unit should have a clear view to the sky. The robot itself is mowing below a big tree on my lawn without any issues.

Also, I have a small pond in the corner of the garden. I do hope the no-go areas work good enough to make sure it will not just ride into it, because in theory it could haha. There's lawn, then tiles (20-30cm or so) and then it would simple plump into the pond.. :)
