My list for lyricists are: MC Ren, D.O.C., Kool Keith, Common, Chino XL (although some may not agree with me, but I think he can definitely rhyme), Kurupt, Kool G Rap, Scarface, RBX, and Zev Love X a-k-a MF Doom. That is considered my top ten. And if I have to add an eleventh one, that would be the GZA.
Absolutely by far my favorite rapper and producer. Untouchable is a sonic masterpiece. Mr Mr Scarface should be lauded for talking about the ptsd and mental toll that comes with being a street brotha. For real we old heads feel blessed to have Brad. For real bigger than PAC and Biggie for many of us. Clean ass crisp production and southern soul. DJ Aktion wasn’t it?
Yup, "The Untouchable" is my favorite Scarface album. The production on that album is immaculate. The thing about Rap-A-Lot Records was, they had a dope ass in-house production team back in the 90's and early 2000's. You got Scarface himself, Mike Dean, NO Joe, Mr. Lee, Tone Capone, Nottz, Domo, etc....

Mr. Scarface is back is a monumental album! So many artists took his blueprint and used it for themselves. And I’m talking about some of the greats! For example G Rap used this entire concept for his album Live and Let Die.

He was introspective too, not quite deep as Face tho (Home Sweet Home, Edge Of Sanity). But Mr Scarface's beats and Face's depth and range of hard/introspective lyricism set a bar for G rap to reach for.

Scarface is a timeless legend. His music he made 20,25 and 30+ years ago still gets mad play. I feel what he said "Why don't the youngins in the game today don't make music that don't last long like his? Too many one hit wonders in this game.
I know they had a lot of incarnations, but I saw the Geto Boys generally as interchangeable thug/pimp, philosopher, and jester characters on the same joints. Tried and tested formula through centuries, but the way they flipped it, gave it a cinematic Southern tang, and brought in elements from both coasts, was mind blowing at the time. Mind of a Lunatic and City Under Siege on the same album is one example of how powerful and diverse this collective could be. From a UK perspective, it was also a crazy window into what life could be like in the Fifth Ward.
I'm from Houston and to clarify something Willie D is from 5th Ward which is on the Northside, Face is South Acres which is on the Southeast side. Being from Houston it warms my heart to continually see the worldwide love for the Geto Boys and Mr. Brad Scarface Jordan.
