Masta Ace is a legend.. . Great story teller MC. Very professional, and humble, and didn't utter a curse word. Love the fact he stays focus, straight forward and didn't compromise to be something he's not. Glad he's receiving his flowers!
The song spoke so much of Ace’s artistry and ability. He captured Biz’s flow and cadence in the dopest ways. The rhymes make you feel like Biz when you say em 🙌🏾👑🫡
The puppet in the video bought the song to life. It was very fitting. Biz was considered the clown prince of rap back then. The my buddie doll was popular during that time.
The song is iconic. The Biz puppet was iconic. For us, young heads back then, it made us love Biz more and solidified Masta Ace as one of the greatest emcees.
As a kid growing up in the 90s, I loved that song. It's a classic and one of Master Ace's dopest joints. Plus we loved Biz Markie. As a young naive kid, I thought it was a tribute song.🤷🏽♂
Masta Ace.....a true, fluid, organic MC. He's better than most of these "famous" rappers. He writes like a poet and rides the beat with perfection. Much love from the West Coast brother!
I worked at a PBS station in Jackson Mississippi and they had a show called "Between the Lions" and the people there were obsessed with not touching the puppets or having any type of interaction with the puppets without the person who was assigned to that puppet being around. It was a really weird energy in that studio, almost like the puppet was a parallel to a "Voodoo Doll"!
Great interview. That whole Take a Look Around album was dope. As far as Me and the Biz single, I thought it was fire and I definitely thought it really was Biz performing on the song. When I found out later during that time that it was Masta Ace, I was like damn he fooled the hell outta me lol. To echo what Marley said, that made the song that much dope. Salute!
RIP to the Diabolical Biz, I believe that Biz was sincere when he told Ace that he was good with it and to let it go. I believe Biz knew the politics, especially being a new artists and more importantly probably knew how Marley was going to deal with it. If Biz said it was all good then it was all good. Respect to Master Ace.
Peace to the gods and goddesses all over the world. Masta Ace and Lord Digga are real ones. Slaughterhouse was on tour and stopped through my city Montgomery, Alabama bacc in 94 courtesy of Michael London (SNA) and I asked him and Lord Digga the name of a break they used on the album at the time but I couldn't find it because I didn't know the name of it. They told me it was The 5 Stairsteps - Don't Change Your Love.
Love the song. Would have been better with Biz as planned.....but I was blown away with how similar ace sounded just made me think about the skills he had.
Wow... a dope hip-hop story. Typed and deleted a whole paragraph reflecting my memories of this single (Me And The Biz) and the role it played in the early 90's fabric (fresh out the 80s) - Decided to say less. ART IS TO BE RELEASED (Don't regret - it was a dope show of artistry). Will also say, Master Ace has an incredible slept-on emcee range - "The Symphony" x "Me And The Biz" x "*Saturday Night Live" x "Born To Roll" x "SlaughtaHouse" x "Sittin' On Chrome" and so on. A dope artist.
Masts Ace still a great artist now after all these years. Love so many of his albums. “Take A look around” one of my favourite ever albums. Love the movin on remix that joint never gets enough credit. 🔥🫡💚
I was thinking the same thing Rah digga was lol I'm like wait a minute isn't dat a Brand Nubian song? Why Jamar acting like he don't know da group ? LOL
Masta Ace is one of my favorite MC's of all time and to me deserves more credit in hip hop and he is a great story teller and you never hear about him in the news for stupid shit. And on a side note I have a you tube channel type in Russell Mills May 22, 2017 to find me.
Take A Look Around still gets semi-regular play in my shit. Me & The Biz was fire, but also The Music Man, 4 Minus 1, As I Reminisce?! Maaaaaan, bangers, all of' em! I couldn't get into the west coast low rider vibe phase, but Ace will always get props for that first album.
yall the BEST!!! LORD JAMAR WILL LIVE LONG MASTER ACE IS FROM THE SYMPHONY AND 1ST TO REACH THAT WEST COAST ERA INTRO......SITTIN ON C.H...R.O.M.E RAH DIGGA...YOU WERE DOPE ON THAT BUNGEE...HAD ACRUSH ON U SINCE COWBOYS
Being a life long "Hip-Hop Head" ... I thought this song & video was in tune with Biz Markie image. This backstory is interesting because in my young mind i was thinking Biz is craaaaaazy to appear as a puppet... I thought it was DOPE! . I was preteen though 😂
Was it the "I'm the sneaky type to like slip a girl a mickey..." line? If so I agree WHOLEHEARTEDLY because that shit ain't cool to do or say someone else did ... especially if they didn't do it. that's rayp3 shyt
Man,Masta Ace is the man!!! I’ll put Masta Ace up any of todays rappers to go toe to toe and I bet he will smoke the mic, hands down!!!His first album Take A Look Around is a classic. And then when he did the posse cut with The Juice Crew All Stars was his best with other top notch rappers at that time.✌🏽
Masta Ace and Lord Jamar had some cringe-worthy moments in their music videos that we can reminisce about ('Me and theBiz' video confused me, Lord Jamar dancing in his first video looks hilarious now), but Rah Digga video where she was tied to a harness was and still is hot, eye candy alone.😉
He claims he’s an innocent bystander, but he’s not. He’s the one who asked for the beat when he knew that the beat was meant for someone else. Seem like the whole story, he threw everybody under the bus and took zero accountability for his own actions.
The Biz Puppet should be found and placed in the HipHop museum!!!!!
They just recently opened a Hip hop museum in Wynwood (Miami) Art District indeed would be dope to see it in an exhibition
@@TheBM213it's probably destroyed at this point.
Great idea!
💯
@@Severah115, naw, Ace still has one, he had it with him when he came to PHX this year for a in-store concert here. I took a pic of it.
Masta Ace is a legend.. . Great story teller MC. Very professional, and humble, and didn't utter a curse word. Love the fact he stays focus, straight forward and didn't compromise to be something he's not. Glad he's receiving his flowers!
He did curse he just made it sound good
Master Ace just never gets the props he deserves. He's an OG and he has made some bangers.
The song spoke so much of Ace’s artistry and ability. He captured Biz’s flow and cadence in the dopest ways. The rhymes make you feel like Biz when you say em 🙌🏾👑🫡
Took me years before I realized he wasnt on the actual song..I remember the puppet in the video though 😂
@@ericwilliams1023 Same.
The puppet in the video bought the song to life.
It was very fitting.
Biz was considered the clown prince of rap back then.
The my buddie doll was popular during that time.

Right!! As a a kid I thought Ace was paying homage lol 😂
Masta ace seems to be in good shape. Hope he is doing well and has a good prognosis

Ace has a strong body of work. Should be in the HOF one day.
Literally my favorite Masta Ace joint. Born to Roll was dope. Saturday Night was dope.
early dj premier sh!+!
I always thought that was Biz on the track until I saw the documentary. Ace paid ultimate homage to Biz with that cut.
Masta Ace always been one of my favorite juice crew artist I still play me and the biz
One of my favorite songs ! I’ve listened to that song a million times and didn’t even know Biz wasn’t on the song

THAT SONG WAS DOPE AND CREATIVE

Ace has had that no nonsense look about himself since day 1... one of my all time favs...
my favorite one is very underrated song is I gotta on his first joint
*Music Man" was the real sleeper joint
And should have been the lead single. I’m certain the start of his career would have been different. Method Man got his name from that song.

He had Underrated verse on the Symphony.
Dudes. This song is crazy important. Queen Digga with what we all wanted to hear. Gratitude/love/peace.................::::::::::::

Me and the biz track was dope and fun....I love that track M ACE did that!...RIP the diabolical
ACE graffiti name ASE is the one who said some times I get the fever for the flavor of a single 😂
I used to love that tight video, salute to Rah Diggah. Thank you❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😍😍😍
When did Ace morph into Rakim??
They do look similar lol
It's the thin face serious demeanor and forehead wrinkles from fifty plus years of concentration
Mad him and juice crew weren't at the hip-hop awards for Marley Marl tribute
Brand Nubian Feels so good is still fire .
Yes yes yes. It’s test test test.
I Love Rah Digga!
The whole thing was dope all the way down to the video. Some body most likely told Biz to leave that shit alone.
As a youngster I thought that was Biz 😆
One of the best MC's to ever touch the mic!

Simon Says is my favorite masta ace song. And the song they're thinking of is Steve Arrington, formerly of the group slave🤔
And Brand Nubian also sampled that song for “GRAND PUBA, POSITIVE & LG” off their 1st album
Legend masta ace inspirational mc I love me and the biz so jazzy hip hop that dance they do they do in the video classic
The video was novelty but the song was dope ASF. I Dj'ed in college and it kept the floor packed.

He good he good 📸
Nobody can be you, Steve Arington. Slave was Dope
o wow, i thought that was biz on that track!
I just met him last month

I'm glad Biz was able to move on and put that behind him. Ace's rhyme in the doc felt like a sincere apology.

For Years Masta Ace Had Me Thinking 🤔 Biz Was On That Joint. RIP BIZ MARKIE🤴🏾
Masta Ace killed the Symphony beat by himself Check it
I thought that shit was 🔥. I ain't know the back story.
I loved Me and Tha Biz the video was dope! Lord Jamar is a rap conservative. Rah and Jamar could have directed the tone better in this interview.
Yo Lincoln wasn't Cuban
Today's rap/hip-hop is so ...
Well its sad what music has become 😢
Song was hot regardless
Nobody can be you but you... Steve Arrington..

He look like rakim
Legendary luv from brooknam
Shouldn't have made that song.
Ace was dope but Malley Mall was being an ass for that Me and the Biz shit Atill it worked for biz more than Ace
He claims he’s an innocent bystander, but he’s not. He’s the one who asked for the beat when he knew that the beat was meant for someone else.

Supreme Allah ;)
AI could finally make Biz Markie apart of the song. Someone with the skills should make it happen please.
No. Stop with this AI shit
Nah. Without the real him it wouldn't be authentic.
Anybody else notice Jamar don't really be showing Digga respect when she come through?
She is his co-host, not his wife
@@swanm3ta850 You sound weird as hell. Wtf marraige got to do with it?
