Cystic hygroma refers to the abnormal lymphatic lesion that mostly develops at birth. It is a congenital defect that can affect any part of the human body but it in most cases affects the neck and head. It thereby affects babies and not the adults.

Dear Dr Chishti the case you are presenting in this video is not the case of Cystic Hygroma. From this video what I conclude that it is the case of Encephalomenigocele also called Cranium Bifidum. In this video a defect can be very well seen in occipital region through which manenjes and some part of the brain is herniating. This is a complex form of Encephalocele that is sequela of Neural tube defect.
In this video you are using pulsed wave Doppler to show fetal cardiac activity. Use of Pulsed Doppler or color Doppler for fetal cardiac activity is not recommended but M- mode is used to show cardiac activity and to measure the Fetal Heart Rate. Hopefully you will confirm my opinion and will correct this video.

Most of the time cystic Hygroma is seen around the Fetal neck and it is cystic in appearance while you are calling an Encephalomenigocele a cystic Hygroma. You can yourself see the structure you are calling cystic Hygroma is showing brain matter and manenjes in an outpouching in occipital region. Defect in occipital region and herniating skull contents are very well visualized in this video.

Hi everyone,
I am having cystic hygroma on my right cheek from my birth. I have undergone 2 operations and lots of steroid injection. But still It grows to actual size and it stopped. I didn't have sufficient funds to reach foreign doctors. Really I have faced lots of problems in past 25 years. Any body has solutions please help me. Having talent but I could not face the society.
