I've had this monstrosity of a synth for three years and just recently figured out how to do some of this stuff. Whether playing by myself or listening to others, this keyboard is by far the best "one man band" synth on the market that I know of. Combining it with Cubase made it a lot easier for the final mixdowns.

I only wish I could have all the brands' best products. I have a Roland Fantom08. So, I could not benefit from your work. However, as many of the commenters have said, Great Job! I really enjoyed your demo performances. Pop Rock, Latin, Chill Out, Reggae and Synthwave stood out for me. I especially liked Reggae. Understanding that the brand ecosystems can be complex, to say the least, and mastering all the tools and components the engineers build into these wonderful machines is daunting for most, the fact that you put together ready to use styles and how to use them is a testament for those of us beginners who aspire to make something others might enjoy. I cannot imagine how much time it took you to put everything in place :) The reggae made me smile in a good way and I loved your final synthwave sample, it could actually be a nice trance track on its own.

Great. Nice styles and songs. I can imagine the work that is in these performances. Unfortunately, Yamaha doesn‘t propagate this feature. I think you know that there is the possibility to load all the MOTIF styles in the MODX, what gives a lot of arpeggios with a sort of A.I. variations that can not be programmed by the user.
That is a very interesting question! Because Yamaha put in all the building blocks to have arranger styles on Montage/MODX. The synth can handle 8 simultaneous arpeggios, has 8 scenes with dedicated buttons (enough for triggering intro, Main A, B, C, Fill A, B, C, ending). They included arpeggios for many music styles with clear naming (e.g. 8beatballad, countrypop, jazzfunk, etc) with (intro), main a-c, fill a-c, (ending) for drums, bass, piano, pads, horns, guitars... So, deconstructed PSR styles are in the box. Montage/MODX even has Mega voices. Why doesn't Yamaha sell performances (in this case styles) as they were originally meant, with the best fitting instruments for the arpeggios, fully EQed.... Obviously, Yamaha doesn't want to cannibalise their arranger sales. But why put all the ingredients into the synth line in the first place?
Thanks for your creativity! I have MODX+ and I really like it. I'm also trying to create User Arps on it. But I can’t create a custom bass arpeggio similar to the built-in ones with the ending in the name “_C” so that the bass line plays inverted chords correctly. Maybe this worked for you?
No audio style, only midi arp ! You have to choose the good sound for each part and find 8 x 8 groovy arps for the complete performance, or record your own arp

This is brilliant work. I learnt playing on a yamaha PSR and thats why i have always missed tyros n genos while owning a korg kronos. Kronos has been lovely but to be honest, i could never do what you have done in the video. I am assuming montage isn’t easier than kronos, i find genos too expensive.. i am very intrigued with montage m8x.. but i doubt i ll be able to program styles of my own. Great work!!

It's not really the same use, modx is a real synthesizer with arranger capabilities if you have the time to program it!

I'd say because Yamaha has another keyboards specifically designed as arrangeres (Genos, 900, 700, etc)

Good attempt. Whatever you do, an arranger is an arranger, Synths cannot compete them for what they do.
the goal is not to compete with the arrange of course, just to allow people who have just this synth to have fun differently
