Yes, well said. This one is really meant as more of a mid range ripper with it's 1500kv motors. But I always get the urge to fly everything to the top of a mountain, even my big (and very inefficient) octocopter has done some serious mountain diving.
@@FalconRadFPV yup, totally get it. You basically have to… I’d love to see you try HDZero and hear your thoughts. You won't be disappointed, it gives you a really crisp nice FPV feed, and some pretty good video from the air unit DVR. I really like flying with it. Just don't like the video freeze instead of break up.
Great video! I'm about to decide whether to buy the DJI Goggles 2 or the DJI Goggles V2. Which of the two is better for long range flights? Assuming the same antennas, dji o3 air unit etc are used on both.
Here's the catch, can you use the same antennas on both? I think two of the four antennas on the goggles 2 are internal aren't they? The goggles v2 has way more options for antennas and long range video is ALL ABOUT the antennas. A few years ago I used to go way far out (like 6km) with $100 eachine goggles and a $20 vtx and had solid video. It was because of having the right antennas for the job. Myself I found the goggles 2 hard to focus on properly, the screen is just a few millimeters from the eyes.
@@FalconRadFPV Many thanks for the answer! Yes exactly two of the 4 antennas of the Goggles 2 are internal. I am asking this difficult question because I have seen in a video how someone replaces 2 of the 4 antennas of the Goggles 2 with the "ORT Helical G2 6 Turn" and then flies over 8 kilometers without any problems. I think the same range can be achieved with the Goggles v2 and the same antennas as well, so I'm not sure which one to buy? The video is called: "Mendaki GN. Rinjani fpv drone - long range dji o3 air unit".

great to see you flying dji o3 finally and now with a gopro 11 mini! video looks fantastic! tips to further improve video: use nd filters, set iso fixed to 100 and also use reelsteady to stabilize the video (or gyroflow which is free)
No, not with the v2 goggles. With the Goggles 2 and the Integra you can record the OSD on the DVR footage but with the V2 it’s not possible unfortunately.
Or just run the USB cable from the goggles to a cellphone or tablet with the DJI Fly app installed and your wife can watch the screen. I do that for my 91 year old dad sometimes. I do put the cellphone in airplane mode though just because DJI makes me paranoid lol. Great vid!
Great video. I have lots of experience flying far with O3, both with V2 goggles and G2/Integra. The different goggles exhibit COMPLETELY different behaviour in marginal signal scenarios. G2/Integra can be run down to 5mbps and still deliver a beautiful and stable image, whereas the V2 goggles are in the danger zone here. The big problem with V2 is that when they do lose link completely, it often never recovers. This is due, I believe, to them dropping into low power mode after total link loss. DJI apparently did not test this and does not care. I have replicated this multiple times. In contrast, G2/Integra recovers astonishingly quickly. This is rarely talked about and incredibly important to understand when pushing this system out far.
Thank you! Finally, a reason behind the extended video recovery time for DJI goggles v2. I've been wondering about this since I got my DJI setup. (interesting to hear that it's solved for the next round of goggles, typical DJI not to bother updating firmware for older products to work after bugs are figured out.
@@FalconRadFPVA pleasure! This issue is personal as it contributed to an expensive loss of gear. DJI denied that it represented a safety issue. The video loss style is one reason I chose to order HDZERO. It just statics out the parts it cannot get and still sends you a partial image if you can. Image freeze and Walksnail's image warping would likely be distracting and take some time to register in the brain for me.
Great flight. I stick with analog cus i like gettin sketchy and analog tends to give you a few seconds of breakup to reconsider your choices before it gives up. Digital seems like its either on or off, i like the breakup time before cutout because most times i can save it.
How do you have such detailed information (amps and such) on your DJI OSD? It's been a year or so since I've flown with my DJI goggles, but at the time the DJI OSD info was not very good.
You should be seeing your mbps. That number is the best reference to signal strength. With the 03 unit, as you get below 10, and certainly to 5, it will work but you are in risk territory.
@16:16 didn't you mean to enter the gully to the left on your way down (which is the middle one on your way up @8:17), as it is straighter and would have provided better video signal? You've got to do it again. Catch an avalanch while you're at it. GREAT FLIGHT !!!
Ya that's right. I went down the correct middle one on an earlier flight but some how got it mixed up on that 4th flight. You're right in the middle one I think I could get quite low down in it and still have good signal.
My take is that the o3 will boost power if there is enough temperature margin to allow it; it doesn't matter much doing proximity flying but when doing long range it is constantly boosting and staying hot, leaving little temp margin for emergencies like terrain/ foilage shadowing of signal. Maybe iflight and Geprc has inside sources, or maybe they ran tests themselves on the behaviours of the o3 at long range, either way they ended up slapping addtional heatsinks, on top of the stock alloy heatsink shell on all their long range models. 🧐
No real testing needed. Just plug it in for 3min and try to touch it! You'll burn yourself with the heat from it just sitting plugged in. Don't even need to arm it. It gets super hot even when disarmed and in low power mode. The Falcon RPM frame has a cooling pattern cut into the main plate for the 03. The frame also comes with a 20mmx14mm heatsink to install on top of the 03, and a piece of double sided thermal tape to attach it.
crazy footage mate!!! but i didnt found how far it was? just straight line! not round trip..cause i want to build a longrange quad and i m not sure if it schould be a dji o3 system or stay with the vista… would be great to knot the maximum range i could get!! thanks mate
I recommend the 03 for the best range but I would think a vista should get you as far as most batteries would allow, at least for a drone. It's really all about the antennas and their placement.
Unbelievably awesome FR! I guess those video freezes come randomly! All you can do is maybe go with higher gains on your goggles or just pucker up and hope it cones back quick! Lol Cheers Bro!
Its 2am here in India, I am sleep depriving myself. But damn, the video is so amazing. I wish I could fly, I have some drone parts . Holding them since last 3 years, my love for quad and fpv died a long ago, when our govt decided to stop imports from China. No more affordable parts. Lucky are you folks.
Thank you very much for doing these Videos! Do you prefere the analog System for FPV or do you think, Dji is the thing to choose? Hope for more! Thx so much!
DJI for sure looks better the catch is if you lose video with DJI it takes a lot longer to come back than it does with analog. If your long range flying style is to get in really close to the environment and risking losing video then analog is best. If you have a lot of long range experience then you might be practiced enough at flying with no video to be able to handle no video for several seconds. If you are flying very close to the ground GPS rescue will risk crashing into the ground. When flying close to the ground you need to level out and throttle up before switching on GPS rescue.
When running two 6s packs in parallel the share the amp load from the ESC. The best setup is 6s2p 18650's at 640 grams. With good cells it will out perfom and get better range than 6s1p 21700 pack at 460 grams. without being too much heavier. 6s 18650 320g, 6s 21700 460gOne reason I use 6s2p is so that if I get caught in a strong wind then the batteries will have the power to to go full throttle for a little while. My preference is to fly with two 18650 packs. Using two 6s 21700 packs is only for when I want to spend some extra time in the air to get multiple shots of the peak on the GoPro without having to do several flights to get them. Or if I want to get some extra range to a far off peak. But I really prefer the way it handles and flies with 6s2p 18650's. It's MUCH lighter than with 6s2p 21700.
Impressive tbh. Agreed, the unit should light up the osd when mbs drop to zero as that half second could mean a crash. Random Q but do you know of an antenna tracker capable of working with any of the dji units?
Awesome and inspirational flight once more! I'm getting a new Upgrade Energy 5200mah 6S tomorrow, now to find a nice spot to try it out. Beautiful stuff man and I love how you have someone there to be your co-pilot. That must be comforting as well as helpful when things get tricky. 🙂
I've been considering buying the DJI Goggles Integra but have just learned that it's not easy to fit long-range antennas to them. Now I'm looking at the Goggles 2 instead, as it seems they come with MXC? connectors. I want goggles that aren't bulky so I can easily fit them in my backpack too. In the meantime I'm still on analog ☺
The goggles V2 are big and bulky but have the option to easily change all four of the antennas. But then ya the new smaller ones only let you change two of the antennas. I think TrueRC makes antennas that fit on the newer DJI goggles.
I have this one setup on cinematic style rates. Just turn everything down A LOT. With "actual" rates it's set to, center sensitivity at just 10 or 20, max rate at around 400 or even a bit less. And in the receiver tab, the smoothing adjustment at the bottom recommends about 90-120 for a cinematic build I think. It like it on the lower end of that, say 85 or 90. It feels sort of unresponsive if you are used to flying freestyle rates but it will also help smooth the quads motion considerably. You won't be able to do "flips" & "rolls" like you can with the stock rates or a bit higher. Also good if you are flying in very close proximity to trees or rocks or whatever, if you do a sudden correction it makes it much easier to control and make sure you don't end up over correcting and getting your self into more trouble.

Thanks so much MC, hope you're doing well.
You should be seeing your mbps. That number is the best reference to signal strength. With the 03 unit, as you get below 10, and certainly to 5, it will work but you are in risk territory.
Thanks, I'll move that OSD element closer to the middle of the screen so it's easier for me to see.
That was freaking insane! where is this, it is a breath taking area
I fly on a lot on the west coast of canada
@@FalconRadFPV such a beautiful area you are lucky!
DVR was great (upon breakup ;-) , hope to see thst with OSD soon!
Amazing flight and nice save! I'll try this route hopefully sometime this year lol 😅
Also beware of ufl to sma adapters for the o3, if I am forced to use them I would never take them off once installed.
crazy footage mate!!! but i didnt found how far it was? just straight line! not round trip..cause i want to build a longrange quad and i m not sure if it schould be a dji o3 system or stay with the vista…
would be great to knot the maximum range i could get!!
Beautiful images. How far the DJI O2 and O3 unit can go?
I'm not sure, but it can go farther than any battery can take a drone. (with good antennas on the 03 and goggles and CLEAR line of sight to the drone)
Just amazing , what the key to go so far my max is 3km one way is it the antenna in a drone ?
Thank you! It's all of the antennas. Especially the video on the drone and the goggles.
i think you should try helical antennas
Oh I have, many times. I've even posted a video about how to make them.
Great flight!
What antennas are you using on your goggles?
I put on LHCP trueRC singularity antennas on the quad. My goggles have two stock stubbies and an iflight crystal patch.
Love your videos
Thank you.
I think you should work with Nat Geo world for the nice scenery Documentary.
those shots are so clean.
That was very fun to watch!
Is this frame your new Cinematic Mid-range?
Yes that's right, the Falcon RPM 7.5"
Its 2am here in India, I am sleep depriving myself. But damn, the video is so amazing. I wish I could fly, I have some drone parts . Holding them since last 3 years, my love for quad and fpv died a long ago, when our govt decided to stop imports from China. No more affordable parts. Lucky are you folks.
So sorry to hear about that. Sucks they made it so you can't get parts anymore!
Does the paralel pack outperform a single 21700 pack with 40a cells? Or is it similar performance?
I'm also wondering what the battery configuration is like🤔
When running two 6s packs in parallel the share the amp load from the ESC.
@@FalconRadFPV thanks for answering 🤗🖖
awesome
It would be nice if you had a secondary monitor for your wife so she can share the experience. Great flight.
Impressive tbh. Agreed, the unit should light up the osd when mbs drop to zero as that half second could mean a crash. Random Q but do you know of an antenna tracker capable of working with any of the dji units?
No I'm not sure, that's an interesting question though. I've never used a tracker myself.
Thanks for the comment, good luck with your flight when you try that thing out!
Your Flying Rates Are So Smooth❤️
What your Rates ..Can you Guide!!
