    Corrections: Legolas *is* officially there by licensed name. I'm looking forward to hearing viewers' actual thoughts about the set on the whole, as opposed to just picking apart my video!

      This Set is beautiful! I would absolutely love a review from you.
      The colours of the entire thing give me very positive autumn/fall vibes. It's just fantastic. Also 15 minifigs and the additional 5 or 6 statues is huge! My complaint are the trees. They look to clunky compared to the love they put into everything else in this set. It also looks way more compact and feels like a Set worth 500€ compared to the Grey in Grey starships from Star Wars with barely any minifigures. Just my opinion.
      And the roof. That is amazing yet so simple.

      Aw man, this one is easy, I simply will not be able to resist this purchase. Never done much LotR Lego but this? Nope, sign me up n take my money! (Its expensive of course and does look like a lot of "smaller" pieces, but still 6000+ is solid imo). Love the video as well!

      Absolutely gorgeous set. Definitely big improvement on almost all the figures. However legolas does seem a bit off... maybe the face? May look different up close! Looking forward to the review!

    This is a gorgeous set with loads of great details and tons of figs, but I've got to say that even for a licensed set, $500 seems a bit steep. When you consider that a pretty hefty amount of the pieces are 1x1 tiles on the roof, and a set like the Lion Knights' Castle can sell for $400, makes you wonder why this one is just soooo expensive.

    • @spaulagain
      @spaulagain ปีที่แล้ว +14

      Nah it fine. 14 figures, $.8/piece for a stunning and decently sized set is a solid deal IMO. Especially with all the recoloring and unique parts.

      I'm guessing it's because they want to sell it to people who want the full collection of all the fellowship figures. You needed at least three sets to get them all in the old wave so they're very expensive to get all of them now, especially boromir pippin and merry

    • @cp312
      @cp312 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      well, at a minimum, it's 1600 more pieces than Lion Knight's Castle so that accounts for about $100

  • @viperson9818

    It's a great looking set with great figures. But I find it odd to bring back a theme with a big bang $500. No smaller sets besides brickheadz.
    I do wonder if LEGO is gonna start producing less of these high price sets.

      I think Lego learned from the first release that LOtR is much more popular with adults than kids. I remember nearly all of the original sets sitting on shelves (especially the Hobbit ones) and eventually getting clearanced off. Their obviously targeting adults, and know many will buy this at this price point. They’ve had 10+ years of market research on this.

    • @nunatak123
      @nunatak123 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah it would be great to have a full line of low to mid-priced sets. Maybe it could come in the future? I wonder though that as it’s >20 years since the movies, whether Lego are banking on the fans from back then now having the disposable cash to spend on a huge nostalgia hit

    • @experimentsininsanity4478
      @experimentsininsanity4478 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I feel like they've steadily been releasing more high price sets over the past few years. I wouldn't count on a change of course unless the AFOL money train runs dry unexpectedly.

    • @joel6376
      @joel6376 ปีที่แล้ว

      My 8yo loves lotr and could build this but I would really appreciate some lower value items. Perhaps part of the reason this exists is so lego enthusiasts can obtain "characters" but the cost is.. a huge set. Otherwise we (personally) would likely buy them piecemeal in smaller sets.

  • @DragonMasterSubo
    @DragonMasterSubo ปีที่แล้ว +29

    Set looks fantastic, but 500 is a lot. I love the printed floor pieces, but absolutely lament the stickers used for everything else. 500 is a big ask for stickers, it might be the limiting factor for me. Lion Knights castle didn't have stickers and it was perfect in my mind.
    I really hope they keep adding odd stuff to the photos just to infuriate Jang.

  • @chris_wizzudz

    This is exactly what I was hoping Rivendell would be. So excited for this set!

  • @JainaSoloB312
    @JainaSoloB312 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    Oh this looks fantastic!
    I believe the 2 nameless Elves are actually meant to be the 2 Elven smiths of Rivendell who reforge the shards of Narsil into Anduril. These Elves aren't named in the books or films, but were played by real WETA blacksmiths who made the weapon props for the films, and that's fun.
    Personally I was hoping for a nanoscale Rivendell ala Hogwarts, so to capture the entire place, but putting that aside I don't think a miniscale build could have realistically been done much if any better than this in terms of play and display value. This is excellent.
    Excited for your review in the future!💜

    great part usage with the 2x2 with rounded extension on the big roof, for the chairs, and is it me, or is there special leg builds so that all the figures can sit
    I would think 400 euros tops tho, knowing how overpriced things are

  • @NetStrider
    @NetStrider ปีที่แล้ว +1

    2:12 - the other sword in the armory you mentioned is likely Arwen’s sword Hadhafang (Throng-cleaver); a sword once belonging to the Elven princess Idril who wed a mortal Man (Tuor) and bore Eärendil, the father of Elrond, who in turn was father to Arwen.
    Great preview! Love the snarky houseplant commentary as always ;) As a huge LOTR and LEGO fan, I can’t pass this one up even though space is tight!

    Had a closer look at the table in the council scene because I was wondering what pieces were used, and I think its a repurpose of the shulker box from the Minecraft sets, which is such a clever part usage! This set is so good I might have to take some extra shifts for a while to afford it! 😂

    I'm so excited it's mini-fig scale! And the mini-figs look stunning. As a die-hard book and movie fan there's almost nothing to complain about. Just from the pics the lore seems perfect. Which is wonderful to see as that was one of the calling cards of the theme a decade ago.
    Question: If you're VIP and want to pick it up on March 5th, day 1, how does that work? When you go to your lego store do you have to tell them you're VIP to be able to purchase it, or will it just be stocked on shelves as normal and they'll check you're VIP at checkout? This will be my first time picking up a set day 1 in store! Thanks for the help 😁

    I think it looks amazing! All of it! I like the alternate builds they did for the minifigures like Frodo and Elrond to be able to sit down.
    I think it's safe to say, though, that NO ONE is looking forward to putting those roofs together.

    The pedestal thing that the ring sits on appears to be made from recolored Minecraft shulker tops.

    This set looks way lovely, really does! Haven't watched LOTR in quite some time, but still, this set is quite terrific, looking forward to the review!

    Great video. Awesome model. Looks like an Ocarina flute on the shelf referencing Zelda maybe?! I think sooo.

    Good-looking set. That said, it should probably have about the same number of figures as Mos Eisley Cantina. Fifteen figures just seems weak for a $100 more than similar sets. Piece count is only way higher due to the small pieces involved like the roof, leaves, and water feature. Since it is Rivendell maybe a few more elves would have worked to keep it accurate to the scene. IIRC, there were about 20 individuals at the round-table and quite a few of them elves. I like LOTR but that ship has sailed, no pun intended, as far as me buying LEGO sets based on it.

    Those are a lot of new, movie accurate weapon molds for one set. Is a full LOTR theme reboot on the horizon? 👀
