    This is one of my favorite cars. The looks, the sound, and that steering. I recently got to drive a 2011 S model, and I couldn’t stop thinking about it for days. It could honestly be a lawn ornament because of how pretty it looks. This is a car that feels special the moment you start moving. The steering feels alive at 10 mph. The exhaust is intoxicating. Whenever I see one on the road (almost never), I always flash my lights and give the owner a thumbs up. I’ve loved the way they looked ever since I was a kid. The pre-facelift one is pretty meh because of that transmission and the looks aren’t great, but the facelift is literally a totally different car.

    I bought a 2009 QP 4.7 Executive GT since new n had to get a tow truck for it last week; radiator hose snapped off.
    I had 2 days to think what other cars i may want...🤔...i can buy anything but i wanted NOTHING ELSE. Natural aspirated V8 built by Ferrari's Luca di Montezemolo, Pinifarina design, front-mid engined, exhaust n sport-mode n hydraughlic steering all tuned by Ferrari...anyone can buy a new car but not ez to keep a 13 yr old car in excellent shape with it still stirring excitement when i fire it up then put on my sunglasses.

    New subscriber here... great video! Love the b-rolls. I own a QP 2007, and it has been my daily driver for almost 7 years now. Never let me down. The Pirelli's it came with wore down fast so I changed to Michelin Pilot Sport, which lasts me 4 seasons instead of 2. The car is just getting better with age. Yeah there are signs of wear, but so has my favourite jeans and watches. This thing is a life companion, not a means of transportation. And yes I love cars and try many many cars regularly. But then taking my QP back home is always, well, coming home. If I were to replace it I would just get a newer facelift and wear that one in as well.

      Hey man! I’m looking to daily drive one as well. I work from home so I’ll drive at most 10km in a day. Any recommendations/things to look out for?

    • @olemt
      @olemt 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@evan9536 You would drive 5 km’s each way? This kind of use is not benefitting the car. You should let it run warm. Take longer trips in the weekend. Keep a battery charged connected because if you only drive 5 kms each time you start your battery will wear out quickly and your electronics are dependent on a well charged and healthy battery

    • @evan9536
      @evan9536 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@olemt Of course I would drive more! But, that’s the only required driving for me every day. I would certainly do a lot of cruises down next to the river in my hometown. I was emphasizing that I won’t put on a ton of KM’s because I don’t have a lot of required daily commuting. However, I will have a 4 hour business trip once a month and I would plan on driving this as well.

    • @olemt
      @olemt 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@evan9536 You will be fine. I put 70.000 km on mine, about 10k per year and in that time I had to replace 2 of the shock absorbers and I had one set of brake disks. Pay attention to tire wear, as uneven wear may be indicative of suspension issues. One thing I have which I also had on BMW is that the ZF transmission may shift hard. This does not mean you need an overhaul. You can do an oil change, and have them replace the solenoid cable kit at the same time. Solenoids are in plastic housing and get brittle with time. I figured that out on youtube and it fixed the transmission on my 540. Plan to have it done on the QP too. My BMW tech told me they had replaced countless BMW transmissions on recommendation from BMW, and had no clue about the solenoid issue. Thanks youtube.

    Not fast? 5.4s for 0-60 for a big car is great. The 4.7 is a step up, they are the collectable ones and sound even better than the 4.2

    • @satsumagt5284
      @satsumagt5284 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It’s 5.6s for the 4.2 Automatica, 5.2s for the 4.2 Duo and I think 4.1 for the 4.7 (4.7 is always Automatica).
      And yes, the 4.7 sounds marginally better than the 4.2 Automatica, but the 4.2 Duo… it just gets more high pitched at higher RPMs, feels more like a race car. Turns out part of the exhaust is different on the Duo, as it’s a transaxle.

      @@TheSpeedyGuidy 😄 If I put the car in neutral and put the brakes, it's scary. Because it feels very weak. But if you push the pedal hard, it stops very well. This car was designed to rely on engine braking along with the brakes to stop.
      Remember, maserati doesn't make brakes. These are brembo 6 piston in the front and 4s on the rear. So, good brakes.

    I get you bro... We seem to be around the same age... You want to drive something with feeling. Thing with the price range considering this car is you can go buy a CL55 AMG with 498hp and 518ftlb and smoke C5 and C6 Vettes all day along with Mustangs and Camaros.... I’m thinking of buying the AMG I mentioned but a C5 is a close second. However, I’m also keeping my eyes open for a nice 96 C4! You nailed it like I mentioned earlier with what the car invokes in you while driving,and the C4 just seems like it has way more personality and a rawness to it while still being modern enough to be acceptable even today. I'm not sure you should consider it "slow". It has been clocked 0-60 in around 5.2 seconds, whereas the 2010 Corvette was at 4.1, so basically a one second difference. Plus, it's not a performance car, but a luxury car for the driver. Yeah, it has quirks, but it's a beautiful automobile.

    • @TheSpeedyGuidy
      @TheSpeedyGuidy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Calling it "slow" is kinda missing the point of this car. I only mention it because people assume a MASERATI is always a fast automobile--especially with the way this thing sounds. Was it "fast" when it came out? No. It got destroyed by an M5 or E63 of the day. Is it fast now? Def no. Did I care then and do I care now? NO!

    Not sure I trust a review of a $160k car by a guy wearing a t-shirt and a hoody. LOL!

    Maserati hasn't built a great car since the early '70s. The 1971 Quattroporte had a lot going for it. By the standards of the day it had stunning performance, was beautifully appointed and it looked great. At the same time they brought out the Ghibli, the gorgeous Ghibli Spyder and the incredible Bora. They had features like a dry sump that aren't common even today. Sure, they were combined with absurd electrics and leaky gaskets but that was almost part of the charm. A modern car with those faults is no longer charming. It's annoying. In fact, it's below par. The current generation Maseratis have next to nothing going for them. In fact, I've seen more on the back of trucks than on the road. A mate of mine has a brother who has had two - both Ghiblis - and absolutely loves them, so maybe it's not all bad news. But it's almost sad to look at this car and not see anything as inspirational as what I saw when I first clapped my eyes on one in 1971.

      I think you're right! Although I love the Ghibli of the late 80's looks-wise. Not sure how they drive. This Mk5 Quattroporte from this video is actually fantastic to hustle on a back road. The newest models are truly shit!

    Wrong comparo. It's a GT, not a sports car. Too many cars are emotionless. Blah blah blah. BMW? M-B? Appliances. See yourself every five minutes.
    Emozione. Emotion. FEEL SOMETHING. Or just get an SUV.

      Drive anything after 2015 with a performance turbocharger and this will feel slow---but again, not the point of this car. Just important to point out that modern cars have gotten too quick!
