- Second of many more pike videos coming in 2024. As many of you know I’m trying to raise some money for Muscular Dystrophy in memory of a friend Simon Mirfin. If you have a few quid spare please donate via the justgiving link below and I’ll keep the videos coming.

In this video i catch a few pike but show the difference between using a landing or not when dealing with pike. - กีฬา
Again another video that's priceless to the less experienced lure angler "Me"👌
I'm yet to use trebles so seeing you deal with Mr Pike helps prepare for when I eventually do so... although I think this has convinced me that I'm gonna leave trebles alone until late in the year. I can easily see myself with less experience panicking when having to deal with a fish potentially being out of the water for too long because it has rolled and tangled line and hooks around itself and the net. It's already happened with single hooked lures and although I have managed to deal with that scenario I think I'm going to focus on getting comfortable with landing and handling the fish I do catch with a single hook by dispensing with a net whenever it is safe for the fish and myself to do so.
We’re all the richer under your RP tutelage. You really do do a grand service for the piking community. Great to have you back!!
Hey buddy hope you are well. You’re too kind pal 😘
You are the man with the pike un hooking plan Paul ! Good to see you dipping you're tackle in the water some more 🤙🤙keep it going owd lad !
Cheers matey. More to come too!
Enhorabuena por las capturas 😉👍
Thank you!
Great video from the Pike Master 👍🎣
Cheers buddy
Good advice Paul, used my cutters today to cut off as much as possible of another trace that was in the mouth of a pike I caught. The single treble was deep down and looked like it had been there for a while so decided not to try and remove it.
Not good mate but you did best you can hopefully it’ll be ok. Cutters get you out of a pickle when it all goes Pete Tong
It's great to have you back Paul, what would be really great would be if you could go back to the spot where you caught that river twenty and see if you can catch the old girl again .
That was my favorite from you.
Ah mate imagine going back there and blanking. What a crap video that would be 🤣🤣
Nice fish an good tutorial🐊🎣
Cheers matey
The reason some of us Southeners wear gloves, is that we catch soooo many, we can’t afford the blood loss 🤣. Happy Christmas Paul to you and yours 👍
🤣🤣 yes you lot catch plenty but those carp don’t even have teeth 🤣
And happy Christmas to you and family Paul hope you have a belter
@@riverpiker Cheers Paul, have an enjoyable one with The Nipper 👍
Personally. I will always try to prioritise chinning a pike where and when possible unless Its a big-un or I want to get a better look at it.
Me too matey. Experience always helps of course, so not for everyone. But those jacks are a nightmare in the net sometimes!!
Hi matey, I seen there was something going on your website at Aire&Calder canal at woodlesford a couple years ago. Do you have any tips on good spots on that stretch
Hey bud. We found that fishing along the margins caught more fish. Also make sure to spend a bit of time around the boats. Try keeping mobile and fishing smaller lures to start with.
Great video and advice, what hooks do you use please ?
Tbh can’t remember exactly they were some cheapos off AliExpress.
Nice video, good info. What type of handle is that that you out on your reel? looking to replace the handle on my baitcasting setup
Shimano Tranx comes in two versions, basically a hi and low gear and one has single handle and the other has double handle like this. If you search Gomexus Baitcasting reel handle on google you’ll find some similar.
@@riverpiker legend, sound man. Does the gear ratio matter for which handle you're using?
@@cathalfahey-kelly4384 not really. Idea from Shimano is double handle for the 301hg and single for the 301. Some people but either and swap to their preference. I know some guys who didn’t like the double handle so switched it off their 301hg.
@@riverpiker lovely. Thanks for the reply
Might been better hand land lure pike , that way no thrashing in net .
Makes me cringe large treble dangerously close pikes eye .
Hand landing eliminates this somewhat .
I would suggest trebles no bigger than a size 1/0 .
I always change any bigger hooks to more pike friendly sizes .
Lot lures come with hooks miles too big .
Better still rubber lures better on pikes teeth an 1 large single treble .
I would recommend anyone not confident pike unhooking stick to rubber single hook lures .
Shame about the camera angle. Couldn't see what was happening in most of vid , sorry
