shopdogsam keep up the great videos they are the best out there i have a few of them im going top rebuild now i know more about them and thank you for teaching me how to rebuild them. it will save me a bunch of money. Russ
Currently rebuilsing mine.... My primary was 1.1 ohm. Secondary 3.84 k ohm. ( 2 together = 7.670 k ohm ) You mentioned anything from 7 to 11 k ohm range will work. Can you confirm this is acceptable vs. Buying new. Thanks
hi new subscriber here you have the best videos on old engines my logic is why buy a $500 china paper thin engine when you can get a rebuild 1900s maytag for the same price that will last a life time anyway can you point me to why you use Colman fuel do you have a video on this ? thank you signed : A Texan stuck in Seattle
So the bottom line is that the secondary winding should show 4000 to 5000 (4K to 5K) ohms, per coil. The primary winding should show about 1 ohm per coil. No winding measurement should be 0 -or "shorted" in other words. No winding should show infinite or super high ohms -"open" in other words. None of these reading are critical, as long as they are in the ball park. Also, neither winding should show continuity (a short) to the metal frame- or "ground" when the ground lead is disconnected.

,, I don't know,, "Deja Vu",, no, it's been one of them Bob Marley kinda days here on the east coast of Arkansas,,
Are you measuring ohms?
If you had a whole 5 gallon bucket of the bad coils you would have about 300 or 400 dollars worth at the scraper.
Aaaahhhhh I should learn to read!!!
Yep hes measuring ohms
