Great new series! I am glad to see you start this one.Wish it had been sooner ,but I am still thankful for you passing on some knowledge to us younger guys.
Dog, I always learn something when I watch your video. I'm getting ready to retire, tired of trying to teach people who don't want to learn. Maybe, I'll try to do something on line like you. Song of the day "These Days" by Gregg Allman on the "Laid Back Album. Later Dog
Sam hello glad you got to this video my ek need going over on my M engines. What microfarads should I get? What is the source? RadioShack something along those lines. thanks Sam
Spec was 0.12uf -but any cap from 0.1 to 0.25uf should work, that's not too critical. Go for 0.15uf. BUT-the voltage rating should be at least 630 volts, preferably 1000v or more because of the big voltage spike on the primary when the points open. Higher voltage ratings will give you longer life, reliability. Radio Shack does not have these caps with high enough voltage ratings. You can get these from Mouser, Element 14, Ebay, etc. A condenser for a car, etc., should work too -in a pinch.

Been waiting for this series for a long while. I got me a seat and a hot cup of coffee, listening intently.

Great info so far.. been waiting for a tutorial like this for EKs for a while.. thanks!
Yes you are right, the condenser case design then was what the technology allowed, today the package don't have to be as large to do the same thing...
Can you put rare earth magnets in the Wico mag so you won't have to get it recharged ever again?
Do you have a video on a Webster magneto for on a John Deere E? looking for a demonstration on basic repair/rebuild.
+Tim Eickschen ,, no video,,,
