Reminds me of 'childhood dreams dramatics in later seasons. Got me questioning if we're ever gonna see home films of Gabriel and his collage theater troup. Would be a top ten moment for me.
Actually when Gabriel was chastising Adrien for the book you kinda stopped on a frame of Gabriel holding his hands behind his back and all I could think about when he said his “inspiration” was his ring and how that connects to controlling Adrien. Also the mountain range in the photo young Adrien made, they were just on a quick holiday looking for more miraculous in the Tibetan Mountains!
Man this brings me back how we waited so long to see it this is what elevated the show by so much it was the first large plot episode. now we’re in season 5 knowing Gabriel is hawkmoth is such a normal thing now it’s hard to believe there was a time in which we were speculating who he was. Who was this old man in a Hawaiian shirt that would appear in the background of season 1 episodes. What were the other kwamis in the intro. Even just speculating if there were more layers of the miracle box. Man how time has flown by season by season 😮

In a show that had only had a very loose sense of continuity, this episode was an early keystone of a fundamental story arc: Gabriel as the confirmed antagonist, seeking the Miraculouses to serve his own purpose. As ever, it was such fun to see your analysis of it!
With season 2 in your sights, how about a show on "Sapotis"? Or better yet, revisiting Chloe's taking possession of the Bee Miraculous in "Style Queen," "Queen Wasp" and "Maledictator"?
29:37 Maybe Gabriel is mean to Norro and the other kwamis since he sees them as the reason for killing Emile. Since the Kwami is what gives the hero’s their powers maybe when they first activated the miracouls Norro and Dussu were like “We give you amazing powers” not knowing that the peacock miracouls was damaged, and since they don’t have knowledge to fixed it (since kwamis were not able to see the spells). Gabriel could have been like “why didn’t you warn us”/ “fix it now” Norro is like “we don’t know how sorry” hence Gabe sees these creatures as the cause of his suffering hence he’s mean to them

I've always assumed that the "temper tantrum" was something he did as a cover, but there's one thing I'm curious about. When he's deakumatized, he of course acts like he doesn't remember what happened, but was it an act? Is it possible that even though he akumatized himself, that he didn't remember what he did? Also, when Marinette tells Master Fu that Gabriel can't possibly be Hawkmoth because he was akumatized, I find it interesting that Master Fu only said something like, "That's probably so", like he wasn't entirely convinced.
Maybe because he really wasn't entirely convinced? Since he lived so long already, I believe he has more experience in analyzing people 🤔
I don't mean to pester you, but you should totally react to Simon Says. There are some really significant scenes that are cool and/or funny.

This episode hits different now since Marinette has seen it for herself that she was right all along. The shock on her face when she saw Gabriel detransform right in front of her gave her chills. I can't even imagine how Adrien would react if he found out for himself after what has happened leading up to the season 5 finale. I do hope that he will find out one day. He deserves to know the truth
And it's crazy to think that they all had moments when they were suspecting each other's identities. In the episode The Gorilla, Gabriel was suspecting that Adrien was Cat Noir, but unbeknownst to Adrien, he tricked his father into believing otherwise. In this episode, Marinette had suspected that Gabriel was Hawkmoth but was thrown off course in the end since Gabriel has made her believe otherwise, but she ended up finding out the truth in season 5. In the episode Kwamibuster, Adrien was suspecting that Marinette and Ladybug are the same person, but unbeknownst to Marinette, she made him believe otherwise with the plan she made in that episode. Very mind-blowing
It's incredible how the series weaves these intricate moments of suspicion and misdirection among the characters! The season 5 revelation has certainly added a new layer to Marinette's understanding of the truth. The complexity of the relationships and the constant dance around secret identities keeps us on the edge of our seats. I'm curious to see how Adrien's eventual discovery will unfold and how it will impact the dynamics between the characters. Miraculous Ladybug truly knows how to deliver mind-blowing twists!
