I like how Boon and his team have taken rumors and other fan created ideas and made them into real things within the games, a very good way to keep your player base coming back.

He also got the numbering of the last 2 games wrong. Mortal Kombat (2011) is the 8th installment of the main story, not the 9th. And Mortal Kombat X is the 9th game. Ed Boon stated in an interview that the X in the name means "variable" not 10. LOL
BlazingShade That's because while not officially canon, MK vs. DCU is the 8th installment. Originally it wasn't going to be, but the fandom latched onto calling MK 2011 "MK9" to distinguish it from the original. It's even listed as MK9 in shorthand everywhere. How you haven't noticed that is beyond me.
Kyle P But it's not the 8th installment. It's a remake of Mortal Kombat 2 with DC characters set in a completely different universe. It's basically Mortal Kombat's version of Marvel vs Capcom. I know people call it MK9. And I'm saying they are wrong to call it that, because MK vs DCU is not the 8th Mortal Kombat game. I don't see the logic of counting MK vs DCU as the 8th game when *(1)* It's not a continuation of the series. *(2)* It's a what-if game. *(3)* The fans hated the game for it's character design, voice acting, and lack of blood and gore.

Missed one. There was a show called Mortal Kombat: Conquest. One of the few times they did not replace the C with a K in the title.
The statement about Kuai-Liang (Noob Saibot's younger brother) not being a ninja due to his leaving the Lin Kuei is completely inaccurate. Instead of a shinobi, he would be referred to as a nekunin, a rogue or masterless ninja. He would still be a ninja though.

It's not entirely wrong actually. While technically it is the 20th tournament overall, the first Mortal Kombat game takes place during the 10th tournament of the second set of 10 required to absorb Earthrealm into Outworld, since they failed the first set of 10 and had to wait to start over and try again. It's not the 10th tournament ever, it's merely the 10th of this cycle of 10, with Shao Kahn's forces having won 9 in a row. So when people say this is the 10th tournament, they are both correct and incorrect.

i do not recall Reptile in MK 1 having that unlock requirement. Maybe on SNES it was different. On SNES to play against Reptile all you had to do was not continue any match, lose a match and had to use a fatality up to the Pit stage and then uppercut your foe to the bottom of the pit. Liu Kang made this easy since his fatality was a two fold of that last part.
in the original arcade of mk 1 had the requirements that he mentions in the video they probably simplified it for snes
Actually, deceptions means "desapointmente" in french, portuguese, spanish and italian, the first time i saw the name of the game, i actually tough if it was going to be a real deception for the player xD

Mortal Kombat was *not* the first video game in history to use live actors as sprites. 2 games did that before MK. Reikai Dōshi: Chinese Exorcist and Pit Fighter came before it.

Hi, enjoyed the video. I may have a correction. On #7? The first live actor or live action video with digitized sprites game used wasn't MK. It was Pit Fighter the arcade game, as far as that concept of fighting game. It used live action players though not many of them to select. Pit fighter was around I believe in 1989-90.

MkX was definitely the best Mileena design. Probably some of the best designs in general. A nice blend of power fantasy and practical with a little sex appeal for both sexes. 11 just got weird… especially with the plot, but the whole “everyone must be clothed from head to toe, despite the fact that actual fighters fight with less clothes” but gotta get those “uPdAtEd fOr mOdErN aUdiEnCeS” pearl clutcher buck$…. In mortal kombat…. Cuz you can’t have any sexiness with your insane graphic violence
