And also, WHAT IS GOING ON?!
While West End theatre producer Sir Cameron Mackintosh has been quoted as saying the Phantom of the Opera is closing 'permanently' in London, the show's composer Andrew Lloyd Webber continues to deny this.
Why might these two wealthy theatrical heavyweights be fighting via press releases over the long running show?!

1million seconds is roughly 11.5 days, 1billion seconds is roughly 32years. No none needs that much money

I think they will use the new UK tour set (which is a carbon copy of Maria Bjornson sets and costumes). I am a fan of phantom and I was gutted when I heard it could be closing. I was Sad I wouldn’t get to see the show one last time. I believe they are refurbishing the theatre as well which is really needed.

I have seen Phantom twelve times. It's the best show to go to with out of town guests. Don't know what I will do now

I think ALW has the upper hand here, it is as after all his idea to bring it to the stage. He must still have enough rights over the show to bring it back in its original format. Maria Björnsons estate must have got most of the copyright clauses.

It should just be Andrew Lloyd Webber for bringing back phantom on Broadway

i saw phantom on the west end a few years ago and honestly it was very disappointing compared to broadway and even the tour in the early 2010s, honestly changing it up would probably be a good thing esp if they go w something closer to the tour version

Phantom has had a killer run and should close and let another show in there, once its safe to go back to live theater. its still playing in japan, and once Broadway opens will still be on Broadway, things can't run endlessly for ever, its just not fare to other producers and other musicals or plays.

If something is a success, why shouldn't it run forever. Put out a show as amazing as Phantom, then let that show run forever, too. Lots of losers, lots of theaters.
