Thanks man, it was a pleasure getting through the suite. Wonderful method for folks, who were not academically trained in music, to enhance their hearing, harmony, voicings.... Definitely starting another one right away :) Cheers!
You did spectacular job Ashton. Respect! The best so far in my honest opinion. Any chances of project session file ? Would kill for checking your strings settings especcially these at 3:31
When you said this score was one of your favourites, I was like really!? But then after having listened to the whole video, I must admit it made me appreciate it much more! I guess I’ll give another listen to the score 🙂 Thanks for these videos! Always so insightful! Love them! I wish you would do one from John Powell one day! 😜
Great video Ashton, always feel home with these videos. Great score of course. Complemented the movie beautifully. The first movie was much more emotional I found.
Wonderful and impressive breakdown! A part of me is very inspired by how you manage to re-create such an amazing soundtrack with so much ease, while the other part of me sadly recognizes that I'm more than twice your age and have nowhere near the skills and abilities you possess. I was curious about what keyboard you use and if you alter between weighted and semi-weighted keyboards when recording/composing for different instruments. Hoping for more breakdowns of amazing scores in the future!
Hi! I just switched to the Native Instruments 88 key weighted. Loving it so far.

It is always a pleasure to watch your videos..Hearing your works to see your work..Making music Creating is so much fun. You are in your world in the element of music..Continue like this. You have a good flow .. I look forward to more videos from you
Really appreciate your efforts and dedication to analyzing every film you do. I always learn a tid bit or more about how each composer operates and it deepens my capacity to compose. Your clearly gifted my friend, God bless!
I think Benjamin Wallfisch has a very recognizable style. While watching Shazam, i didn’t know that he composed the score, but i guessed he did. But IT is his best of the ones I’ve heard (although A Cure for Wellness is pretty awesome as well).
Thanks for this! I’m curious, when it comes to voicing strings how much are you keeping the rules of 4 part harmony in mind? (i.e. not doubling the 3rd, avoiding parallel fifths). I ask because I’m really sorry working on my string voicings. I’ve recently heard Mike Verta say that the rule of parallel fifths is something you should mostly break. Thoughts? I appreciate any insight or resources on this.
Beverly got me started to compose music- when I first heard it, I got goosebumps and took my breath away- and I hope one day that I make something like that
Straight from the DAW. You can see a pretty comprehensive list of libraries by checking out the MIDI file or opening one of my older Cubase files (gladiator or Interstellar perhaps). Lots of Orchestral Tools and Spitfire mainly.
@@AshtonGleckman Thank You Gentleman for the reply. Sounds straight from the DAW is quite interesting. Still wondering how one could achieve such perfection with sample libraries. Great work. Keep them coming. God bless you.
Yesssss. Meet Joe Black, 1917, Shawshank, The Judge, Saving Mr Banks, bridge of spies. Literally anything he’s done- gorgeous. Especially the first two. My favourite composer.
@@samjohnstonemusic6328 Yes, absolutely. The films are always great too. I can recommend the soundtrack of "Tolkien", "Horse Whisperer" and "Angels in America". The last two are only available on TH-cam.
this was so sicckkkkk. any chance youll be doing a behind the score for batman begins ashton? one of my fav sountracks from hans zimmer and howard, would be really cool to see you do it :)
Can you do into the score, La casa de papel season 1-4, Its amazing, never heard something like that! The composer is Ivan M Lacamara. I think I love his music then the music of Hans Zimmer. But both are amazing
Nice video. Just a personal suggestion, maybe next time you can try to give us a score reduction, lead sheet, chord chart, or even full score to support your score analysis.

Ashton, what do you think was in the very beginning: melody or harmonic progresson? Thanks for this cool video, one of my favorite scores!
Both:)
Loved this one! Could you do an analysis of a score by Thomas Newman? His scores are absolutely mesmerizing and evoke so much emotion. Thanks!
