    It helps a lot to see how you manage to make such a great souding score using only virtual instruments. You are a true inspiration keep up the good work and thank you for posting these videos

    Your chase for knowledge is inspiring. Keep it up. Great work with Season 2 so far. If you consider requests - I'd love to see your re-creation of scores done by Junkie XL, Trent Reznor, James Horner (Mad Max, Social Network, Avatar, etc)

    Hey Ashton, Thank you for the amazing content you're making, helps a lot for begginers like me.
    If you were a begginer, with no Library sounds, and a low budget like 1000$, what libraries would you buy? I kinda love the same style of composers that you recreat on your videos.
    PS: Sorry if my english is not perfect!
    Regards !

      Thanks for watching! I'd deffinetely recommend Berlin Orchestra Inspire. The sound and sampling quality is incredible, and it will deffinetely get you started on the right foot. From there, you can start to build the individual sections, as it only gives you certain instruments / combos directly from the Berlin series. It also doesn't come with any synths, so I'd recommend Omnisphere. Those two VSTs will get you going quite well imo!

    Hi,
    In the the technical overview, you mention using automation as your expression ; what about the dynamic modwheel, do you still use it, or the automation is sufficient ? thanks man

    • @AshtonGleckman
      @AshtonGleckman  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Theo! I deffinetely still use mod wheel. While volume automation just controls what expression normally controls (volume), modulation is essential for moving between the different dynamic layers of the library. I will record using the mod wheel, and then I'll add in the automation afterwards.

      Ok thanks a lot, I'll be sure to try it in that order. Great part also about the mix job , very helpful & I'll definitely take a closer look at Meyerson's work. ciao thanks again!

    Stupid question. What is the actual "definition" of a suite?

    • @AshtonGleckman
      @AshtonGleckman  6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It's a number of things forming a series or set. Another word for it would be medley. In this case being multiple pieces of music arranged together.

      Juanjo Jiménez I just went into the Cubase color preferences and changed the colors to black, then in premiere I selected the lighten opacity.

    Why are all modern composers just clones of Hans Zimmer?

    • @TaryllBaker
      @TaryllBaker 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Darshan Sen - The Composer - Two words: temp music.

    • @gustav4821
      @gustav4821 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Because movie makers want what they see in succesful scores today; aka Hans Zimmer staccato strings with big, dark brass and more focus on sound than melody

    • @AshtonGleckman
      @AshtonGleckman  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Many composers deffinetely are cornered by temp music. Hans, who is a creative genius has been cornered by temp music before. It's close to impossible to find a composer who hasn't been at least slightly affected by it. There's things in this score that Hans wouldn't do, and theres things that he would do that are very much so alike. Every score I pick, I pick because I find something interesting and enjoyable about it in particular. If it was a straight up clone of another score in every way, it would be a better use of time for the audience and myself to just go to the source. Hope that makes sense!

    • @TaryllBaker
      @TaryllBaker 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ashton Gleckman - I had to deal with temp music for my latest project. Director wanted something like he had in place, so I gave him what he wanted but in my own way. Ended up entirely different and he liked it. Just takes some work to prove you can make something much better!
