When I was young this is the movie that made me realise that I enjoyed the score as much as the visuals. I particularly remember the Ice Dance scene, massive turning point in my life realising how powerful film music can be.
Are you kidding me?! Your mock-up is incredibly accurate and just beautiful! Thank you SO much for doing this video. I'm only 6 minutes in and am flabbergasted, lol. Maybe one of my best finds ever on TH-cam.
I bought the soundtrack when I was in my late thirties )I'm 67 now). I used it to go to sleep. It worked like a charm every time. One day I took the CD with me on a long trip and listened to the whole thing, not realizing that there was one of the most romantic songs I have ever heard at the end of the CD, by Tom Jones - "With These Arms". I don't even like Tom Jones, but, I fell in love with him that day, lol. Since then, I've found videos of him singing with Janis Joplin, of all people.
never loved movie music so much as a kid in the 90s until I saw this movie... then I researched Danny Elfman and found out he composed so many other themes I loved (Batman, Simpsons, Beetlejuice, Tales from the Crypt, Batman Returns), and so many more later on in life!
I am so Blessed to see Danny Elfman in Hollywood Bowl in Oct and Banc Stadium in La year prior. His musical talent with Movies and his Career are something to brag about. I love Danny Elfman and I would love to see him every chance I can get.
its a great pleasure to watch you grow up, Ashton! Thanks for sharing your Life with us.... Your Mom and Dad must be very proud of you! I miss a bit the BTS downloadable Cubase Files which forced me to get into all the Orchestral Composing stuff recreating your Mockups with different Libraries. Atonement was my favourite! Thanks again for all you did the last years!
You are a class act @jazzdude. Thanks for your kind words. And yes, we are proud of this “kid” and beyond grateful for all of the amazing people like you that have supported him both musically and with his film projects. Have a kick ass day!!
Good GOD, man!!!! You NAILED it!!!!!!! I have NEVER heard a synopsis of... well, dare I say it, my FAVORITE composer of all time. ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!! Thank you!!!!! SO much for sharing your phenomenal understanding of one of the all-time magnificent compositions ever made to picture! I mean that! Thank you 😊😊😊😊😊!
A magical and marvelous composition of Danny Elfman. Of all the music soundtracks he created for a fiñm of Tim Burton, "Edward Scissorhands" is my favorite score, along with "Batman".
45:20 this Db/f is the neapolitan chord, a very especial chord for this style, because it makes the bridge from classical to modern tonal music. This happens because this chord was one of the first to force composers to chromatic mediant relationships. It is a substitute for the subdominant and its intensified form, this is why you have the G after this . 1:01:00 The modulation to chromatic mediant is common romantic technique, it is beautiful, but nothing incredible. Regarding the inversions, of course one has to use inversions in classical music, hard is not to do it? . Russian romantism is a very important influence there in the ST. Tchaikovsky and Co.
Awesome as always! Edward Scissorhands is easily one of my all time favorite soundtracks, and your programming really makes it come alive. Knocking it out of the park yet again! :D Could I ask what Kontakt patch you’re using on those tracks called «HZ Strings»? :)
Ay love all of your content. Can you do one episode for Casper by james horner please. That score means a lot to me. Thank you for your incredible videos
Congratulation and all of thanks for share your work ! I m interesting how type of Virtual Instrument do you use for strings ? Thank you so much If you will answer at my question
Hi, great analysis! Please could you say which version of Logic and which additional plug-ins you are using for the instruments and choir in this video please?
Thank you! The choirs are Liberis from 8dio for the children's choir and Lacrimossa for everything else, mainly women's choir. For Logic, I believe its version 10.7 or 10.8.
I was referring to the aesthetic of the neighborhood and the production design, not the time the film is set. The rich solid colors of those ranch houses is super 1950s/60s styled. 🙂
Congratulations on being shared by Elfman himself! You have done amazing work here! Thank you for taking the time to truly honor this score.
The Edward Scissorhands soundtrack is the loveliest most celestial soundtrack I’ve ever heard
When I was young this is the movie that made me realise that I enjoyed the score as much as the visuals. I particularly remember the Ice Dance scene, massive turning point in my life realising how powerful film music can be.
I literally played the Ice Dance theme when my daughter was born, it literally should be the first piece of music she ever heard.

Stumbled across this after seeing Edward Scissorhands at the theatre. Absolutely phenomenal breakdown of the score. Mind blown
a timeless classic for a reason. so hauntingly beautiful

@@AshtonGleckman What orchestral libraries did you use? It sounds incredible and so real. Kudos for your MIDI-skills.
Can you do Babylon or La La Land?
It might resemble 50s or 60s suburbia but it's not. Jim's father has a VCR. Personal four head VCRs didn't exist until the late 70s.
