Swayman has 152 games played in the NHL. No cups, no Vezinas, no MVP. A promising young goaltender. He isn't worth the big bucks yet. I said from the beginning, he's worth 5 years @ 6 to 6.5 million. If he holds out for too much money, trade his rights away, get something. It's not worth the long term gamble, he hasn't proven himself as a long term starter. He is holding the team hostage and that doesn't sit well with me.
Ticket prices are ridiculous already… $8 million for Swayman is not reasonable. Korpisalo and DiPietro looked pretty good tonight. If Sway can get $7 million he better grab it.
bruins offered 6.2x4, which is probably more than he's worth. but he thinks he's vasy, bob, or price, despite the fact he hasn't even been a starter yet. swayman's arrogance is the only reason he doesn't have a contract.
Why did the Bruins approach the Swayman camp the way they did...less business like and more people like? Had the Bruins played hardball (eg gone for two years at the current salary instead of just one) would the fans be crapping all over the Bruins for doing so?
Hope Sway settles for a bridge contract to prove, that he is 1 tender worth and then sign a big and long contract. Right now, we simply don't know if he will collapse over the extra play.
see, igor is significantly better, more proven, and has actually been a starter for several years. swayman, who has only been a tandem goalie and has accomplished nothing, is not comparable. if the best goalie in the league is paid 10-11, that doesn't mean a tandem goalie, which is all swayman has ever been, should get anything close.
No. My understanding is that you have to have played in the NHL for 7 years or be at least 27 years old to be a UFA (Barring any contracts you're under). He will not qualify on either count next season.
We know why he isn't signed. He's a but hurt, cry baby, who thinks he's Patrick Roy. In his warped mind, he probably thought he should have won the vezina in back to back years. He's 1-3 in game 7's and the one he won was the mapleleafs. Give me a break.
problem is that there's not a lot of teams looking for a top tier goalie who also have the assets to make a trade. If Bruins are trading Swayman then they'll deff looking for a goalie prospect back in a deal which the only team I can think of is Detroit since they have 2 top tier goalie prospects.
@@swen1208 ...today. I only see possibilities. And those can/might/will be totally laid out differently in a month or two...maybe even for next season. A lot of this stuff is that selling a used car mentality...pretend you're half-interested etc to try and get the vehicle for as close to nothing as possible. So many here seem to be immersed in these unsavory protocols. Regardless, one can be assured that there are interested buyers for Swayman's services. Are you not seeing these possibilities because your thinking is only dealing with what you believe to be known, today?
If the Bruins are offering 6 and Swayman wants 10 then it makes sense for him to not play for the year. If the Bruins have an "off year", Swayman will get north of 10 on a long term deal. Not playing means no chance of injury so the next year salary is a lock.
The leverage is, you don’t sign you don’t play this year.

wasn't holding onto ullmark the ultimate leverage for the bruins? why did they deal him away before signing swayman?
he had no-trade protection kicking in on july 1.
