    Hi Ray! So sorry I'm so far behind! Really glad to arrive to see your poppy seeds! I've never had a poppy seed head that large before. No matter what ones I order, they always come out tiny! lol The collection of seed is the same with them as well, but not near as entertaining as those big ones!! A very good idea to label! Especially as we get older! Loved this! Have a great week, my friend! Stay safe!💚

    Hi. I like your channel and I have just subscribed im just out the army and recovering from some injuries so iv taken interest in my garden to keep me moving. Im new to bread seed poppies. I have some wooden box pots full of compost. I planted my seeds at the end of march and they sprouted quickly with a few seedlings standing out but over a few days they all seemed to disappear so I planted more and put netting over them to stop birds and slugs but the same happend again. Do you have any idea why? Any advice would be greatly apreshiated

    Super useful video! I’m sat in my allotment now and have some papaver somniferum seeds waiting to go. The big tennis ball sized ones so we’ll see!
    Would it work better to sow / germinate them in either a root riot cube or a coco or peat expandable jiffy cube. In a germ dome on my windowsill then when I see some activity simply move the things I planted it and put the whole thing into my allotment bed? Or am I better off just doing the sand straight on top of my bed? I would feel way more comfortable doing them on my windowsill and then bringing them to the allotment and planting the whole root riot or jiffy pellet into the bed next to my potato bed.
    Also should I plant in an open un shaded place or behind my shed where it’s more shaded? Obviously j know they don’t like full sun all the time but we are in England not Afghanistan lol. I hope you get back to me coz your a fountain of knowledge!

    • @mikes9223
      @mikes9223 ปีที่แล้ว

      Plant directly in to bed for best results. Also I recommend you broadcast am organic all-purpose fertilizer like a 4-4-4 or something similar before planing to increase yields. Topdress fertilizer again when they begin to bloom . Keep em moist especially the first month or so once mature they do not need to be watered

    What sand is that? I’m planning to grow poppies in September from seeds which my neighbour let me collect from her wild poppies. I have leftover builder’s sand from my loft conversion; can I use that coarse grey sand? Or does it have to be fine sand?

    Sorry if i missed it, but what time of year is this?

    • @GardeningforBeginners
      @GardeningforBeginners  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Spring: This is the most common time, ideally between March and May (depending on your specific location). However, the flowers won't bloom until the following summer.

    • @GardeningforBeginners
      @GardeningforBeginners  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Autumn: If you want blooms in the first year, sow the seeds between late August and October. This timing works best for some poppy varieties, so check the specific seed packet recommendations for best results.

  • @Offensiveword
