  • We've been wanting to get to the Gippsland Lakes since we bought the boat and now after a bit of practice sailing we're ready to do it.
The plan is to sail out of Paynesville down past Ocean Grange and into Bunga Arm where we'll spend two nights camped. The wind forecast eased as our weekend away approached but hopefully there's still enough wind for a good sail. Oh and we may or may not find ourselves grounded. Lets see how it all pans out.
I want to show that with a bit of research and enthusiasm you can teach myself how to sail, or at least I hope I can.
Join us as we venture offroad, chasing landscapes painted with rich sunset colours and some beautiful swimming holes.
Get out there and travel Australia, it's amazing.
    Enjoy!
Thanks for watching. Don't forget to like & subscribe.

Sweet. I just took the bike up there the other day to Point Wilson. Met a couple that hired a yacht from Metung. Said it was $500 a day.
Went on a Sonata 7 in the Marlay Point yacht race couple years ago. Its a good spot and if you got a boat, you're definitely making the most of the area.

Its a beautiful area, the Gippsland Lakes. Sonata 7 would have been a nice boat to sail. The Marlay Point race looks like a real adventure.

@@VentureOffroadAustralia4x4 Yeah it's good fun. I was doing sailing classes with the Loch Sport Yacht Club and connected with a couple people through there to take part as crew. Big night but bloody friendly people.

Great little trip, and the first of many on the lakes I'll bet. Perfect boat for the lakes too, swing keel I presume?

Yes swing keel and definitely the first of many trips on the lakes. We had a great weekend. Thanks for watching.

Hey great video, I have enjoyed watching you guys learning to sail. I have a 25 foot Roberts that I sail around the Gippsland Lakes and I would just like to mention that it’s pronounced Bun Ga Arm 🤣 keep it up guys 😁

Thanks Renee, I'm terrible with place name pronunciation 🤣. You have a great location at the lakes. We will definitely be back. Make sure you say hi if you see us on the water.

The Gippsland lakes are beautiful, very lucky to have such a big lakes system at my back door. Keep an eye out for me too, my yacht is called ‘Blow Out’ (I did not name it 🤣). Once the weather warms up again I’ll be out there most weekends 😁

Hi guys, love the Channel. I have recently bought a trailer sailor just like yours. Could you tell me what application you use for navigation?
If anyone else has any nautical navigation suggestions that would be great 👍

Hey James, I'm glad you're enjoying the video's. We're using navionics for navigation and we're really happy with how easy it is to use and how accurate the charts are. We did use Cmap originally but they stopped the free version and the paid version is far more expensive than navionics.
Happy sailing, where are you based?
