If you are looking for city life Hanoi isn't bad, if you want a nice beach and city life without the chaos Hai phoung is really good

Definitely worth a visit. 3 cheers for Vietnam Airlines providing above average service. Some tourist traps can spoil the fun like paying high entry prices to places like Hoi An supposedly being vehicle free but the engine sounds one hour later is deafening and the provided tickets let you see less than a quarter of it.

I’ve never been to Vietnam but I think my top 3 are Da Nang, Hoi An, and Ha Long Bay. This was based on what I have watched on TH-cam.
Having lived there for 4 years, those are good choices. I'm going back to Da Nang in November and can't wait
