- Join me as I hike and explore the rugged and stunning Big Sur, CA coastline. To me, Big Sur is one of Califronia's Crown Jewels along with the Eastern Sierra. It's where the mountains meet the ocean and truly is the best of both worlds. I show you the gorgeous turquoise water of the Pacific Ocean and hike through a dense, lush Redwood tree forest. The scenery is breathtaking!

It’s been almost 30 years since we drove and camped the west coast with our, then, young sons. The scenery is still stunning. But the quality of video is sooooo much better, it’s like being there again. Thanks.

That full moon shot was amazing! I really enjoyed this past full moon. The night sky was so lit up. Think I'll head down the coast and camp there in a few weeks. Thanks for the video.

What an impressive coastline! I will never forget the first time I visited the Oregon coastline and how I was awestruck by its stunning beauty and immensity.
If you haven't visited Big Sur, I'd highly recommend it.

My favorite place in California if not the world! Big Sur is magical and the coast in that area is stunning. Everything is so grand and you feel so tiny and blessed to be among the Sequoias’ that you can’t help but want to hug those trees, many of which are thousands of years old. The biggest older than when Jesus walked the earth. Reminds me of how short and precious our time is here.

Now that is what I am talking about!!!! Lol. I lived in Carmel for 1 year two blocks from Mission San Carlos and attended school there . I explored every thing I could possibly explore and my mom gave me the freedom to do that.....been to Big Sur many times and every time I go is like the first time.... the air has it's own unique freshness and character there and this brings me back to my youth as a 9 year old. I walked every beach....explored every tide pool...hiked up and down the Carmel river....investigated the bird estuary over and over again at Carmel River beach and knew every shop and restaurant in downtown Carmel. Saw a lot of Monterey also. You captured it so well in this video...incredible camp site and great moon!!! Sunsets and forest hike was sooooooooooo good!!!!!! I hope Big Sur remains under developed forever. Going there makes my year every year!!! Thanks Catherine!!!!!!

Your dedication to your channel is admirable going through so much trouble placing yourself in your shots and taking time for editing different scenes and sounds. But I wouldn't miss a day of hiking in the woods in rain for a work day or anything else. The sounds, smells and scenery in the woods under rain drops are fantastic and rejuvenating, making you feel you're alive :-)
I had a feeling someone would comment about that. haha. I hiked in the rain in my next video.
Another vid where the memories all came flowing back. I have hiked that same trail and also others in Big Sur where you can backpack in and do an overnighter. We spent some time on the Beach at Limekilns too , we would take a row boat and row into the ocean to fish alongside the cliffs. Back then we were invincible and never scared, I don't know if I'd do a rowboat these days. Caught a few Lunkers off those shores. Lots of creatures would come into our camp at night and try to raid the food too , mostly Racoons but others too, including Skunk and Fox. Truly stunning pictures and video my friend and I would have to agree with you that besides the Sierra the Big Sur and Monterey peninsula is one of our best gems in the whole state of California. In my golf days I qualified for four straight California State amateur championships which were held at Pebble Beach golf course and spyglass which to this day are my favorite golf courses. Great great job as usual!

Thank you for the reminder. I was there in August and as always it is beautiful beyond comprehension. Without hiking into the park for yourself (immersion) it is difficult to really absorb. You did a nice job of communicating the experience. BTW, the moon @ 11:17 is gorgeous.

Absolutely spectacular scenery! The aqua-blue ocean, the gray whale spy-hopping, the trees, bridges over rocky creeks and rivers just took my breath away. I've driven pass Big Sur but haven't actually hiked it or camp there, so it was a real treat watching your beautiful cinematography of it. I spent a couple of summers in Monterey learning underwater robotics, and saw just a bit of that area one weekend. Wish I had seen those redwoods!! I did have one of those expensive diet cokes!!🤣🤣
