Cool harvest guys I just love how the boys are so into helping out and excited to see what they helped raise. I hope you and Meg realize the best crop you got going is the future homesteaders you are raising. Just stop and think how far ahead of the curve they will be from where you had to be do unhappy with life to start. They already know and feel the connection to earth food and life that God gives. Great job that's why I enjoy watching you guys. Keep up the good work and God bless you all

I failed to plant my slips. They're still sitting on my window sill in the kitchen. I believe I'm going to keep taking care of them there until spring, then I'll plant them. I'm thinking instead of planting the slips in an actual bed. I'll make a long soil hill down the side of the fence, and plant the slips there, and see what happens.
Nice sweet potato harvest!!! We love sweet potatoes as well.

You have the best kiddos. I love how happy they are to go out and do things with dad (& mom). I would love to hear all of their names again.... I know there is Corbin and Jack, but the two other boys' names always escape me! I am assuming Munchie is not his real name 😉🤣. It's so sweet to see your boys holding Buggy. She's grown up so fast and is getting so big!
I went back on a bit of a binge-fest watching your videos from the beginning, as you were still planning your great adventure. You have all changed so much, except for Meg. Meg, whatever you are doing to keep you looking as young as ever, you have to bottle that up and sell it. Ben you are looking fantastic too. It was amazing how much younger you looked without your beard and long hair (which I say you have to keep - looks good on ya!!!). The beard and pony tail are your signature look now and it's awesome!
Anyways, thanks as always for the wonderful content. I love your family and your channel. I'm disabled and while I do get up for a few hours at a time throughout the day, I'm pretty much bed-ridden. I've been painting Christmas cards these days, haha. It's fun and gives me something to do when I'm upright. My daughter set me up an Instagram (@heathersartcards, if you want to take a look). It's not very impressive, as I don't really tend to it. That's her job and she's a busy 21yo now, haha.
Thanks again, Ben and Meg. Your videos are always a bright spot in my day when you post.

It's really interesting that the compost end of the sweet potato bed produced more impressive foliage but smaller, paler, softer 'taters. I wonder if it's the case that stressing a plant just a little often leads to less foliage but more abundant fruiting -- as though the plant is thinking, "This might be a lean year; better set more fruit (or tubers or slips) so we can try again next year."

Put some olive oil into a shallow baking pan and cut the tators in rings about an inch thick. Don't peel them. Bake until bottoms of the circles are brown on the bottom. You wont ever want another whole baked one. It's like eating a dessert and they are sooooo good. It brings out the taste of them. OH I forgot, sprinkle with some salt before baking.

I’m at the start of the video. I can’t wait to see what you grew in buckets 🪣!
Oh yes!!! SWEET POTATOES!!! 🍠 I love to see children enjoy growing and learning from their parents. That’s why I enjoy growing now. I saw my grandmother, mom, my mother’s cousins, and my aunts growing food in backyards and on Acres of land.
I think I’ll try growing sweet potatoes in a few 5 gallon buckets
Thank you all for sharing your beautiful journey!

The happy family 🌟. ❤️ Halfway thru the growing season, cut back the vines. It allows the energy to be put into the potatoes (to grow). Also, those vines are extremely nutritious for people as well as livestock &chickens. Sautéed in butter, garlic, salt & added to omelets- YUM. Somewhat like spinach. Great vid 👍👍❤️ (sorry, already wrote my comment prior to watching your whole vid).

It's so wholesome to watch how eager the Homestead family ALL are to bend their knees to the soil and reap the rewards of the harvest season; even lit'l Buggie's chatter of encouragements to the beds add that special yum once mom places her benediction over the meals. What a contrast to what the 'world' views as 'Bounty!' Sweet Dreams when its time to recharge for the morrow! : )

have you thought about growing sweet tatters in a stack of old tires ? I tried it and got a bushel from one stack of five tires . You can cut the inner half of the sidewalls and turn them inside out so they will stand taller . fill the first tire with dirt or compost and plant your slips , when they have grown tall enough to peek above the next tire , fill it with more dirt . Continue until your stack is four or five feet tall . The vines will cover the tires and look like a bush . At harvest time just knock the tires over , no digging .

Digging potatoes is one of the most fun, satisfying garden activities. So glad we got to share this special time with all of you!

When I was a toddler, I would escape to the cow pasture (fenced with barbed wire, I learned early). My Mom finally had to get my Dad to build a 7 ft. fence around the yard, with a locked gate.

Absolutely LOVE sweet potatoes. I boil mine, slap some butter on it, drizzle honey over it, pinch of salt...yum yum. Always prefer sweet potatoes over any other potatoe.

Fine filmmaking at 10:10, using a lovely insert shot to show the passage of time.

I got more than 2x the harvest in my one packing tote with no pest pressure than my 3x15 bed.

Love watching the boys reactions as they harvest the sweet potatoes on their own.
