Maverick didn't even need the F-35s for that mission. They fire a literal boat load of Tomahawks at the airfield to cover the F-18s going in. Just send the dang Tomahawks at the target and keep the F-18s on the boat lol.
How is a tomahawk gonna destroy an underground facility if I may ask? Also how about B-2 with MOP after the enemy air force is destroyed, crippled or on rearm/refuel?
@GuyHoldingABird Same way the bombs they dropped did. Hit the ventilation shaft star wars style. The bombs those F18s dropped weren't bunker busters or anything special. B2 could work also. I'm just going off what we knew they had deployed already.
I was thinking the same thing and the reason it would work is the aa missiles didn’t even go for the tomahawks when they were striking the airfield and even if the aa did go after the tomahawks if you sent enough of them only one would need to make it
How about an old vallry of death? Instead of modern missile trucks, put the old ww2 SPAA and fly WW2 planes through it. With it maybe have enemy fighters which is a reason you need to fly low so they dont see you
Remember, multipathing only occures at 60 meters, or about 180 feet straight down from your plane. So you should switch ralt in settings to go red at 180 ft And stealth is almost NEVER 100%, it is only minimizing cross section at some angles
quick tip. in warthunder (and irl too i guess) missiles are VERY VERY hot. so a cheeky aim-9 (any IR missile will work because SAMs are so hot but you probably want a manoeuvrable one) in the front aspect will shoot down the incoming SAM
its quite unfair, as the british countermeasures (more specifically the ones in the BOL pods) are at 1/4 of the effectiveness of the base countermeasures, so for 1 base flare you pop, you need 4 from a BOL pod to achieve the same effect
Stealth doesn’t mean undetectable… the nighthawk in game probably isn’t perfect, but as far as we know is fairly close to it’s real life stealth. The f-117 does have a fairly comparable rcs with the su-57 based on simulations.
Unless I'm thinking of a different aircraft isn't the f-15 the one that's currently 104 And 0 in air-to-air combat including killing a helicopter with a bomb, like that's why the radar cross section is so big that is the f-15s Aura surrounding it to scare off The enemy before they get there
@@PanzerPaw however, im pretty sure its the only plane that has killed a sattelite (dont 100% know if it was the f15E or another f15 variant), so the f15 is atleast 1-0 ahead on SPACE

The ASM-135 was carried exclusively by United States Air Force F-15 Eagle fighter aircraft. I hope I helped you with a little of knowledge,(I was doom scrolling on that website wedipika or sum for hours and I finally get to use this legendary knowledge)
i mean technically its not really top gun, the mission was to stay as low as possible so the radar doesnt detect them, they werent fired at until the last like 2 minutes of the actual mission (objective)
Going by their current naming for elite infantry with Special Air Service and Special Boat Service, I'd recommend Special Ground Service for the low flying aircraft.
The F-20 has one GE F404, used in the F-18 Hornet, not the Pratt & Whitney F100 or GE F110 engines used in the F-16.the difference in engine power being around 10,000lbs of thrust.
@PanzerPaw according to Wikipedia, the GE F404 in the F-20 tops out at 17,000 lbs of thrust, while current F-16 engines start at 17,500 dry, all the way up to ~29,000lbs of thrust. Of course the Falcon weighs 18,000lbs empty, compared to the Tigershark's 11,000, so odds are, you are looking at a similar t/w ratio in a combat scenario.
the flakrakrad and rolands used here are actually not radar guided, the radar seeks out targets, and then allows you to lock on with a sacloc guidance system(essentially tv), in the movie, it is specifically stated that the defensive sams are radar guided, hence why they're trying to multipath the missiles, instead of going straight in like f16s would do in operation desert storm. so if you tried to redo this challenge but with other defensive systems it would work better, you could also simply move those that are the problem to places where they don't have line of sight, meaning that they won't be able to track you unless you go too high.
based on this, basically any aircraft capable of carrying the corrrect type of bomb would be able to do the first part of the mission from the movie, its the second part, getting out of there, that is the problem.
The issue is what SAMs actually work when we add them to missions in the CDK. Only a few of them will actually fire. So the Roland was the best option I could work with since the search radar and missiles would trigger the RWRs on planes and so it would *look* right. Using the movie as a reference for IRL mechanics tho... I mean, they're break turning and dumping flares to evade radar missiles so... Tbh tho, the thing I was trying to get as close as possible was the flight path itself. Weaving through the canyon followed by a 'pop-up' and roll into inverted dive to level drop. I think that part was at least kind of close to it. But yeah, in the movie, they didn't have to dodge missiles while doing too lol
Also, for the enemy aircraft and escape part, that was actually planned! I wanted to get two enemy fighters (probably J-J-10s) to spawn and chase you as soon as the target was hit. But, the spawning and weapons didn't seem to work for me.
@@PanzerPaw didn't actually expect an answer so thank you very much, and all those reasons are genuinely good ones. Maybe trying a seperate video for the escape part, maybe as a sort of custom battle could be cool? Perhaps even drawing in friends to help in other aircraft?
@Algo2-2-3 It would be great for the F-16, but not so much for the rest of the team trying to play Ground RB - top tier would probably end up with a really miserable level of air dominance, and that would generally make being on the ground in Ground RB much less enjoyable. I mean, can't you just fly like 10m above the road if the plane is maneuverable enough like the F-15 ? Trying to go left and right and on the flank of mountains not only is gonna make you much more likely to crash into a tree or the terrain but also make you lose a lot more speed and make you go much higher in altitude where the radars have no problems with locking, firing at and tracking you. Btw, I think only the height straight down from the ground works against the radars, going on the flank of a mountain would be the same as just being at the same height above the ground in mid-air without the mountain.
