How'bout using the jib to shield the kite? Or even better take her down on the winward side so that yoiu don't need to go around the whole process when you'll have to fly her again on the next lee. It doesn't take much more power once you have both sails trimmed.
I disagree with the term "safe method" : the crew should stay in the descent, not sit on the roof. She is at risk of falling overboard doing the same manoeuvre with more wind, waves.
Nice! Now with more wind =)
Thanks
Nice and easy. Thank you for the video.
2:52 to 2:53 there was a 1 second gybe?
They start to drop it on starboard, then continued on port somewhere middle of the video and finished starboard. interesting
This sail scares me a lot. I'm going to ask my old sailing teacher to demonstrate.

Is there a reason not to use the snuffer?
Fast crew is quicker without a snuffer, plus it tends to get stuck. I use my snuffer when cruising with the kids, but never in a race.
probably worth mentioning two people is ok up to force 3 - But 4 - 6 then you will most likeley need three plus up to 34 feet and 4 plus 34 to 40.
She says ‘release the guy until the clew is on the forestay’. Shouldn’t that be the tack, not the clew?

Never go before the wind without your washboards in
