Just imagine, if this was a twist + click version. The click would be functional. One twist would bring the tip/cone piece out then you would click the click button to bring the refill nib out like a normal retractable pen. How cool that would’ve been.
There was something months back on reddit that had updated pictures of the the older and newer silver 800s and this guy said they now do aluminum for the eu because of brass being unhealthy in some way and I was highly confused haha I have a silver on the way tomorrow so definitely looking to see
Story about what happened with mine, I had it for about 2 months, I always had it clipped to my pocket of my jeans, and somewhere along the way the twist mechanism broke off, I must not have noticed at the time, as I just woke up to put my jeans on, and say that it was missing and only the plastic part underneath was showing, I looked around the house and work, seeing it i could find it, but no go. So, I contacted Rotring via their phone number for North American support, and told them this, and inquired about warranty, they told me that they could not really do anything with it for me, as this model was initially just for the japanese market and they do not have it in stock, and the best they could do is offer me a different pen as a replacement, a Rapid Pro is what they said. So they told me to contact the seller i got it from which happened to be Amazon. I asked if they could even just ship me the part by itself and I could just repair it, they said they didn't even have one in stock to do so. I contacted amazon, and told them and they quickly resolved it by telling me they would either refund me or ship me a new one out, and I chose to get a new one shipped out, as it is a pen I like and want to keep, so I am hoping this one doesnt suffer the same fate. But yeah, if you are in North America, be mindful when buying one in the event you need warranty on it from Rotring, luckily I used Amazon and am a Prime member, so I explained it and they took care of me, but i imagine if you buy one from some other retailers, they would not do this, and may be out a pen, or just have to settle with one of lesser value.
It's the refill clicking against the side of the barrel. The area around the writing tip is slightly too big on the Rotring 800 so it clicks when you write. It sounds like a suction sound in the video, but it's more a "click" in person.
Sal, do you know if the Moleskine Brilliant Blue fits this? As i tried with mine’s Rotring 800 BP really quick and it doesn’t take the cartridge. Can you please tell me how can you make it fit??
I bought this pen and it has some play at the back end where the rotating mechanism to extend the lead is located, is this normal or was I just unlucky with this pen?
@@unsharpen yeah, found that out. It's nice, just running a Parker gel in it for now. Only thing I'm noticing is that within less than a week the black on the knurling is already rubbing off and can see the metal underneath coming through in spots, and this is just from pocket clipping to jeans... not that it's a huge deal as I think it's going to look cool that way, but didnt think it would do that so quickly.
Not really. It’s a cool pen but the inconsistency of the twist from one model to the next and the tip rattle are tough. Also prices have increased a fair bit.
How are you even surviving with all that tip wobble! It's not exactly quiet so I know it can't be pleasant to write with :D Regardless, it's a beautiful pen. I'd love to have one, but I have a 600 on the way already.

Yea would be very cool
Might get tiresome performing 2 actions to extend the pen though.
Hey brother I have a question do you know if all rotring 800 silver are now aluminum? Thanks!
I believe they are brass. But I haven’t bought a new one in a few years.

So it's a fragile pen dressed up to look rugged and durable. 'A sheep in wolf's clothing', so to speak.
Thanks.
Does the 800 really make that clicking noise every time the tip hits the paper?
Mmmm.... I'm thinking that could get real annoying after a while.
Yes it does and it drives me insane.
They are like 30 bucks on amazon right now. Is there a way to fit a pentel energel into it?
Does the pen always make that clicking noise when writing?? Anyone have suggestions for other sleek twist open pens? I’m not a fan of clickers
I have an Everyman co one which is a more budget example. Works great though and there new refills work OK
I know you like the Torqbar I was not a fan until the Mini and Luna came out. Do you have one or will be buying one?
Just out of curiosity is it possible to join together the main bodies of the 800 with the 600?
Are the threads same size?
4:30 what is that ugly suction click sound when you are writing?

@@unsharpen thanks, I wonder if the rubber stylus one is better...

There shouldn’t be any play at the back/top component. There is usually some play where the tip meets the refill which is a known issue
Where could I buy this multi pen, I can not find it in Amazon. Thanks
Mine will be in tomorrow. What refills work with it? is it like the 600 that can use Pilot g2 refills?

These are 40 bucks on Amazon right now...
Good video. Is the pen pretty solid when extended? (No wiggle?) And where did you get it? I don’t see it on rotring’s website?
'No answer; came the loud reply'
Would you recommend it now?
Not really. It’s a cool pen but the inconsistency of the twist from one model to the next and the tip rattle are tough. Also prices have increased a fair bit.
Will a Rotring clip fit on a Kaweco special ballpoint?
No it’s too narrow
@@unsharpen thanks.

Did you find a refill that works well without the wobble?
That clicking when you wrote was very loud!!!! What about tip wobble?
Lots of tip wobble on this one
Thanks, great video!
Are the ones that are 60-40 bucks on Amazon fake?
It sounds like this has terrible tip wiggle/rattle. The tip should make no sounds when put to paper.
Yea it’s a flaw with the 800
Does it fit with JetStream refill?
Only the Parker style Jetstream.
What refill do u recommend for it?
thanks i'll check it out!
@@unsharpen, I have the same question. Sorry for necroposting, but perhaps you've had a chance to find the best refill?
I can't afford this.. Thanks for the video!
@Hope Gojmerac hahaha stfu
Wow.. quite loud as you were writing.
