Half-Life 1 Speedrun in 27:54.868 Scriptless Any% World Record
As the first sub 28 minute run, this may entail the start of a new era of optimization to conquer the barely fathomable sub 27. A new approach towards improving skill as well as routing needs too be carried out in order to reach peak performance.

Before you comment, Half-Life in 20:41 is indeed faster, but that run is something far different from this run. This run was done in one sitting by one person. Half-Life in 20:41 on the other hand, was a group project done over 4 years by segmenting, which is closer to a TAS(Tool Assisted Speedrun) utilizing saves and demos to make a perfect run similar to a TAS. Meaning this is the World Record for Half-Life in one sitting by one person.

@@xzempty_8387 That was also a segmented, and probably a heavily script-assisted run. Those glitches are hard to do without that kinda help. This run is full 1 segment with no scripts, so it's completely different.

I was grinding to get the first run below 28 minutes and I did! Two days later Muty got a 27:57 run and a week later Proto beat my previous WR (28:05) with a 28:03. Both runners have had several runs that had very good potential to get the sub 28 before me. It was especially unnerving as there was no where in mind that a sub 27 was achievable in this category and sub 28 minutes was it. I'm very happy I got it, although I believe that sub 27 may be viable. It'll take lot to get there and I'm going to have to give it my best and approach the game differently from what I've done so far. I'm not entirely sure what it all entails but I'm very excited to try it out and see!

Insane non-segmented run!!! Clearly time was lost compared to perfect segmented execution, but as a no-assist run this is insane!!! Surely it can be beaten and considering the time-loos in certain sequences I think you will beat you own record... But a sub 27 min one-sitting no-tool-assist run..???? I really REALLY wanna see that!!!

Just got done rewatching the opposite of this run Freemans Mind. This run took less than 30 minutes Ross took more than 7 years.

Half life was my first game on PC, i was 13 yo, and it took me about 9 months to finish it.
I got SERIOUSLY hooked on this game after the first 15 minutes. I originally finished it in 5 evenings/nights........... But I did nearly end up losing my job for falling asleep more than once at work that week. I think over those 5 days I'd only slept for about 12 hours in total !! I kept thinking "I'll finish THIS level then I REALLY must go to bed", but 9 hours later I'd realise that the story had dragged me along and I'd kept going long after I should have called it a night (Erm...........Well, technically that should be "Called it a morning" I suppose. LOL ).

i highly dislike half life speedruns because they are allowed to quicksave at every choke point and reload. its like using a save state on an nes run and when i mess up pressing f1 to retry the part at the loss of 2 seconds
