      @Elpida Agapi Thanks for the kind words in both your comments, we appreciate that!
      Re Thai Visas, sadly they are very strict there. 4 options: 1) Apply for a single entry visa before you arrive to get 60 days, extend once at immigration and you have 90 days. Leave for a while, repeat. 2) Arrive on the free visa exempt and extend once at immigration and you have 60 days. Leave for a while, repeat. 3) Check the link below for the multiple entry options, these are harder though. 4) Do a Google search for "self defence visa thailand" this one is 12 months, but there are a few hoops to jump through. Totally worth it if you plan to stay long term though.
      Jonny FD does a good job of explaining a lot of CM related stuff on his post: www.johnnyfd.com/2015/07/johnnys-guide-to-chiang-mai-thailand.html
      Hopefully thats all helpful.

    • @DanegerAndStacey
      @DanegerAndStacey  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      No worries! Vietnam is probably the easiest because you can apply for 6 months in advance and it’s multiple entry. In terms of extensions, Philippines was incredibly easy and you can just keep doing them back to back without needing to leave so that’s helpful!

    Living in Sweden and not have to pay crazy amounts for insurance sure made World Nomads look extremely expensive! It was our most dreaded cost before we head to SE Asia. So I am really thankful for the link for Safety Wing - another one of your awesome tips :) Thanks guys!

    When we went to Bali, Canggu we stayed in a house called 'The White house'. Its about a 15min drive outside of main Canggu. But it was so beautiful as they had just finished building it, and we got it for $20 NZD per night. So if you guys end up back in Bali again maybe that could be a cheaper option for you guys. *It is a bit further out from the touristy area but its nice because it was super local and quiet. We found it on AirBnB. Thanks for another informative vlog!

    Another great breakdown of costs and thank you ! It gives us, my wife and I, a bit of a benchmark for expenses while we plan our own nomadic life in mid to late 2019. We love to travel, and our biggest dream has been to have a life filled up with experiences from around the world. Two weeks ago my wife said "Let's do this. I want to travel, see the world, like we have dreamed. Our time is now."
    We caught on to your videos by chance, made notes, dreamed, talked, bought and read your book and now we are making plans ! My wife is from the Philippines, so our obvious first stop will be there for a while to visit the fam again, explore the islands and new areas. From then on, the world is our oyster.
    Thanks for the videos, thanks for the insight, thanks for the dreams, thanks for the knowledge but most of all, thanks for keeping it real !
    See you both in our travels !

      We lived 2 months in Ubud. It was amazing, and so much more cheaper than what I heard now in their video from Canggu. We spent for a month for groceries, accommodation, eating out, scooter etc. same as what they paid only for their house rental. We spent around 800-900euros a month in Ubud! ✌ And beach is not far, when we felt like going to the beach we just drove and hour to have a beach day.

    I was on the road for bout 4 years and towards the end when I would meet people and we would go out to eat I would tell them I wouldnt go to "expensive" places to eat bc you could find a much cheaper place which was as good or better than the "fancy" places...they would commonly reply with, "XX is still so much cheaper than back home in EU or USA or XYZ". You can never compare what you are used to back home with where you are currently...and after the 4 yrs on the road I actually started to think 10USD was expensive because I had such a full background of amazing experiences with food for $1-2 USD, hahahaha!!

    • @DanegerAndStacey
      @DanegerAndStacey  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      We tried everywhere - airbnb, agencies etc and ended up arranging via a Facebook group. I did film a bit that I had to cut (video was long) about how annoying Canggu/Bali is - there just arent good 1 bedroom villas there and it puts us off going back. Everywhere else we've stayed long term, $600-$1k USD gets you an apartment with fridge and cooking facilities, lounge etc. In Bali it's either $400 on a crappy guesthouse or a 2 bedroom villa for $2k. So frustrating.

    Nusa dua is lovely and we'll maintained and clean but prices are ridiculous with tax on everything it's definitely a one off Nusa dua.
    Seminyak so far has been the cheapest ☺

      Oh see we think Seminyak is the most expensive, even Canggu cafes are cheaper than there! We spent a few days there and will share a video or 2. Nothing bad about World Nomads at all Mark, you're still in good hands! , For open ended travel we're now with Safety Wing because of that subscription type approach, we can pause or stop when ever and never over pay. World Nomads is perfect if you know your dates of travel as you prepay for the trip upfront, in our case, we often will book a 1 way ticket out of NZ and have to guesstimate when we will be back - that could mean paying 2 months extra, between 2 people, thats 4 months of over paying we'd like to avoid if we have the chance!

    Hmmm, with the bottled water, you are doing it the wrong way. You need to remove the whole lid. Some water refilling stations in Asia would want the lid back (reuse) but others (in VN) they don't. In the PH, they would want it back but it's okay if you don't return it since they will just let you pay an additional 2.00 PHP on your next water bottle order.

      Ahh but if you take the full lid off and then try and tip it over you launch 4 litres of water all over the floor hahaha. All of the bottles we returned, to a few different places, all had the lids on and the slit in them. Vietnam we always had one with a hose on it, so could leave the lid on, can't recall what we had in the PH though... guess we need to go back and see :P

      @@DanegerAndStacey well, there's an Asian trick of pouring and not spilling! LOL. We do it all the time and I think I am now a master. But true, I also spilled a few ml's of H2O when I started doing it the first time.

    You spent only a few months there not credible. You booked short term accommodation

      Which is legit 20- 50% cheaper but still $1700 is like half of what I spend in South America.

      That's kinda the point and standard for most nomads, it's definitely credible. We've spent over a year in Bali.
