"I was so honored and so happy. And I really love the city of Berlin. It's the first time at the Berlinale - I mean, it's my first film, so I'm just so honored and excited and I can't wait. The theater is so beautiful, and the festival has such amazing energy and I'm so happy."

    9. SOUNDBITE (English) Greta Lee, actor:
"We did a lot of things, like, we weren't allowed to see each other at certain times to create an authentic sense of longing. So, there was a moment when Teo and I hadn't seen each other right before we reunite in the movie. So, I think moments like that felt very challenging and very real and uncomfortable, but kind of, ultimately, glorious, right?"

"Those scenes when we first meet on screen, that's actually the first time when we actually hugged in real life. Same with John, my co-star, when I first met him on screen, that's actually the first time when I actually met him. So off-screen, we made a point of not seeing each other. And then, I don't know, there was kind of a natural chemistry there because Celine was so great in taking the lead, and yeah, it's just fun to shoot that scene together."

    16. SOUNDBITE (English) John Magaro, actor:
"I certainly can relate to it. I'm married to a Korean American woman. No matter how much you try, there will always be an outsider; there's a language barrier, cultural barriers. So, that's one of the reasons I really identified with this script. And I really fought to be a part of it. But that being said, I still feel like it's a story about growth and adulthood that is relatable throughout the world."

    STORYLINE:
Playwright Celine Song brings her cinematic debut, "Past Lives" to the Berlinale on Sunday (19 February 2023).
The film is currently screening in competition for the Golden Bear-the highest prize awarded for best film at the Berlin International Film Festival.

"Past Lives" is an English-Korean language drama following two childhood friends who are separated when one emigrates from South Korea but reunite two decades later in New York.
Teo Yoo stars as Hae Sung, Greta Lee as Nora and John Magaro as Arthur.
Yoo says that Song made sure that his life paralleled his character in the film.
"Those scenes when we first meet on screen, that's actually the first time when we actually hugged in real life. Same with John, my co-star, when I first met him on screen, that's actually the first time when I actually met him," said Yoo about meeting Lee.

Magaro says he is pleased to play the role of Arthur because he relates to the character.

This film was the best I’ve seen in a long time. I can’t believe it was her first movie. And the main actors are outstanding in it. They’re on my radar. Another great Korean film. I will see anything made by Korea these days. South Korea that is.😊

Some of the strongest evidence ever brought forth on the reality of reincarnation (not involving hypnosis). Birthmarks, scars, and photographic evidence. A Civil War general’s reincarnation, plus a great story of a young boy, 9/11 and the reincarnation of a New York City fire lieutenant who perished in The North Tower. The full story as told by the boy's mother on (and off) Carol Bowman's popular Reincarnation Forum starting in 2007 up to the present day. The books full title, Fire in the Soul: Reincarnation from Antietam to Ground Zero. The author is Jeffrey Keene a retired Asst. Fire Chief.
