I live in a gated community and it is nice, so they realize it is probably safe. Sometimes they are nervous when they first arrive, but that dissipates as I am not intimidating. When I was growing up people would judge, criticize, make fun of gay people just by how you carried yourself, dressed or talked. When you talked about a date with someone it was usually done with some one you trusted or knew was also gay. Today these young guys talk about being with another guy sharing there encounter world wide with zero shame or worries and proud to show their faces, as if nothing. Amazing how times have changed.

So I dated a cop for a bit, and, not relevantly, earlier I dated a marine. What amazed me was that although both handsome and built, they were both total bottoms. Not expected. This was probably four decades ago since I have been with my husband for 3 1/2 decades now. But attraction is just human and not something related to decades, although how we find it is. No Grindr (Grinder?) back then. I have seen it, & thank goodness it was not around when I was young. Sadly, AIDS was, not that I got it, but it was horrible and prevented too much dating. My cop was strangely not too bright (nor the marine), but he was very handsome, and so scared of any indiscretion on my part re: his being gay. Of course, we all were back then. Nice guy, but, unexciting. I sure hope he found the right guy for him. Nothing more could I wish for him.

He asked me where I lived and I told him I had an apartment on such and such a street. Lo and behold he drove me HOME!!! When we got there he followed me to my apartment and asked if he could come in. He wanted to have a conversation because he could see I was still shaking. He embraced me and then I sat. I was stunned when he removed his uniform and asked me to get in bed with him. I was in total shock!!! 1964 and I got arrested by a gay cop!!! WOW!!! We had a relationship until I graduated from college in 1966. Two of the most wonderful years of my life!!! When I went away to grad school, I heard a couple of months later, that he had been killed in the line of duty!!! AND I DID NOT HAVE GRINDR!!!!
