Im embarrassed to admit it took me to 2023 to realize TP's title screen theme was the Zelda main theme.
Believe me- you're not the only one😛
twilight princess is my favourite game of all time and i still managed to miss that, so you're not the only one xD
TODAY I LEARNED
…. i can’t with that
you too?!
Dragon Roost Island leitmotif during the fight against Colgera and the whole "Last fall" ost made me tear up
That whole song is brilliance. Also the way the music contains melodies that sounds like actual wind is really cool as well
Hearing Daruk’s theme in the fire temple made me think I was hearing things. I was beginning to believe that I had played too much BoTW and AoC.
I agree with you about Tulin's theme, Yunobo's and Riju's theme: I didn't even know that they had character themes because their theme aren't as iconic as Sidon's theme or The Champion's themes.
I agree with Tulin and Yunobo, but Riju's is one of my favourite tracks in the game
Ah but I always loved yubobo's theme. Cool how different people latch onto these things
yeah, cause my favorite was Tulins lol @@goonglab
Another reference I found: in the 'Mineru's Counsel' memory, at around 2:30 when she talks about Dragonification, the Dragon theme from Skyward Sword can be heard very faintly in the background. It's four ascending notes!
Thank you for the tip! We will credit you if we end up using this later🙂
@@Zeldisc the same bit of the Skyward Sword Dragon Theme can be heard in the Light Dragon theme at around 0:49 !
yooo just wanted to say the ToT theme in TOTK is actually a version of the song, just really broken apart, different instruments take the melody at different times. It’s more complex music theory reference but it’s absolutely there.
That's awesome! Thanks for the input🙂
In the Fire Temple, you can also here a few notes from the Ocarina of Time Fire temple. 25:58
Cool! Other than the chanting we included in this video? Would you like to elaborate? We will of course credit you if we end up using the information you are providing us with🙂
fun fact: the song that can be heard in the trailer when link is trying to catch zelda, the song also appears in the gerudo desert theme for twilight princess, not just the three songs mentioned (i'm a big nerd when it comes to twilight princess), also i love this video it's super good!
That's so cool! Thank you so much
There actually is a reference to Aboard Vah Medoh in Phase 3 of the Wind Temple. There are some fast faced strings that resemble the strings heard all over the original song.
That's so cool! We will make sure to credit you if we end up using this later🙂
The clip at 17:34-17:52 ish has the exact Medoh rising strings in the background!
There is also a reference to attack on Vah Rudania in the instrument that plays in the first sections of the fire temple
_THE ZELDA MUSIC IS THE BEST ONE!! Thanks for all the references, totk music is so good_ ✨
Check out how the Lookout Landing theme changes after doing the main mission at Hyrule Castle. It incorporates Purah's/Hateno Ancient Tech Lab theme in a really cool way. I also like the implication that Purah is playing the recorder sections of the Lookout Landing theme as well as the Hateno Tech lab theme considering she is always holding a recorder and also has it on her backpack in BOTW.
Omg how have I never noticed that!!!
That's awesome! I didn't notice! We will credit you if we use this information later🙂
I probably never would have noticed the various hums link does while cooking. I'd played so much breath of the wild that I just instinctively skipped those cut scenes
Also at the beginning of the Castle Theme at 12:10, Nayru's Song from Oracle of Ages plays briefly!
Thank you so much for the tip! We will credit you if we use this in part 2🙂
I like to think Mipha's theme playing during the Muktorok battle reflects Sidon thinking of her. Fighting for her or with the spear techniques she taught him.
THIS IS PHENOMENAL!! I'm not even done with the video and I can already tell just how much effort and work went into this. Plus it's good to have someone else appreciate how amazing the Age of Calamity themes are. If I can find any more references I will gladly send them your way under this comment.
We appreciate it! We will gladly accept🙂 We will credit you if we end up using your suggestions!
@@Zeldisc I found the goods!! Blizetta's second phase from twilight princess sounds similar to Colgera's theme and the dungeon complete theme is the same as the Age of Calamity.
@@dantheman15 Wow thank you so much! We will look into these suggestions🙂
ngl i couldn't help but start tearing up a bit while playing and hearing the soundtrack with all the nods to past games, even now can't help but tear up listening again to the ost after completing the game a couple times lol
i dunno i just think it's really neat how they threw in all these references and added so many details, zelda's always been hella close to my heart 😭❤
Hi guys!🙂 Thank you all for the love on this video! It's our first video and it means a lot to us that so many of you liked it! We know that some of the references seems far fetched or not intentional, but we wanted to include everything we discovered. We didn't even think that our first video would do so well! again- thank you all so much
Just wanna mention that every time you say "skip to the timestamp shown on screen" there is no time stamp.
But other than that, this is an amazing video!
@@xaoz2362 This was a mistake from our side. We are new to this, but we added the timestamps in the description! We will most likely continue doing that🙂 Thank you for the feedback!
@@Zeldisc I should point out that those small musical notes heard at 4:54 and 8:35 do _not_ sound distinctively similar to those of Age of Calamity's main theme having a more vague melody with notes which contrast the faster and more energetic theme of the game. To me this 2 melodies both in the trailer and in the openworld of Tears of the Kingdom stand _on their own_ as seperate pieces composed by Nintendo without Age of Calamity in mind.
That said this was a great analysis video! 👍😊
@@javiervasquez625 Thank you for your feedback!🙂
ngl the sacred duet is what blew me right away cuz im just... so happy to even be told that spirit tracks was used cuz man.
god game. xD
I feel the same way! Spirit tracks is an amazing game
THE INTRO IS SO CREATIVE
i love the call backs and the entire game bringing back all these motifs and ideas and really doubled down on making this game feel more zelda in this open world concept
what an amazing first vid!! You could literally spend hours analyzing the different references in each regional phenomena quest, especially how they connect to each of our new sages and their characters! (I always tear up when Daruk's theme plays in phase 4 of the Fire Temple, it's so emotional and powerful!)
Amazing quality & editing, I can't wait to see more!💖✨
I love it when high quality videos from small channels get recommended to me. It's inspiring. Love your work
Thank you! We appreciate it🙂
26:24 fun fact: the chants heard in totk's fire temple are similar to oot's 1.0 fire temple chants before they were changed to be the chants used in the shadow temple
this was an incredible video and I loved all of the work and effort you put into this!! One of my favourite musical references in totk was the dramatic descent theme from Skyward Sword (from the end where you fight of hoards of enemies before Ghirahim) being used in the Demon King's Army fight, especially since those two moments parallel each other!! really, thank you so much for the incredible work!
Thank you so much! We noticed the dramatic descent theme from Skyward Sword playing too, so it's already included in part 2! It's such an amazing parallel to Skyward Sword🙂
I was shocked when you said it was your first video because it doesn't look like one! It was very well documented and full of references that i missed! Good job, and thank you!
Thanks a lot!
This was a phenomenal first video! You newer TH-camrs are really nailing it with your introductory videos! I didn't catch most of these references, and I'm typically pretty good at that, so kudos for your ears possibly being even better than mine! Can't wait for the upcoming part(s)!
Thank you! We worked really hard on this video so it means a lot🙂
I really enjoyed this... It even took me through a memory lane remembering beautiful melories from the Zelda franchise. This is another reason of why I love Zelda!
I didn't know about even half of the references, you did an amazing video finding all those connections! what an amazing video I'm waiting for the next;D
_The audio, the video, the editing, everything has so much quality_ 🤧
_Please keep it up, the entire video was so amazing!_ 😭💫
this was a really good video, i subscribed!
Underrated video! Even the background music for your explanations are bangers
How do you only have 30 subscribers? These videos are very high quality and provide your audience with information in a very fun and engaging way. 😊😊👍👍👍👍
This is pretty cool but I wish you categorized some of the important melodies better. Several times (like at 4:49) you refer to TotK's "dragon theme" as the AoC main theme/spirit tracks thing, which while it does absolutely share the same notes, the dragon theme is absolutely something different; and in the moment I time stamped, Zelda says "I know why I'm here"... and the dragon theme plays... just a cool musical moment I wish more people noticed.
Thanks for your input!🙂
Hey! I am not entirely sure if this counts but the gerudo desert theme from TP plays during the attack on gerudo town track. More specifically, it seems TOTK just takes the background beats and removes the main melody. If you play both at the exact same time they are identical!
Thank you for the tip! I've looked into it now. It's right at the start of the track, when we just hear some notes, right? I just wanna make sure we are on the same page! We will credit you if we end up using this in part 2🙂
@@ZeldiscI only just now saw this lol! But yes you hit the nail on the head! Hope you have fun doing more content in the future!
Also goddamn thank you for using DS games music in the background. They are so under appreciated
I agree! I love the Zelda DS games🙂
_This video made me want to play zelda so bad. The cooking music references were so good!!_
Great job! I’ll eventually cover as many TOTK music references as I can. You got a ton of them. Love the first video!
Kevin
ZMT
Thank you! It means a lot to know that an actual musician enjoyed our video☺
THE INTRO WAS AWESOME, like you're going to play
I didn't know it was the windfall island theme from wind waker. a hidden gem!
1:53 I'm sobbing 😭 I'm the BIGGEST Spirit Tracks fan and I didn't even notice the reference to the sacred duet! I've even sung the TOTK theme to myself and made fun of how it sounds like the Miraculous Ladybug theme
19:10 It’s actually a later part of the two songs, near the end before it loops. Great video! I haven’t finished it yet, I just wanted to comment that before I forgot 😅
Amazing! and this must have been hard work! Can’t wait for the next video ! You pointed out so much more than I heard !
There have been times running around at night where I swear I’ve heard Zelda’s lullaby in the overworld. I’m pretty sure it’s mixed in there.
On the topic of Urbosa's theme: Those notes are actually heard in Divine Beast Vah Naboris and Gerudo Town too
As a long time fan of Zelda music, this video earned a subscriber!
Fantastic work on finding all that you have!
Zeldas lulliby also comes from a link to the past
Yes! I'm so sick and tired of ppl saying it is from OOT when it's actually from ALTTP
Like 60 percent of the recurring musical themes come from there- the village, getting the master sword, ganon, hyrule castle, and part of the field theme (I think?)
@@JohnSmith-wv5kmTruee, yeah, good point! ^^
I did recognize some of the themes (Its my favorite thing to do when rewatching trailers and cutscenes) but I could only recognize ones I've heard in BotW and AoC (Like the main AoC theme and zelda's lullaby because I've only ever played Botw and AoC T.T) I just love all the theme references!
great video, love your narration!
Absolutely loved this. As a Legend of Zelda enthusiast since the original, I picked up on many of these, but there were a bunch i missed. I hope you had a good enough response to post part two. Great work
Thank you so much! We have been working hard on part 2 lately! We hope to publish it really soon😊
Beautifully done video! I enjoyed it deeply since I love how the composers fill the Zelda games with so many musical references that tie the series so well!
Wow I didn’t even know this was your first video! This is great!
This was such a well crafted video! I enjoyed it very much and loved all of these musical references you pointed out! There were so many times during TotK when I thought a tune or melody sounded somewhat familiar but I couldn't quite figure out what they may have been connected to. Thanks for the effort that you put into this one! Best of luck with your channel ^^
Thank you so much! We are glad you enjoyed it😊
Really well made video, you guys deserve more subscriptions. Nice work, subscribed.
For the Gabon’s tower reference, also botw Hyrule castle has that part. That’s actually probably my favorite part of botw’s castle theme
Great job on the video 😊. Breaking down which exact point is great and thorough.
This is such a detalied and amazing analysis! Love the video
Fantastic video! Can't wait for part 2!
Not sure if people realise, but the Age of Calamity leitmotif is actually taken from a small section of Breath of the Wilds theme, and Tears of the Kingdom also pulls from this same part of the Breath of the Wild theme
I wish I could go back to May 12th and experience the wind temple for the first time again. I got so excited everytime I spotted a musical reference, and even had a few tears during the boss battle when the dragon roost island/rito village theme broke out. I’ve been waiting months for someone to make this video!! Awesome job👍
Thank you! I love that they added so many cool musical references in the wind temple! The colgera theme is such an amazing and nostalgic soundtrack
I just wanted to say that after playing the game this is the first type of video I looked for. I'm glad it was recommended
damn your first video and it's amazing, can't wait for part 2
Wow, what a great video!! Can’t wait for the continuation!
My favorite musical part of the final trailer was the OG Overworld Theme (4:34) running directly into Zelda's Lullaby!
I love that part too, it's so well made!
This is excellent! Love the music of this game, it keeps on giving!
What a well researched video. Thank you!
Amazing video, I subbed!
Amazing Video! Thank You. Enjoyed watching❤🎉
Thanks! I'm glad to hear🙂
23:35 i would say this motif in the water temple and the waterworks is more of a reworking of the ending bit of sidon’s theme’s melody, rather than the faron woods from SS. it may be that though
VERY good video. I didn't even notice some of these like Vah Rudania's theme in the Fire Temple. Holy moly...great job guys
This was really well done video, I never caught any of the music references on my first playthrough
Great video!
loved this 💛
really great video!!!
This video was amazing! It deserves more views (:
Great job!
Really good video, keep it up !
So many references! Huge work tracking them down and cutting them up. The format of the video works perfectly!
I have yet to play a lot of the older games (botw was technically my first zelda game) but holy god all these references, despite having no knowledge of the context for the original songs, i still get insane chills hearing them. also anytime they use or reference zelda’s lullaby i lose my mind bc ive fallen so in love with the tune
Excellent video, so much research and love! I immediately recognized 9/10 songs Link was humming and I loved it - the original BotW humming song was the only one I failed to recognize while trying to listen to his songs. I want to add something to the "Final TotK Trailer" - on top of all your mentioned references you can also slightly hear 3 seconds of Urbosa's Theme from BotW (around 20 seconds before Zelda's Lullaby at the end of the track).
That’s so cool!😊
Amazing vid
My brother refuses to believe the spirit tracks reference is actually a reference bc he hates spirit tracks
(I love spirit tracks sm)
Thanks for making this awesome summary!
One thing I would recommend though is to swap the order you play the clips. In my opinion, it's easier to hear the reference if you hear the original clip first. I kept having to rewind the video to hear the TOTK version again
Thanks for the tip! We will consider this🙂
I don't know if it's a reference (probably not), but the Mucktrook theme also reminds me of Majora's Mask, especially the weird final boss one.
Everyone says that link hums the main theme while cooking but I always thought it sounded more like tal tal heights because of the minor scale
very nice first vid
You 100% deserve more subs
15:10 I think the two songs have similar vibes because of their instrumentation if anything. Its not quite the notes, but the feeling you get when you hear them.
GREAT VIDEO! NEW SUB FR!
Something interesting, the automated closed captions on this vid frequently produce 'thank you' when certain pieces of music (without narration) play. Have Nintendo baked in some ultra low volume subliminal shenanigans into these tracks?
That’s interesting! We need to look into this😄
Very good analysis, I think cooking hum which you think is Ballad of Wind Fish is actually Song of Storms, tempo matches better, also it might be just me but 4th phase of lightning temple kinda reminds me of Nocturne of Shadow, which would be somehow thematically fitting.
Thank you! Your points are valid, it's interesting🙂
I think another musical reference to the House theme 10:58 is when you enter a shrine of light and you hear those first few notes of the house theme
I haven't noticed that, but that's awesome! We will credit you if we use this information later🙂
Every time I hear a Zelda song reference I get goosebumps
The algorithm has agreed with your choice of first video. 👌
We are super grateful
great video
Love it
Did you know that the great fairy fountain theme is a reference to the great fairy fountain theme in all the other Zelda games? 🤯
4:13 you forgot ocarina of time too when link zelda and ganondorf are all in the room
As a huge fan of spirit tracks how did i not notice the references
4:56 This is just that clip. The full thing more clearly resembles Tears of the Kingdom’s main theme /nm
Fantastic research, great video. Sub'd
Eeeek this is amazing and im a huge zelda fan too
