I’ve just paused after the ‘it makes me feel safe’ bit; what struck me is the way he looks across at the host on ‘safe’ & what I feel like is almost the tiniest hint of a smirk at the end. On an instinctive level it feels like an ‘isn’t this weird’ moment that he is sharing with the host.
@@TheBehavioralArts oh wow thank you! I’m always afraid to comment for fear of looking daft 😅 but your videos are fantastic & I’m increasingly finding that I’m seeing people through the ‘Behavioural Arts’ lens! My profession is very much centred around people so I’m enjoying using all your tips 😊
Will Smith seems so miserable. Him saying "ain't nobody doing better than me" was the saddest part of the interview. Like he was trying to convince himself. I wouldn't trade my life for his.
That's not quite how I read it. It seemed to me like he was saying we are all struggling through life in some way, shape, or form, and not that he has the best at life, or that his life is particularly great.
@@madzi3rdWhat I honestly, genuinely find so crazy about your comment is that Will Smith literally said these words( "ain't nobody doing better than me") at the end of long answer about his own very specific life ( 25:24 HIS wife Jada, what she said about HIM, HIS weird marriage and HIS situation. He's literally not talking about anything else than him) but still, you decided to "read" that "he's not talking about himself specifically" and make up a whole explanation... It is so bizarre to me how people can hear a clear, straight, undeniable sentence but still twist it to fit their narrative. And I'm not even exagerating when I say your comment makes me feel weird, because it's proof of how certain people will never listen to what you actually say. They will hear whatever they want to hear. It's so strange to me.
I love how Spidey is swinging his head left and right for “no” as he accurately and genuinely explains that doing so doesn’t mean deception. An example baked into the lesson!
I think the scrunching is ‘I don’t know why fame makes me feel safe’. Like he’s acknowledging that it seems counterintuitive. Thanks for another fantastic video! Really enjoyed this one x
It's weird, but I miss loving Will Smith. He was my favorite celebrity/actor/entertainer. I know he's human, but so much of the veil came crashing down after the slap.
i mean people change as they get older and more famous. all that attention eventually erodes away the goodness. so you can still have fond memories of who he was. and who he will be when hes a old man away from the fame for a for years.
I feel similarly. Reminds me that the images we construct of each other are very biased. I still think Will Smith is a people pleaser with usually good intentions. A decent dude with positive vibes. But he is also a reminder of the world we life in.
This is the only body language channel I watch these days. Spider is unbiased, he is honest and fair and points out observations that are both good and bad ... there is no conclusion bias. Other channels seem to only point out observations which put the person in a bad light as they know that the social media audience do not like that person... And thats something that make me question those channels character of the people who are on those body language panels.. So well done ... and thank u.
I totally agree with you. Maybe I’m being a bit biased, but if I watch another analyst on TH-cam… I’ll go to Spidey channel to see if he has uploaded a similar video and I’ll make my decision based off of Spidey’s analyst. He’s just so professional and unbiased. 😊.
I definitely feel compassion for Will. Sometimes we humans really get ourselves into big messes and have no idea what to do about it. As an imperfect person myself, I hope he gets the healing and direction he needs.
I feel sorry that his life and all the work he has done are reduced to this single moment. If he never understands it for himself he can't move forward. If he never explains and takes accountability, he will never be allowed to move forward publicly.
He could help himself in a huge way by finally calling time on Jada. She seems really toxic. Its weird how she seems to relish airing all the dirt so publicly, not caring how it will affect him.
Here's my take. Will wanted a healthy family and he is willing to go through all types of self machination (that is very easy to do when you're an actor) to get that. Jada loves a type and belittles Wil because he is not that. Maybe these realizations happened after they had a whole family. I think it is killing Will that he can't have that nuclear family and a co partner who loves him and the children as much as he loves her and the children. Jada wanted a thug and that slap was literally Will Smith trying to hold some of the energy of his family in place by trying to be that thug. Will is not that thug and it kills him that he can't get Jada to love, respect and deal with the Will that he is. I can't help but wonder if Jada is a narcissist. She refuses to help Will see his way out of this relationship because his celebrity is her Uber Ride to public visibility and career success. She is very superficial and Will is a very real human being with healthy emotions and a love of healing himself and others with humor. Thugs hurt people to obtain power and relevance, but Will is operating on a higher plane than that. Will can do healthy things to obtain self esteem and respect. Will is a good guy who will never be the thug that Jada is attracted to. I get this from her words. She perceives his advanced mastery of positive energy as weak, because she is super low vibration. The saying in spiritual circles is that positivity and high vibration can lower themselves to meet a very low vibration, but low vibrating people can't raise their vibrations to meet high vibrating people. So, to meet her half way, he acts like a thug. She did not buy it, or go "my hero" she rolled her eyes. That has got to hurt him even worse. He picked that to be married to and he is finally having the Chernobyl like meltdown that is inevitable from living through all that toxicity for too long. The only person he needs to stand up to, is her. Wil Smith, the real Will Smith is a beautiful advanced healthy person. He needs help and I hope he is privately getting it.
It’s good to hear that I’m not the only one that was confused and didn’t understand what he was trying to say. It sounded like gibberish aka word salad. That was certainly not a question he wanted to answer truthfully
I understood that he was responding to the “you didn’t necessarily want it public” from the interviewer because he starts off his response with “I did intent to make it public” meaning he wanted to open up his life with his wife. And all his responses that follow are in the context of it being public.
I was confused as well. I felt like he thinks he's being deep and as some sort of enlightener but it comes off pretentious. Like people who think there is some deep meaning behind an abstract work of art. They'll dole on about it to appear intelligent and deep, as though they have greater insight than your average lowly person. I can't stand that.
I really appreciate how you approach analysis. It is done respectfully, honestly and professionally. It's informative and entertaining at the same time.
I feel like the eyebrow scrunching around the topic of safety in the public eye analysis was spot on, in the sense that it shouldn't, but it does make him feel safe. For me, he's revealing a vulnerability around the subject of safety that he might not otherwise feel was guaranteed without his recognisable name.
The ‘makes me feel safe’ face, struck me as Will Smith having not really had this thought before and simultaneously realising that it’s not a standard reaction many people would have. He has spoken before about having therapy (I believe) and after a while people tend to develop an internal therapist. I wonder if, at this moment of his face scrunching up, if Will Smith was wondering what his feelings about fame making him feel safe might mean from a psychological perspective.
I agree, I think it's a realization that confuses him and I've noticed the same (or something similar) expression in myself. As soon as I saw it I thought "I do that all the time when I'm thinking/talking through something and realize something interesting "
It's almost like at that moment, he realized fame makes him feel seen, heard, validated, which in turn makes him feel safe because that makes him realize that he's worthwhile in his mind. Jada has invalidated him so much and this was almost a light bulb moment for him, kind of a, "see Jada, I am somebody". It's really spotlighting that lost and shameful inner child and telling it, "I see you, and you don't need to be ashamed". That look on his face, combined with his words, hit me in the gut.
Fame is power and power can make you feel safe. We see Will Smith the famous actor. When most people see him in real life they want a Pic, a hug an autograph. He's getting affirmed pretty much everywhere he goes. Recognition and appreciation feels like love and safety.
I think part of the reason he feels safe is because he’s a recognizable black man. He once said he got pulled over by police, and was feeling uneasy, black guy in a fancy car, but when the cop saw it was him he wasn’t scared anymore.
That safety is being treated special, just like the story you told. No matter where he goes on Earth he will be treated special and given things and opportunities most people will never get.
Exactly!! Hard to convey without the element of “racism” having to be drawn out into the light. When others will say “you’re wealthy, Black, living your best life, and you want to still say you’re oppressed, treated wrong, etc….” He is definitely in a “safe” space in America, and many other parts of the world having to wear “that” skin!
That is when things got really weird. 😂. I feel sorry for him because what is the purpose of an interview if you are not going to be honest. Just let the interviewer know ahead of schedule topics that are off the table because it made him come across as deceitful and lacking confidence.
I think he does that gesture of “it makes me feel safe” bc he has many insecurities that he hides, but with the fact of being famous it makes him feel like he’s definitely worth it. He needs way to much approval to feel valuable, and he is very hungry for it.
I do think it was that hunger that drove Will to slap Chris...all for Jada and public acclaim. I wonder if he did any substance that had seriously dampened inhibition.
@@jjroseknows777 you brought up substance which is interesting because I know he did that Ayuascha retreat multiple times, idk if you're familiar with that, but it's basically an indigenous type of ritual where people ingest a naturally psychoactive concoction that's sort of like a deep cleanse of your spirit and it reawakens your spirit and you feel enlightened, and I've heard it can be quite the mental and physical experience. Will actually said it was "the most hellish psychological experience" of his life. He said he saw visions of his career slipping away and I feel like that whole experience just led to that Oscars moment. I think those ayuascha journeys opened up some personal traumas that he's been trying to deal with ever since, and now he's in the healing phase.
Spidey, this was one of your best and most nuanced analyses. Will Smith makes a good subject for your work. My son does that nose scrunch, and after you described it and hit on "confusion," I thought, that's it. Like, "It shouldn't make sense, but that's what I'm feeling." I could almost hear the inner dialogue. Very astute.
I think the expression of him feeling safe, is because I think deep down he feels so dehumanized by the whole situation with Jada, that he thinks it's weird for him to feel safe that "nobodies" will know who he is, whereas people that know him personally don't even seem to respect him. It struck me as a confused sadness.
Good insight. It is sad when those u love dont love u back (at least not how u think u need them to). Maybe u r the problem. Maybe they are. But u still feel hurt and confused.
I'm really appreciate your education Spidey. I know in the past I've disagreed on some of your stuff with will smith, but I have really had to back up, stop and analyze myself. I put my emotions in the way, which is the number one No-No in profiling someone. So thank you. Thank you for all of your help in educating my ass, and helping me take my emotions out of the process. Enjoy your day.
It’s unbelievable how when he answered the question about Jada, he sounded like her. That whole “artful with the gift” thing. Sounds exactly like something she would say.
I think Jada is in full control of Will's life and has been running the show for a very very long time.. How horribly sad 😢 I know for me personally I grew up watching fresh prince and watched a lot of his movies. Once I started hearing and watching things unravel I lost all respect for him and Jada. Fake fake phony bolonies and that's most in the industry from the things that are coming out! Oh and evil!!
He and Jada thought that being open and talking about their relationship ‘agreements’ and ‘issues’ would help others. That is what he thinks the “Gift” was that backfired. And in the future they would need to be clearer with what they were saying and how they said it. And most importantly tell everyone that He is OK & Jada’s OK and still together and stronger .
Ain’t nobody doing better than me - I love when people are in abusive relationships and like to normalise it like everyone is dealing with this and they’re just being honest. No most people don’t have their wife sleeping with their sons best friend and you’re physically assaulting someone. Nah that’s a you thing.
She slept with him during a time they were separated. He was an adult. Its weird people are so offended by others sex life like its their business. And please stop pretending like he is in an abusive relationship. Its an insult to those actually living thru the nightmare of actually being abused
@@jamikatechaos9972He's actually not her son's age. Look up August Alsina then Jaden, as your reference. It was salacious for the media to call him "Jaden's friend" because that made it bigger. Will Smith has been having affairs with ppl the same age and younger than August.
I feel compassion for Will Smith. I think he's been through some hardships that I wouldn't want to have gone through in front of the whole world. He's not healthy yet but I hope he gets there.
I agree. He kind of looks like a victim at times. sort of like he's trapped in this life with Jada, but in other times, he looks like a predator on a mission. I really feel bad for all of them for betraying God.
I really enjoyed you contextualising everything at the end. As someone who reads a wide range of biographies, I think there is something to be learned from everyone. I just think we have a problem where we either love someone and put them up on a pedestal, or hate them and ignore all their advice. Thank you for your balanced approach.
I really don’t understand what he was trying to do at all!! If he is trying to clean up his image this did nothing for him, it seems to me like he is trying to hard but not a single drop of honesty comes out, I’m still so disappointed of his behavior and since the Oscar’s scandal cannot tolerate him, the only reason I saw this video is because of you spidey and your true review. Thanks for the amazing content
@@Brightangel55 Read his book. It's pretty insightful. I mean he even acknowledges Will Smith was a persona he created (to shield him from his own trauma).
I want to personally thank you for teaching me so much in just a few videos. Its really tough nowadays to find genuine people like you. Just by talking about how you view the world through goggles of of your own bias perception has taught me so much. Theres way too much horror, worry and cynicism in our world today. From the bottom of my heart, i thank you. And please, keep spreading that love, humility and knowledge over this troubled little blue ball we call home.
I’m so glad you said you were confused by Will’s response to the question of his and Jada’s relationship playing out in public bc I was lost 😳 I couldn’t figure out any of it at all. I thought of him sitting at the red table and Jada asking him about how he felt about her “entanglement” with their son’s friend and that was where he got “bitten”? I don’t know 🤷♀️ and what was the gift? Maybe doing things more artfully was in reference to the slap? 🤷♀️ Isad bc I used to really love Will Smith. But since he slapped Chris Rock (and he didn’t truly apologize IMO) and then the lies have come out about his and Jada’s relationship and all that, it all just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I feel like he has been protected not just by Jada but by Hollywood for far too long. Thank you for your analysis Spidey. Always look forward to your uploads! ❤ Edit to say that I so agree with the last part. The advice about living life NOW. Be in the moment. I learned that when diagnosed with an autoimmune disease that doctors don’t know much about at all. It is a tick borne disease that attacks my organs. I also have Lyme but this one is the latest one discovered. It is about 25 years since the discovery and it was only 10 years discovered when I was finally diagnosed with it. The specialist I see knows how to kill it. But it cannot be totally eradicated and it’s one of those where the “cure” can kill the patient. Much like how cancer treatments were way back when. So, I learned to live in the moment with my own children and husband. We are now raising our granddaughter and I’m present every day for her. I have a grandson as well. I just want to be here long enough to get her raised. So Will is right. LIVE TODAY. Your life is NOW. No one is promised tomorrow
Wow your life experience you shared here is so so sweet and so accurate. You can choose to worry about what your condition will do to you in the future or just enjoy right now with your family because that’s a certainty. Seems like you made the right choice 😊
His entire response makes more sense when you consider he was responding to the question about it all being public. He wants to be more delicate and deliver the gift of opening his life to the public. And when we said “nobody doing it better” he meant that everyone lives have drama and mistakes and mess but his is just more public.
The head shake for 'everywhere in the world' could also indicate a circular movement within his mind. We usually tend to use our hand (finger) when we say 'around the world'
Hey Spidey caught your show in Ottawa was fantastic love what you do!! great flow, charisma, intelligent, genuine and at the end encouraging local magicans!! always kind and respectful! If you get a chance go see Spidey!! Thanks!
I want to see a behavioral analysis of a dissociative identity disorder system. (I'm a system myself, I still struggle with believing I have it because I was gaslighted so much after I was adopted) It's so interesting watching these videos! Thank you for them!
That expression that had you confused is will smith's universal facial expression for confusion. He is saying it makes him feel safe while at the same time thinking it makes no sense and wondering if the interviewer would get where he is coming from. Basically it's his way of showing that he is questioning what he is saying. He has done that exact face for years
I'm so glad you decided to cover this Will Smith interview. I really think Will & Jada have one of the most dishonest public relationships but looking forward to seeing if you're analysis changes or reinforces my opinion. Thanks Spidey! Edit: This reinforced my opinion & it absolutely seemed disingenuous when Will said the meaning of life was unfathomable then proceeded to give step by step instructions of how to find it.
For me, I interpreted that “switch up” as saying there is no one or TRUE meaning of life. It’s all an individual experience. You have to look within yourself and look at the things you want to achieve and the way you want to perceive the world to create YOUR meaning of life. And once you figure out how to sit in yourself confidently, you will find it.
Thank you for the analysis of Will’s interview. I didn’t seem like a wise choice of words for Will to say “ain’t nobody doing better than me.” He rich and famous however, he still seems a little messed up in his thought process. Will also seems like he has manager to seek guidance from many different modalities and jumbles them all up together when answers questions.
I don't think Will Smith is any more dishonest than his peers.Ya'll just choose to focus on him and he unfortunately Needed a real hyattis and didn't take it. I mean. There are still following criminals in the industry of acting that are still walking amongst us like nothing happened and in some cases never really paid
SPIDY! You are awesome! I love your videos. Just wanted to say, we also shake or move our heads left and right when we scan an area or landscape. Will as a performer has stood on stages and scanned his audience many times.
Yeah when he says the 'no' gesture need not mean deception when discussing his top song, I actually did feel there was quite a bit of deception there because he almost totally dodged the question. I think he did not want to admit how he truly feels so he dodges and shrugs. Not that I blame him really considering how the media is but I feel like all of his answers are attempts to cater to what will sound best and only truthful answers that he thinks will sound good will be let through. On the flip side, he does seem to dodge the rest vs outright lying so I'll give him credit for that.
Wills association and closeness with Diddy, I will never look at him the same way. He’s getting what he deserves for doing what he did to his kids and others.
I also think maybe there is just the smallest bit if contempt at the fact that he relies on his fame to feel safe. This is someone who takes pride in power as we see from the early part of the interview. Depending on others recognizing you to feel safe takes power away from you and makes you reliant on their recognition. Don't know if I'm explaining that in a way that makes sense.
@@samstromberg5593 thanks for a respectful response. I like that about this channel. I like when people who have differing views don't feel the need to belittle or attack. That is rare in social media. It's a pretty cool community in the Spidey-verse.
@@AbbyViewssI agree. He says it and is confused because fame would make most people feel more vulnerable but because it makes him feel seen and validated, that makes him a sense of safety.
Sorry for the extra long comment but I hope that it brings value to the discussion. Every time I watch one of your breakdowns, I’m blown away by the depth of the analysis. I’ve been a subscriber (on my older channel and then this one) for a long time (in TH-cam time 😂) and have always felt like I should be taking notes. No shade on anyone else, but yours is my favorite channel of all the body language/behavior analysis channels. In my very humble opinion (but not really because I KNOW I’m right😂😂😂) the quality of the material and the fact that you almost always keep it neutral (or at the very least are upfront and honest when you are expressing a personal opinion), just make this channel heads and shoulders above the rest. I also love that you have a background in psychology and understand how people really work. I don’t believe you can successfully read people without understanding what really makes them tick, including how different backgrounds, experiences (traumas etc), and neurodiversities, affect a person at their core. I wish I could just sit down and chat with you and pick your brain for a few hours or (even better) be in a position to be in a mentor type program. My brain loves to go deep, but to really learn, it needs the freedom to ask tons of questions and to be able to practice until I get it. But this channel is the closest I’ll get to that sort of thing, so I’m very grateful! Until I am able to support monetarily, I’ll continue to support via the algorithm by “smashing that like button” and commenting. Thanks again! Through all the ups and downs and changes in life, this is one of a very few TH-cam channels that continues to be relevant to me.🥰 And please, no matter what success you find in the future, stay loving and humble, man! They are your most endearing qualities. I believe that is the real reason that you have as many followers as you do! I’m not a “like my comment” sort of person but if anyone reading this agrees, please do like it so it can be seen. I only ask because I think there are many others that also want Spidey to “Keep on keepin’ on!” 🥰🥰🥰
All the "confusing" moments are because he is deceptive with himself in ways that he is not aware of but thinks he is. It's like several meta-layers of ego on display. I can honestly say I actually DO understand what he meant by "look at me while you're looking at yourself." But it is also clear that HE doesn't really understand it, while acting like he does. Just something he heard that he thought was profound but never actually did the work to uncover the wisdom behind it. He furrows his brow when he says he feels safe as being famous because it's likely the only time he feels safe. He equates safety with external validation and the subconscious knows that's not good. That "who's doing better than me" was absolutely a protective moment. His subconscious and his conscious are in constant conflict. This is the case with many many celebrities. They can't reconcile their incredibly privileged lives with who they are actually are so the conscious mind just makes stuff up.
Look at you looking at me. I guess he simply means to observe your own judgment. People have whole ecosystems of thoughts about these people without even fully knowing if anything of what is being shown is even real or just an act to make them judge. If attention leads to revenue wouldn't it be normal to just exploit it in every means possible.
@@video83046 Her comment is strickly about what she heard in this video, which is, indeed, a lot of "word salad". Even Spidey - an actual professionnal - was confused at some points. I'm not here to hate on Will Smith some more, not at all. But famouse people - ESPECIALLY JADA AND WILL SMITH - do have this awful tendency to say stuff that seem deep, but if a nobody said or wrote the exact same thing they would be laughed at. And rightfully so.
Spideeeeyyyyyyyyyyy!! You didn’t talk about that weird synchronized “ Mr smith” moment…..and when he does that uncomfortable look at me looking at you thing, I saw that as Greg Hartleys famous “chaf and redirect” ❤ you
A wild guess about the scrunched nose on feeling safe, is to grab context clues in the next sentence- that he is known around the world. A assumption is the scrunch is truly disgust that he HAS to be well-known to feel safe.
I respect that the interviewer did his research. The fact that Will looks genuinely surprised, it shows most interviewers don’t or keep it superficial.
Except they were never confirmed to be Scientologists. In fact, there's been more confirmation that he's never been one by people who were actually involved in Scientology.
U do an excellent job of thoroughly explaining & then perfectly demonstrating, the verbal & non-verbal cues of many different communications. Being able to clearly convey complex ideas to those who likely have very little to zero knowledge of reason verbal/physical cues is such a fabulous talent. Being able to share your education, training, experience, etc in this way makes me wonder if you also have teaching (in person) in your background? Also, going to look @ all your posted work to see if you have ever analyzed the speeches of Presidents, and other Government Leaders. This non verbal info would be so valuable to both the higher ups and average citizens. Most humans often need help to read between the lines. Just IMO, u would be such a huge asset to your own country’s government. Perhaps @ one or all of the 3 letter entities, if u are a US citizen. Wherever your from, bet u would make a significant difference. Big $ too. I’m fascinated, will look through your channel and maybe Google too to learn more. Appreciate you

Great video! I agree with everything you said. And I really appreciate how you consider the different “goggles” people might be wearing and their viewpoints or conclusions they might make. Very neutral and everything was so well articulated and well thought out. Big props to you!
Wow, that was some few minutes of distancing language, from one sentence to the next. I agree with you, I couldn't work out if he was talking about his relationship or the slap 🤷♀️
Smith seems to be putting an effort to be honest, trying to really think before he speaks...it must be difficult for him to be this truthful. Proud of him for the effort. Good to see the therapy us working!
I"m so glad that you mention the confusion you had when Will was responding to his personal life because I tjhought that I missed something. I's like he felt he had to say something but didn't know what to say so he came out with that jumbled jargon. It was great hearing your thoughts on it.
The “makes me feel safe” moment reminds me of times when people say “does that make sense?” But it’s like that added facial expression is an emphasis on the statement or question.
Great video Spidey!! I have to say, I have also never really recovered from the "Slap heard 'round the World". I grew up watching Fresh Prince, listened to all his albums, watched and loved his movies, I even learned how to speak German when I was stationed in Germany by watching reruns of Fresh Prince on German TV and remembering what he said from the US version. But since the slap, and his nonaccountability (true sincere apology), I have not watched another TV show or Movie with Will Smith in it, nor I have I listened to any of his songs. For me it is sad since I have such fond memories of his humor, comedy, silliness, whatever you want to call it, but now, I just can't bring myself to support nor do I condone, such behavior. Thank you for your insight Spidey, love watching your videos.
I would love to see you break down some of the video game L.A. Noire. You play as an LAPD detective and It's all about figuring out if someone is lying or not. They put an emphasis on observing the suspect when questioning them. I'm curious to see what you would say about the body language displayed in the game.
I agree. Also, if he ever has or does think about leaving Jada and going through all of the process of a Hollywood divorce, when it's over how and who his he going to date? Like he said he's known the world over. I don't think he wants to be single but I don't think he thinks he can date and truly trust anyone. He would always question their motives.
@@karenscoville6307 he truly is a victim of narcissistic abuse. I think he came on the scene a genuine person and those just won’t make it among the wolves..
I am glad you did this video b/c I was wondering about his demeanor behind his answers. I do think that he’s trying to MAKE hisself be ok with his life and relationship being in the public eye. I know he said he meant for it to. But I think he just learned early on ‘this is your life now so become ok and accept it b/c you can’t do anything about it’. And I think he’s mixed with emotions in how he feels about the uncomfortableness of him being on display for so long.
I love your channel, Spidey. Of all the body language channels I have seen, this is the one that seems the most like a class. I also agree with your takes 99.9% of the time (and let's face it, I'm probably wrong about the other 0.1% 😂).
I absolutely agree with you... I can't bear to watch the other body language channels who constantly bash and point out bad observations by someone they are analyzing....and especially if it's someone that the public dislikes... Seen it with Prince Harry and others like him... it's like they analyzing for their audience and views and likes and not giving a fair analysis
@@Arti-iChi The least valuable channel, in my opinion, (and I won't name it because it isn't necessary) is one that could be VERY valuable if they would rework it. There are four experts who reference body language in the video they are reviewing, but they don't clip out the part they are talking about and show it to the audience. I'm mystified by that decision. Also, they show you the same clip over and over and over as the talk about different things in it. They really need to hire a good video editor or one of them needs to learn that skill. As it is, I find the channel unwatchable.
When he said, “I love being famous because it make me feel safe. It’s like someone knows who I am anywhere I go on earth.” We need to LISTEN. His self worth is tied to external validation.
Will Smith needs to understand if he wants back into mainstream Hollywood and entertainment he has to accept being constantly roasted rather than being defensive or emotional.
he's been accepting it for the last decade or so. And we've never seen him defensive or emotional for years. He's literally avoided addressing every rumor about him unless he was directly asked.
@@MisterFoxxWill Smith apologized to Chris Rock? Directly and in person? I haven't heard or seen anything like that. As far as I know, Will Smith has NOT made any attempt to apologize to Chris Rock. Just excuses.

“look at you while you’re looking at me” simplifies can you see/ imagine others as yourself. I agree that the face he did ( 24:07 ) was his face when being serious. I know that face from him and I am pretty sure he does the same thing in his movie roles when delivering a serious moment/ emotion
I think the artistry of being transparent. Of sharing your story ( Jada book)and hoping it will help someone. He is saying he got bit going down that road but he plans to get better at it in the future. It's cultural speaking.
he's shaking his head not to mean no, but to assert tiredness or a feeling of a resentment towards his extensive body of work after not being as recognized.
I see the "safe" scrunching as a sign that he had not really thought about it in that context before, and he was giving the question some serious introspective thought while holding onto curiosity.
Spidey, I think the interviewer influenced how smoothly the interview went. I thought that would happen with Tevor Noah, but that felt like deeping his toes under water.
The response to the question about Jada makes perfect sense to me. Up to this point Will Smith has rarely if ever discussed he and Jada's relationship outside of her being with him at the time. He, from what I have seen will never say anything that can be perceived as negative about their relationship and certainly not about Jada. I wouldn't expect his response, including being bitten, to have anything to do with Jada. Will, in my opinion, was talking about himself and the Oscars debacle and the bitten statement was a generalization. Will has, in the public eye, always given the impression that he wants his life to be open and teachable for others. Over the years of watching his interviews, at one point he sounded like a psychiatrist,( after reading his book I found out why) that was an annoying phase in my opinion. As far as the "feeling safe" eye crunch, I think the expression was the perfect example of "if that makes sense?" I do think his "look at me" exercise was an attempt at, as some say your mind is not you. Meaning, as you said Spidey, possibly referring to something spiritual. However, the "..look at you while you're looking at me" sounds like something some people used to say that means whatever you see in me, (usually the good because the one being looked to was well respected) to look at yourself that same way. From that perspective I would say he got a partial answer to the question from Will if, that was Will's intention. But mostly it appeared to me as if Will was just making it up as he went along trying to sound deep😆 The host was hilariously uncomfortable but I'm unsure that he didn't speak up out of respect. I say this because he pinned Will on whether he liked the theme song and his "diplomatic" answer. It's possible though, his level of being caught guard seemed extreme😆. Yes, this is long but I had time so....😊 Spidey, I enjoy your channel so much!
Honestly i think his facial expressions for feeling "safe" by being famous really comes down to the fact that he knows that Jada uses him for his fame. So as long as he is famous, he doesn't have to worry about her LEAVING him. He has trauma about getting divorced and wants to avoid it at all costs, to an extremely unhealthy degree.
It's weird how Will Smith seems to both laugh and PERFORM an act of laughter at the same time.
That is disassociation.
He's been watching Tom Cruise. He thinks that is a recipe for success. Maybe it is.
@orangewarm1 good point
Great observation

I’ve just paused after the ‘it makes me feel safe’ bit; what struck me is the way he looks across at the host on ‘safe’ & what I feel like is almost the tiniest hint of a smirk at the end. On an instinctive level it feels like an ‘isn’t this weird’ moment that he is sharing with the host.
Love this take. I can definitely see that

You said what my million word comment said, but so much more concisely. 😂😂😂
@@IronicleseAndSardoniclese haha love that!
He seems defeated :(
@@madzi3rdWhat I honestly, genuinely find so crazy about your comment is that Will Smith literally said these words( "ain't nobody doing better than me") at the end of long answer about his own very specific life ( 25:24 HIS wife Jada, what she said about HIM, HIS weird marriage and HIS situation.
I wouldn't be famous ever, and not anyone in Will Smith's family in particular. There is not enough money....

I love how Spidey is swinging his head left and right for “no” as he accurately and genuinely explains that doing so doesn’t mean deception. An example baked into the lesson!
I noticed this. I was like "just as you're doing right now" as he was explaining haha.
Yup. And he did the same thing when talking about the ticket prices for his upcoming show. It is what it is.
It’s not weird! It’s natural to want to look up to someone and be able to trust that they are essentially good people
i mean people change as they get older and more famous. all that attention eventually erodes away the goodness. so you can still have fond memories of who he was. and who he will be when hes a old man away from the fame for a for years.
Deservedly so. We are not to judge, however we don't want young impressionable people to follow his lead.
I feel similarly. Reminds me that the images we construct of each other are very biased. I still think Will Smith is a people pleaser with usually good intentions. A decent dude with positive vibes. But he is also a reminder of the world we life in.
The slap ruined it
I find these interviews so interesting.
Would you consider doing OJ Simpson’s “hypothetical confession” interview?
Great suggestion!
Didn't he already do a video on this?
I’ve stumbled over the umbrella guy and he just makes money off hate.
I definitely feel compassion for Will. Sometimes we humans really get ourselves into big messes and have no idea what to do about it. As an imperfect person myself, I hope he gets the healing and direction he needs.
Such an elevated opinion.
I feel sorry that his life and all the work he has done are reduced to this single moment. If he never understands it for himself he can't move forward. If he never explains and takes accountability, he will never be allowed to move forward publicly.
@@35406I think that was the least of his moments, the public is going to have a much harder time with pdiddy and the abuse of JB.
How has everyone missed he is gay... 6 degrees of separation. The Diddy parties etc Jada is a beard.
So I know Will and he farts when he gets nervous
“Word Salad” is quickly becoming our nation’s secondary language. 😂
I really appreciate how you approach analysis. It is done respectfully, honestly and professionally. It's informative and entertaining at the same time.
Absolutely agree...it's a pleasure to watch when it's a fair reading of both good and bad and done respectfully

@@TheBehavioralArts yay! That would be awesome!
@TheBehavorialArts Can you do a video analysis of Jaguar Wright videos. That would be interesting with everything that’s been said
The ‘makes me feel safe’ face, struck me as Will Smith having not really had this thought before and simultaneously realising that it’s not a standard reaction many people would have.
Where we were all confused (word salad) and I’m sure the interviewer was also, a follow up question should have been asked.
I love this!
I think part of the reason he feels safe is because he’s a recognizable black man. He once said he got pulled over by police, and was feeling uneasy, black guy in a fancy car, but when the cop saw it was him he wasn’t scared anymore.
My thoughts precisely
So, the look of contempt was the paradox that as a black man, he can only feel safe if he's highly recognizable. Interesting!
That safety is being treated special, just like the story you told. No matter where he goes on Earth he will be treated special and given things and opportunities most people will never get.
He went full Wayne Brady before Wayne Brady
Exactly!! Hard to convey without the element of “racism” having to be drawn out into the light. When others will say “you’re wealthy, Black, living your best life, and you want to still say you’re oppressed, treated wrong, etc….” He is definitely in a “safe” space in America, and many other parts of the world having to wear “that” skin!
notice Will scratching his leg and the nervous laughter later when he responds to the Jada and public affairs question
That is when things got really weird. 😂. I feel sorry for him because what is the purpose of an interview if you are not going to be honest. Just let the interviewer know ahead of schedule topics that are off the table because it made him come across as deceitful and lacking confidence.
I love when Spidey illustrates the emotions he’s explaining to make us understand 😅
I think you are spot on. Good point!
Npd personality has a constant need for attention. It's baffling to me how everyone's so quick to throw this word at Jada but not Will....🧐
Spidey, this was one of your best and most nuanced analyses.
I agree. Great observation.
yes, I think this confused 'it makes me safe, people KNOW me' might mean 'somebody cares about me, I matter to somebody'.
I'm really appreciate your education Spidey.
I know in the past I've disagreed on some of your stuff with will smith, but I have really had to back up, stop and analyze myself.

linguistically, i can't decide if jada sounds like him or if he sounds like her. these two are SO enmeshed it's wild to listen to
I was thinking the same thing.. either Will is following Jada or the other way around.. Jada says “ok ok” a lot..
It’s unbelievable how when he answered the question about Jada, he sounded like her. That whole “artful with the gift” thing. Sounds exactly like something she would say.
@@TheBehavioralArts is this just, we start to behave like people we spend a lot of time with we mirror them.
Couples who have been together for a really long time often tend to share a lot of traits over time
He and Jada thought that being open and talking about their relationship ‘agreements’ and ‘issues’ would help others.
@@jamikatechaos9972He's actually not her son's age. Look up August Alsina then Jaden, as your reference. It was salacious for the media to call him "Jaden's friend" because that made it bigger. Will Smith has been having affairs with ppl the same age and younger than August.
Such a good show Spidey!!
We went to go see his show in Oakville and it was incredible - highly recommend it!

What a sweet sentiment ❤️
I agree he made a mistake and he's learning and human.
I agree. He kind of looks like a victim at times. sort of like he's trapped in this life with Jada, but in other times, he looks like a predator on a mission. I really feel bad for all of them for betraying God.
What?
Umm hasn’t he been named in the “Diddy” saga?
I want to personally thank you for teaching me so much in just a few videos. Its really tough nowadays to find genuine people like you. ❤
Edit to say that I so agree with the last part. No one is promised tomorrow
leaves a bad taste because she asked him in public how he liked the fact that she had someone else in her mouth.

@@TopHatNat same here he never stopped playing that character from 6 degrees... He has been hurting since a child.

Spidey, I agree with your assessment of Will scruntching his face when talking about fame making him feel safe...it's his look when he is serious.
I think it’s a confusion look.

Through all the ups and downs and changes in life, this is one of a very few TH-cam channels that continues to be relevant to me.🥰
And please, no matter what success you find in the future, stay loving and humble, man! They are your most endearing qualities. I believe that is the real reason that you have as many followers as you do!
I’m not a “like my comment” sort of person but if anyone reading this agrees, please do like it so it can be seen.
I only ask because I think there are many others that also want Spidey to “Keep on keepin’ on!” 🥰🥰🥰
No one is going to read your novel

A little word salad with your meal, Mr Smith? Hmm 🤔
😂
😂😂😂
You didn’t talk about that weird synchronized “ Mr smith” moment…..and when he does that uncomfortable look at me looking at you thing, I saw that as Greg Hartleys famous “chaf and redirect”
❤ you
Haha yeah chaff and redirect could he nicknames for Jada and will 🤣
@@TheBehavioralArts ps your fans in Calgary would love a show too! Summertime is a great time 😎
Would love if you would cover the Prince Andrew Emily Maitlis interview now that it is brought to light again through the Netflix film
Oooh ! I second this, yes
A wild guess about the scrunched nose on feeling safe, is to grab context clues in the next sentence- that he is known around the world. A assumption is the scrunch is truly disgust that he HAS to be well-known to feel safe.
I have never recovered from the slap. As a South African, we adored Will, but for me no thank you. He needs to take accountability, first.
I feel the same way - I lost all respect for him when he assaulted Chris Rock. I'll never watch another Will Smith movie again.
@@SpikeLover1863 lol thats seems a little dramatic
Sorry, Will Smith turns me off.
Did you not see him take accountability in his multiple apologizes? Why are y'all so eager to show off how unforgiven and non empathetic you are?
@@CrisHaasbro not "seems"... it is dramatic lol
I respect that the interviewer did his research. The fact that Will looks genuinely surprised, it shows most interviewers don’t or keep it superficial.
He still sound and look like a Scientologist. I can even imagine him and Tom Cruise sitting and talking Lord Xenu.
At least he finally dropped all his false pretenses at Christianity.
I absolutely love that more and more people are exposed to the real Scientology. I listen to Aaron Smith Levin ex Scientologist..
I kept thinking he reminded me of Tom Cruise brand of crazy. Trying so hard to convince himself he's enlightened and has a wonderful life.
Except they were never confirmed to be Scientologists. In fact, there's been more confirmation that he's never been one by people who were actually involved in Scientology.
😂😂
Appreciate you
❤ Loved this analysis.
And Spidey please continue to share future performances with the channel i would love to attend one of your shows if you're ever in my area.
There is something ive been wanting to say. Just didnt know how to say it. So im just going to say it. There is no doubt in my mind that Chase has great support system with you being among them. Stay strong. Hope this makes sense. Much love❤
@@karaynaR1132it makes a lot of sense. 😊 ❤️
Spidey, do you think you will ever get to do a performance in Texas?? Are any of your performances televised or streamed?? I would love to attend!!
I think is response was all specifically about it being public.
I love Speedy too. He seems so genuine in caring about Will.
Hey Spidey your videos are always what I look forward to every single week xx
The “makes me feel safe” moment reminds me of times when people say “does that make sense?” But it’s like that added facial expression is an emphasis on the statement or question.
It’s called word salad, Spidey 😂 Thanks for a great video!!
I think it’s sad that this man cannot express how he feels without people freaking out
LOL yes, Will Smith is such a victim 😂😂😂
I am glad you did this video b/c I was wondering about his demeanor behind his answers. I do think that he’s trying to MAKE hisself be ok with his life and relationship being in the public eye. I know he said he meant for it to. But I think he just learned early on ‘this is your life now so become ok and accept it b/c you can’t do anything about it’. And I think he’s mixed with emotions in how he feels about the uncomfortableness of him being on display for so long.
John Lennon said it best…
Life is what happens while you’re busy making other plans.
Great analysis Spidey!
It’s like someone knows who I am anywhere I go on earth.”
We need to LISTEN. His self worth is tied to external validation.
Will Smith needs to understand if he wants back into mainstream Hollywood and entertainment he has to accept being constantly roasted rather than being defensive or emotional.
@user_angelmum
If he did it for jada, she didn't appreciate it. He should have been quiet. He is a spoiled brat.
he's been accepting it for the last decade or so. And we've never seen him defensive or emotional for years. He's literally avoided addressing every rumor about him unless he was directly asked.
@user_angelmum So you saw the slap, but not his many apologies afterwards???
It’s always about letting go…exactly…accept let it hit you then LIFE will provide MORE for you as you keep on letting go
@@MisterFoxxWill Smith apologized to Chris Rock? Directly and in person? I haven't heard or seen anything like that. As far as I know, Will Smith has NOT made any attempt to apologize to Chris Rock. Just excuses.
I’ve noticed that he code-switches when he’s uncomfortable (to make a joke or make light of something) or when he’s initially trying to build rapport (to seem harmless or remind folks he wasn’t always rich and famous). When he’s in a philosophical mode he uses the kings English.
That wiggle head thing Will did was SOOOOOO Cosby!
“look at you while you’re looking at me” simplifies can you
see/ imagine others as yourself. We are all made in the same image.
we teach this as prevention and management of disruptive behavior training to put ourselves in the shoes of somebody who may be in a panic state so that we can see what they see and understand how to deal with that.
I agree that the face he did ( 24:07 ) was his face when being serious. I know that face from him and I am pretty sure he does the same thing in his movie roles when delivering a serious moment/ emotion
Yes he does. Absolutely. In pursuit of happiness he does it a lot even when he’s not angry.

I love the analyst you do!
Analysis. He IS the analyst. 😊
@@marejojohnson4902 you know what I meant
I think the artistry of being transparent. Of sharing your story ( Jada book)and hoping it will help someone. He is saying he got bit going down that road but he plans to get better at it in the future. It's cultural speaking.
Great video. Wish I was closer to see you live. 🎉

Great breakdown Spidey 💯👍
he's shaking his head not to mean no, but to assert tiredness or a feeling of a resentment towards his extensive body of work after not being as recognized.
Interesting choice of jacket 🌈
Look at the host in his pink track suit!
What? A man can't wear colors?
@@simmiedavissimmiesings8185 not pastel pink. 🌈
As far as the "feeling safe" eye crunch, I think the expression was the perfect example of "if that makes sense?"
I do think his "look at me" exercise was an attempt at, as some say your mind is not you. But mostly it appeared to me as if Will was just making it up as he went along trying to sound deep😆
The host was hilariously uncomfortable but I'm unsure that he didn't speak up out of respect. I say this because he pinned Will on whether he liked the theme song and his "diplomatic" answer. It's possible though, his level of being caught guard seemed extreme😆.
Yes, this is long but I had time so....😊
Spidey, I enjoy your channel so much!
😂😂😂 your “ok what!?” makes me laugh every time! And yea this whole answer is the side of Will Smith I can’t take 😑
Same. It was going pretty good for me up until that point
It came off pretentious.
@@tiffanymichaels2429 I think when he talks about his marriage it comes off as pretentious, like Will stop!
Dang.. that seems like a somewhat judgemental analysis of a facial expression, lol..but you could be dead-on correct in your assumptions.
John Lennon said....life is what happens when you're busy making other plans.
