Brand New! Santa Clara VTA 2023 Gillig Low Floor Plus HEV 40'

Here is one of VTA's newest buses on the road! This was my first time on these units given that my last 3 attempts to ride these completely failed as none of the units would come out, lmao. Thankfully, I was able to ride it during my 4th attempt. This is one of the 2023 Gillig Low Floor Plus buses being built to retire the remaining old diesel buses in the fleet. These may look very similar to the 7400 built in 2017, but there are many notable differences including stop request buttons, USB outlets, and wider headsigns (except for 7423). However, the biggest difference is that they feature Allison eGen-Flex, a relatively new model featured by Allison that would allow for engine shut off while the bus is still in operation. So far, the quality is great and the eGen Flex sounds like an improved version of the H40EP the 0100s. As the fleet is growing quickly, now would be a really great time to fan the 2001 and 2002 Gilligs as they can be gone before you know it!
