A thorough, honest and passionate review. I love it. EDIT: Thanks Sandman, you just saved me $60. I'm getting a Bessey. I'll get the Panavise when I'm ready.
I just threaded a bolt in that Super clamp and tighten it down with my vise and it s perfect for all those round cylinders.... great ideas here Sandman !
Great review of all these vices. I had always wondered if vices were comfortable to pick in and if they were practical when it came to holding the locks. Thanks for answering those questions, cheers
Great info! I use the harbor freight special at home and a cheap $17 clamp vise for my office desk at work. Don't listen to the haters. I can't stand the "you are doing it wrong" people. An open is an open! A while back my neighbor was locked out. I grabbed my tools and went over, checked out the lock and promptly crawled through the window next to the door. Point is I got him back in his house, doesn't matter how. Could I have picked his lock, yes, probably, but an open is an open! I recommended your channel on a lockpick group on facebook the other day along with bosnianbill and locknoob! You stack up brother, keep up the good work!
That was plenty creepy!!! Really great video. Thanks for sharing the info. I have the first vise and It serves me very well. I want to get the other ones also. Keep up the great work.
😂😅😂 you do make me laugh, love the humour mate. Great review, love your reviews. I have picked the master 19 and agree 100% with what you say about holding it in your hand, man that one heavy beast of a lock. I have a similar vacuum base vise with triangular base, which has also lost its suction, but I've come to the conclusion that if your vice is moving you're being to heavy 😂. Keep up the good work buddy, and as Bill used to say...dont feed the trolls 🤜🤛
I have a vise very similar to the first you showed that I have for years used for making jewelry which will soon see locksport duty. In today's mail were the things I recently ordered from CI thanks, inter alia, to your "not a review" of the echelon set. Still unpacking to see what's what and figure out how to use the various things. I know that's not news you need or care to hear (or read) but I know the count of comments counts when it comes to TH-cam's algorithm... so there you go.
LOL I just bought a few Panavise parts to make a custom lock vise off Amazon then I saw this vid. Glad to know I have a little vision for a noob. Great Vid
I was actually looking into vises, this video came at perfect time. I'm probably going Bessey for now, I'm in the trades and Bessey has great clamps, so guessing that vise will be good for me.
I just grabbed the Harbor Freight the other day ( Black Friday special-$15!!), and amazed how much more feedback I can feel! I also found myself wondering if it could be used with that Small rig...have you tried swapping that in, as a cheap up-grade?
If I can add a word of advice (add-vise, hah) for total newbs, (I'm no veteran myself) I'd say don't make my mistake which was to buy a little Panavise 209 first; I had figured that since locks are small and don't usually weigh much* , a large heavy vice was overkill. Oops. You need the mass. Well, aside from the suction on the 209 not sticking well to many surfaces (I fixed that with an acrylic disk to act as a base)and it being very light, it led to a lot of give, bending, and sliding around. Pretty hard to work with. It's pretty much the same mistake gun newbs make when they want a small little gun not realizing that less mass makes recoil so much worse. So don't do that and try to save money or space, small, light vises aren't good choices for this hobby. I have a Panavise 350 now, I should've bought it from the start and not wasted money. Oh, I also have the Small Rig clamp, thanks to Fish Picks' video. And oddly, I still prefer to pick in hand for now (and the Small Rig helps!). Weird, I know. *that Master Lock 19 is insane!!! I want one.
The panavice is tits!!! I tried a few cheaper vices you can get from Lowe’s or Home Depot and they sucked for locksport finally I broke down and picked up the Panavise and I’ll never look back lol.
Great review- thanks! Curious how the rubber bumpers affect the Besse's 2.75" jaw opening - that is, will it still hold the CI Locksport Trainer which requires a minimum 2.6" opening?? Thx
just checked, teh locksport trainer only fits without the rubber bumpers. but i would never use it in that, i would use the panavise 350, due to the locksport trainer's size. you would benefit from a larger base.
lol you said I’m not rich I’m irresponsible my wife heard me watching the video and said sounds like my husband lol but yeah the 350 is a must as far as I’m concerned I love mine
Catch phrase something like, "stay legal, and sleep tight." last part being in reference to your name as the Sandman. or "stay legal, and sweet dreams."
I think im the most interested in the kind of lock picking for doors? Do you think just regular practice on any lock helps? Also love the video! I will definitely be purchasing at least one of these not sure yet but will probably troll comments for more opinions lol.
Thanks to this video, I just impulse bought a Panavise 350 with tray base on ebay. It was a great deal! Wait... Now that I look closer , it looks just like this one and it's shipping from Texas. Did I just buy your Panavise?
I got into this hobby because of you… but I somewhat see the vice-realism dilemma differently - I appreciate the ability to use a vice, BUTTT I value the act of purposefully making myself uncomfortable and wrenching my body into odd-positions to pick locks - (totally not the arms/locker/supply rooms at work).
The vice is just a dojo. Don’t take it too seriously. you will never achieve what you wanna achieve if you’re always uncomfortable. Even sharpshooters got to go to a range.
@@sandman_locksport I honestly love that philosophy. Learning more and more by watching your videos. I’ve got about 40 left till I’ve seen em all. Thanks Sandman!
@@sandman_locksport Idk why I saw it like this originally, but it somewhat reminded me of the grunt who only has schools and garrison accommodations, but has never seen or experienced real hardship - and how they’re the one who create policies/doctrine - whereas the people with experience and deployments go unnoticed and mistreated.
@@moose2934 picking locks in the field, in the rain, in the heat, taking a knee, on a set of metal grate stairs, it is definitely difficult and uncomfortable. But try picking in front of 20 people sitting in a circle around you, at a bar, staring a hole into you, for two hours with 100 locks in front of you. It’s a completely different sensation. When people expect you to be fantastical and perfect, nothing compares to the pressure.
@@moose2934 there’s no need to watch any of my videos. Just send me a private message and I’ll answer your questions. I make videos because it’s cathartic. I’m not really coming to any particular solution in any of them. I just make them because they’re fun.
Oh lord yes. I've run in to the hypertestosterone dudes telling you they don't need special tools and anyone who does is a wus. I know it's not an exaggeration, those guys are intense.

12:50 "im not rich folks, im irresponsible." Well if that doesnt sum up my life lol
I'm from Europe and I bought the panavise ( #2 in review ) for ~250 eur with shipping couple of months ago. It's a great vise.
Yes it is more than twice the price here in Europe..
My next purchase. Been needing one of these 4 a minute! Cool vid!
I have a Panavise 334 but considering the smaller clamp for KIK. Thanks for the GREAT video,
What are the odds, I started looking into vices yesterday before going to sleep. Haven't watch the video yet, but thank you in advance.
dont watch it! it's terrible! dont do it!

I want to get a 350! Thanks for the good info!
I like my 44delta 3d printed $20 base, can use any clamp from amazon with 1/4" thread.
I was actually looking into vises, this video came at perfect time. I'm probably going Bessey for now, I'm in the trades and Bessey has great clamps, so guessing that vise will be good for me.
Thanks. just ordered the panavice for $89 and ordered the parts for the super clamp at amazon

Very true
"There arrrre people in this worlddddd". Hey, why pick on me? lol Still want a door lock and hasp board.

tough to choose between those 2 bases.
Do like Sandman, buy them all 🙂
