I don’t have a RDS but I do have an ACOG with red fiber optic. It glows quite well. I’ve seen the green ones and they almost look too bright. Like the brightness may make it hard to see targets out at range.
However, I am new to optics - I’ve always ran iron sights - and this ACOG is the first one I’ve worked on getting comfy with.
So don’t let what I say determine what you choose.
O feel like the green fiber optics for iron sights is the go to and red for long gun optics is the go to.
Again, look around and do some research and don’t base your choices off what I’ve said.

Optics are like guns in that it is always better to use several different ones before you decide what works best for you. All my experience with reflex sights so far has been with red dots but I liked the way the green looked. It could be at a lower intensity and it was still very easy to pick up.

The thing is, I’m not spending the money on several different ones. I’m not going to cheap out on my sight.
So that is just financially not gonna happen. A good holographic can go for 300 and that’s “low end”.
I will get the one that appeals to me the most (either ACOG or holographic) and get good with it. Those two have always stuck out to me. Then after a while if I’ve saved up a little I may go get another one.
Not like most people can just go buy 5 sights and pick the one they want.
If anything, check them out at gun stores. Ask them to let you look through them. Get a decent feel then make a choice.

@@JP_Patriot I was not advocating buying several. I meant try them out at gun stores, get friends who have different ones to let you look through theirs, and any other free way to check them out. Good optics are definitely too expensive to keep buying till you find one you like.
