- This house is full of big G-scale model trains, running through just about every room of the house. It's a dream come true for any model train fanatic!
If you like big model trains from manufacturers such as LGB, Bachmann, Piko, and MTH Trains, you'll probably get a kick out of seeing these locomotives running on a big layout all over my house.
Some people say that this is a good ASMR video to help you relax and enjoy a train ride as you watch it.
Caution: do not get your heart set on owning a model train set like this one. It's not actually a set... it's a collection of individual model train pieces that have been collected over many years, at a cost in excess of $15,000. Most were purchased from www.trainworld.com
Model trains featured in the video are:
The Santa Fe Super Chief
A BNSF freight train
The Coca Cola Train
An Amtrak passenger train
And more.

🤣🤣🤣
My dad would have loved this video. By trade, he was a railroad engineer and loved model trains. Heck, I loved it too!!!!
You should make a layout in your front yard and backyard and have a gathering of people to see the trains this summer. It would be really cool
Great idea but if there left unoccupied they might get stolen
I actually did that once. Take a look at this video: th-cam.com/video/ghJrQJNJM0A/w-d-xo.html
The main problem with the front yard layouts is the slope of the driveway. It's tricky for the trains to climb up that slope. Also, I really wouldn't want to leave expensive G scale track out in the front yard all night... so, it means I have to rush and make the video in one day. I prefer to take it a little slower than that... so, the backyard layouts and indoor layouts are easier.
The way you own all these model trains is absolutely amazing!
Your wife is a Saint for putting up with that!!!
You've delighted my two year old son yet again, can't thank you enough. Drop me a note if you ever travel Germany, Spain or Portugal, I'll give you some free off the beaten path places to see as a thank you. All the best.
Everytime I see one of your videos I always smile, you are one of the reasons I got into model trains
That's really nice of you to say. Thanks!
Awesome Layout Jim! Love seeing the Trains run through the house! It's what brought me to your channel years ago. ❤🚂
I love watching your train videos. With all of the turmoil in the world, the trains are just relaxing! Thank you.
Really nice to see that your still continuing your model train videos for as long as you can (i got drawn to your channel from those model train videos) cuz not only am i a real train fan, but a model train fan as well
Jim Zim living his best retired life! 👌🏻 Good for you sir!
The hobo union approves of this video, and will be hopping trains at a layout near you.....❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊😊
Hey Jim, my son loves your train videos. He's always excited to see whats happening next. My son jumped inpatient up and down in front of the screen when he saw your Thomas video where he starts at the very last. He is now 2,5 years old and is so much into trains. Thank you so much.
Greetings from germany.
Awesome 🚅🚃🚃
This video reminds me of a funny Joe McDoakes 8 minute short from 1955 called "So You Want A Model Railroad".
It's about a guy who gets obsessed with model trains, fills his house with trains, and his wife's frustrations dealing with it all.
There are two versions, a very fuzzy black and white version and a less fuzzy colorized version.
Qué impresionante ‼ Me encanta ❤. Me gustaría tenerlo en mi casa.
Great video!
You inspire me to do this at my house too. 🤭 I love your train videos JimZim!! 🤗
Wonderful train video! Thanks!
Awesome video, pal!!!!!!!!
Model trains, the best way to spend indoors when it is really cold
Always fun Jim!
This model train videos are awesome! Keep up the good work!
This is really amazing and a dream come true!
AWESOME!!!
I'm not a model train guy, but I enjoyed the tour of your house!
Great video I enjoyed this
Wow that’s a lot of track. Awesome!
keep doing it JIM.. thanks to the wife for being a good sport about it.. my wife is okay when i put my slot cars on the dining room table.. weekends only lol
🙂👍 I love your G scale layout. 🙂 I have watched your previous videos where you have been showing Thomas, James, Percy, Toby, Emily, Diesel and Paxton in G scale. 🙂 I, have got my own Bachmann Thomas, in G scale too.
Nice angle after the go pro accident. Very interesting ❤ loved watching and I’m not even a train fan ✔️
Great video Brother
Really awesome, excellent video
Love the train videos. Keep them coming! God bless!
Love this video 😅🎉
I love these! =)
Hire back the neighborhood kids for setting up track and keep the trains running Jim!
Super.....
Hey there Zim, we miss you at the plant! As I was watching after the camera strike, I found my head tilting with the camera’s angle. Great vid, it looks like retirement is going well.
Thanks!
Thank you very much for that! I appreciate it.
Hey Jim. Cool vid idea. Lionel have a Santa Fe super chief ready to play set. You should make a vid on it. It would be very cool.
I'll have to check that out!
Nice
You should get the Cow catcher G scale model train set. That’s the first ever G scale set I’ve gotten
I wish to see a G scale train Video of a G scale CSX Dash-9 locomotive in one of you're train Videos
I don't own one, and I feel like I have enough locomotives in my collection for now... so I don't think you'll be seeing that anytime soon. Sorry!
I’m suppressed you don’t have a overhead layout in your house I would have thought that would have been the first thing you would have done in a new house 🏡 😊lol I. Would have 😊
I have been a G scale enthusiast for a number of years now. I happen to live in Kennewick and would love to see one of your layouts in person sometime if you are willing to do so. Thanks, Gordon D Kirkland
The layouts exist for only long enough to build them, shoot a video about them, and then put everything away again... so the process doesn't really lend itself to visitors. Plus, I'm experiencing some pain from a herniated disc in my back... so, I probably won't be doing many layouts in 2024 since it has become painful to get down on the ground to set up tracks.
I know how you feel. I am 68, have diabetes and neuropathy in my legs, hard for me to get down too!@@JimZim
You should run double headers in a video
I want your model trains I'm going to break into the TV screen and snatch a few of them from you. By the way I came across a bag of G scale brass tracks (16 pieces) at the thrift store for $24. I didn't realize how thick and heavy are the brass rails are.
Accidents happen, so don't be too hard on yourself. The trouble with G Scale engines is the body width. On some G Scale engines, the body shell is so wide, a Go Pro camera fixed to one side could be knocked off. Don't give up playing trains, it's a hobby we all love. As for the snowstorm outside....
"Silly soft stuff!" puffed Thomas. "I didn't need that stupid old thing yesterday, and I shan't today. Snow can't stop me." He rushed into a tunnel, thinking how clever he was, but there was trouble ahead. (Excerpt from Season 1 Thomas story, Thomas, Terence & the Snow.)
Mr. Zim I Love your trains!
Especially the Super Chief!!
I’ve not attempted to route trains through my wife’s quilting room yet ;)
If you’re bored and have a sec I just posted a train video on my channel. Not as cool as your stuff but fun nonetheless.
Cheers :)
Interesting fog effect! I don't think I've ever seen any model railroaders do that before. Did mother nature make the fog, or did you create the fog yourself somehow?
Used one of my Halloween fog machines with a dry-ice chiller to get it think and keep it right on the ground. Then rigged up a black back drop in a large oval shape to create a bowl to trap the fog in. Then made two tunnels at each end to allow the trains to pass through the “movie set” lol
You should put that in the description of the video. I think people will be curious about that when they watch.
Pretty cool bet that took a while to set up
Please give us some technical info on your DCC setup. I want to have my garden train run via DCC.
When i was young. I didn't have trains so i had to playby myself
I hope the bnsf freight train long line of cars on the main line
This the most gangsta video yet 🔫🔫
Oh yeah, everybody that knows this senior citizen knows he's got gangsta running through his veins!
what sound system do you use for your diesels
I think I need to upgraded from N scale to G scale.
As a fellow train modeler I have to ask - are these battery powered? I see no feeders to the tracks. Love the GoPro work and count downs.
I'm using track power. You can see the wires feeding some of the tracks at the 00:08 point of the video. In other words, 8 seconds in to the video.
But what about the big loops through the house? There'd be too much voltage drop to just run with one set of feeders. I only see feeders for those couple of short loops.
All the trains you see in this video get their power from the rails. No voltage drop. LGB-brand brass track is excellent. I have run MUCH longer runs than this, with just one set of feeder wires. Take a look at some of my backyard train videos, where I do a huge loop all around my backyard, all with track power fed in at just one point.
You're lucky. I've run 20 foot loops and needed 2 sets of feeders with LGB track. You're definitely getting voltage drop - you just don't know it or the engines you run don't care. Take it from an EE - the voltage drop is real.
Your convinced your wife? How? Tell us! Please! And yes, nice layout!
We also manufacture these kinds of trains in india.
What happened to that Lionel super chief you had as a kid
I really don't recall. It probably got tossed out after being abused pretty well by me and my brother.
@@JimZim and how long did you have it
@rogerlollar4325 Well, that was over 50 years ago... but I guess I probably started playing with it from about the age of 8, until I left for college at the age of 18... although in my teen years I did a lot more skirt chasing than model railroading.
I hoep you reach `10 million subs and vievs!!
😊
I have lots of G gauge trains at my house its similar to G scale but its not built in DCC and ALC my trains are built into LLC my trains are called Lionel trains and the trains are not operated by electricity mine are battery powered trains
wallace and gromit the wrong trousers anyone?
Maybe you should consider a pernamit layout if your tired of setting up the tracks, even though I know that goes against your kind of model railroad moral on this channel😂
JimZim is my neighbor across the street. Subscibe!
Does your wife leave the house when you film?
She has a very large (400 square feet) craft room and office, and it has its own bathroom as well as a door to the back yard. It is off limits to trains. When I'm shooting a video, she closes the door and stays in her own little world until I'm done.
@@JimZim That sounds like a good thing! (I would hate to think that your wife was banished from the house during your videos. LOL):
