    Thank you for this amazing video. I'm a Hong Konger live in Eastbourne. A walk in the morning along the seafront is wonderful. If you choose a low tide time on some day, you can walk on soft sand which is awesome too!

    Thank you for this video. I lived in Eastbourne 2007-2009. Beautiful memories. Walking home by the seafront late in the evening, winter time, lights on. Early morning summer breeze and scent of the sea, sun rising while looking for mussels. Princess park with swans and ducks. Beachy head with beautiful views and tiny lighthouse below. Feelings that stay in heart forever. Hope I can visit one day again.

    Thank you for that. It was lovely to see the seafront and the pier. I live in Pevensey and haven't been on the pier for years.

    All my childhood holidays were here.....there is a lot of sand when the tide goes out. When I was a child the beach was a good ten feet below the level of the prom; somewhere over the years; tons and tons of stones have built up the level of the beach. Happy memories of swimming; sand castles; friends; ripe peaches; hot sausage roll lunches or sausage and chips fetched from the town by my lovely Mother, and ice creams. In the late day it would be a walk to The Wish Tower green for ice cream sodas in tall glasses; or a game of crazy golf. Such happy times!! We used to stay in Polegate which was eight miles away. As a teenager the handsome deckchair attendants were good eye candy for me and my beach pals who lived locally!

    I live in Eastbourne and this was an interesting walk, but you need to go beyond the Bandstand for the best part. Towards Holywell is a nice wide promenade, lot of seats to enjoy the sea views and away from traffic noise with a lovely cafe at the end with outside seating.

    I can highly recommend The Langham Hotel on the seafront (east of the pier) if you want somewhere friendly to stay. Excellent food too. If you are a solo traveller, as for room 226 - a single room with excellent views.

    Perhaps you could do another walk of Eastbourne showing the loveliest part of the seafront. The route west of the pier and down to Holywell is delightful. The part you have selected does not show the town at its best.

    if you want to walk on sand
    try full low tide where you walked
    Langham Hotel up to the Bandstand
    Great with the grandkids and kids alike
    then further up to the rock pools
    As for the ,God's waiting room it's tongue in cheek

    Those 'pebbles' serve a purpose... if we had just sand, the hotels on the front would be under water by now. The pebbles are part of our sea defences and are maintained and replenished most years via a huge ship out in the channel.
    There is sand as others have said at the other end of the front where you didnt go. The chalk is eroding fast down there though losing an average of 7cm a year.

    im coming to Eastbourne in August and it does looks lovely . I was wondering what time of day is it best to park in the permit zones as one of the hotels im staying in gives you a permit ? in other words when do these spaces get full up lol

    • @ennileah
      @ennileah 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends on the hotel your staying at and also when in August as our Airshow takes place then over 4 days also. When Airbourne is on, a good chunk of the main promenades road and some roads running parallel to it are closed to traffic. Parking is one of the major issues we have here in town and the seafront sadly.

    • @ennileah
      @ennileah 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@caroll3309 Parking around Shore View isnt easy at all. I dont believe they have their own car park either. People fill up the residential roads at the side, and behind the hotel too, so parking for residents is easily just as difficult. I would need to check where Breakers is.. but all of the roads going from Holywell down to the Sovereign Leisure Centre are used during high season by tourists, much to residents frustration.
      EDIT: Breakers is a little further up that Shore View

    I was astounded and quite shocked when I heard that Meads and area is called gods waiting room. I thought I was quite old 65 but the residents are well over 70. I moved quickly as Eastbournexhas no life .a neighbor when I was in Darley Road until I found a place to buy told me he shuts his door at 6 and stays put. Was quite surprised him coming from Guildford. Eastbourne does not cater for the young only for old

      You must live in a different town to me! Eastbourne has transformed completely during my lifetime; I'm 36 now and it's unrecognisable from the 'God's waiting room' years of the 90s. Meads is full of retirees as they're the only ones with enough money to live there! 😄
