  • EASTBOURNE - A walk along Eastbourne seafront and Eastbourne Pier - Filmed in 4K HDR
Eastbourne is a holiday town and seaside resort in East Sussex, on the south coast of England, 19 miles (31 km) east of Brighton and 54 miles (87 km) south of London.
Eastbourne has a truly beautiful coastline. There are magnificent cliff-top walks to be enjoyed at Beachy Head, the highest chalk-sea cliff in the UK, where views of the candy-striped Beachy Head Lighthouse are postcard-perfect.
Eastbourne in East Sussex was voted Britain's number one holiday-friendly destination in a survey by Virgin Money Travel Insurance and there are many reasons why it is well worth a visit. Eastbourne is the perfect place to take a break from routine and to reconnect with friends, family and nature.
Eastbourne is a resort town on England’s southeast coast. On the seafront are Victorian hotels, the 19th-century Eastbourne Pier and a 1930s bandstand. Towner Art Gallery includes modern British works. Nearby, Redoubt Fortress, built during the Napoleonic Wars, has a military museum. Southwest along the coast, in South Downs National Park, are the tall chalk cliffs of Beachy Head and its striped 1902 lighthouse.
Eastbourne is home to the Europe's largest man-made marina, Sovereign Harbour, which has a variety of restaurants, shops and attractions.
Nearby Brighton has a “younger” feel than Eastbourne and is rather more lively, with plenty to do. Parking is expensive. If you want a couple of really quiet days in a genteel, English seaside location, book into one of the posher hotels on Eastbourne seafront.
Eastbourne is the most popular Sussex town for Londoners to relocate in 2020. Eastbourne has been named the most popular Sussex place for Londoners to relocate to in 2020. A new study from estate agents Hamptons showed that an estimated 73,950 homes were bought outside the capital by Londoners looking to move away.
There are plenty of family things to do Eastbourne, so you won't have worries about keeping the kids occupied and entertained during your holiday. Located on England's southeast coast, this lively town has plenty of pristine beaches, parks and gardens, along with sports facilities and playgrounds.
One of the finest examples of a Victorian pier, Eastbourne's stunning seafront landmark is fully open for business with a brand new walkway since the fire of 2014.
Eastbourne Pier has a variety of shops, a chippy, Waterfront cafe/bar, Atlantis nightclub, Victorian Tea Rooms, Coffee Republic, fishing and fantastic views of the English Channel.
Eastbourne Pier opened in 1872 and is a sought after film and TV location used in Angus Thongs & Perfect Snogging, and TV series including Poirot, A Place in the Sun, Art Attack, Flog It, and BBC CCTV.

Thank you for this video. I lived in Eastbourne 2007-2009. Beautiful memories. Walking home by the seafront late in the evening, winter time, lights on. Early morning summer breeze and scent of the sea, sun rising while looking for mussels. Princess park with swans and ducks. Beachy head with beautiful views and tiny lighthouse below. Feelings that stay in heart forever. Hope I can visit one day again.

Thank you for this amazing video. I'm a Hong Konger live in Eastbourne. A walk in the morning along the seafront is wonderful. If you choose a low tide time on some day, you can walk on soft sand which is awesome too!

All my childhood holidays were here.....there is a lot of sand when the tide goes out. When I was a child the beach was a good ten feet below the level of the prom; somewhere over the years; tons and tons of stones have built up the level of the beach. Happy memories of swimming; sand castles; friends; ripe peaches; hot sausage roll lunches or sausage and chips fetched from the town by my lovely Mother, and ice creams. In the late day it would be a walk to The Wish Tower green for ice cream sodas in tall glasses; or a game of crazy golf. Such happy times!! We used to stay in Polegate which was eight miles away. As a teenager the handsome deckchair attendants were good eye candy for me and my beach pals who lived locally!

I live in Eastbourne and this was an interesting walk, but you need to go beyond the Bandstand for the best part. Towards Holywell is a nice wide promenade, lot of seats to enjoy the sea views and away from traffic noise with a lovely cafe at the end with outside seating.

I can highly recommend The Langham Hotel on the seafront (east of the pier) if you want somewhere friendly to stay. Excellent food too. If you are a solo traveller, as for room 226 - a single room with excellent views.

Perhaps you could do another walk of Eastbourne showing the loveliest part of the seafront. The route west of the pier and down to Holywell is delightful. The part you have selected does not show the town at its best.

Those 'pebbles' serve a purpose... if we had just sand, the hotels on the front would be under water by now. The pebbles are part of our sea defences and are maintained and replenished most years via a huge ship out in the channel.
There is sand as others have said at the other end of the front where you didnt go. The chalk is eroding fast down there though losing an average of 7cm a year.

    • @ennileah
      @ennileah 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Depends on the hotel your staying at and also when in August as our Airshow takes place then over 4 days also. When Airbourne is on, a good chunk of the main promenades road and some roads running parallel to it are closed to traffic. Parking is one of the major issues we have here in town and the seafront sadly.

@@caroll3309 Parking around Shore View isnt easy at all. I dont believe they have their own car park either. People fill up the residential roads at the side, and behind the hotel too, so parking for residents is easily just as difficult. I would need to check where Breakers is.. but all of the roads going from Holywell down to the Sovereign Leisure Centre are used during high season by tourists, much to residents frustration.

I moved quickly as Eastbournexhas no life .a neighbor when I was in Darley Road until I found a place to buy told me he shuts his door at 6 and stays put.
