OH YES, I am so ready for you to become obsessed with The Empires of Dust!! Spark's writing is impeccable. Also, I will join you for The Cruel Gods and maybe possibly The Black Hinds Wake and Songs of Chaos if the mood strikes. Happy reading 🥰
haha I fear you got Kushiel's Dart mixed up with something else :DD It's very political and felt almost historical in setting, no demons anywhere. It's going to be interesting hearing what you think about it 🙃And I really liked the writing, maybe you will too :D
I know modern editions call Kushiel's Dart a romantasy right on the cover, but it's still so funny to me to think of it as one (it's not). Just reread it this summer, but would be very much up for a buddy read next year too. Already said I'd do Cruel Gods on discord, and Earthsea has been on my list for so long, buddy reading it might finally get me to start it :D
It is! I finally got around to making an updated version! Thank you for noticing 😅😅😅 Heck yeah to Cruel Gods! I’m thinking maybe a Feb or March start for one a month?
Not you picky another chunky complex series in the Book of the New Sun lolol. Better finish Malazan first sir. I have also heard great things about the Cruel Gods I still need to get to it as well. I still need to read the third book Defiant thank you for the reminder lololol oooh yay Earthsea!!! Would I like the Realm of Light and Shadow? I don't know that I have heard much about that series.
Want to buddy read Cruel Gods sometime next year? I would suggest trying a standalone by Janny Wurts before making that decision. Her writing is dense but fantastic IMO. Where Erikson uses 1000 words to get to his point Wurts uses 100 but it hits hard in my experience. To Ride Hells Chasm is excellent, she also has a sci fantasy trilogy called The Cycle of Fire. Or a trilogy with Raymond E. Fiest 😅 … I’m a fan.
@ let’s do it! Ok I’ll try to squeeze in one of her standalones before the midyear point when you want to start wars of light and shadow to decide how in I am 🤣
OK, soooo many books on your list I want to read!! If you get to book 2 of Cruel Gods, let me know cos i own it and havent read it yet. I also own The Skin.... so... yeah.. buddy....Also want to read Kushiel's Dart, and The Parable of the Sower... so many books, so little time...
Haha I’m sure we can make at least one of these work as a buddy read next year!!! Cruel Gods is currently planned March - May if you wanted to come along for book two in April 😊

It’s very pretty … and very heavy 😅

I’m very interested to give it a go! I love political fantasy so I’m excited now!!! Thank you 😊
@@AFictionalEscapist yay! Have fun ☺️
I loved Phedres trilogy. Very political, very moving and very intricate plot threads weaved together, very interested to see what you think.
Hearing it’s political has hyped me so much! Looking forward to it!
I just got the first 3 Wars of Light and Shadows books and was going to start it next year as well. Definitely interested in buddy reading it.
Heck yeah! Let’s do it! I’ll make an official video when it’s go time but I’m thinking June/July for Curse of the Mistwraith!
