Thanks for the heads up on all these great books. Every now and then in these times 'age gap' and 'wholesome' still show up in the same sentence. I'm so grateful for that 😊
I absolutely love those flex’s on saying you know the authors! Ha ha you are a true Leo.But I’m here for it you alone got me into them,Abercrombie and Pierce Brown.Red God and Devils by far my most anticipated books also you can’t forget new Dresden Files Book “Twelve Months”Jim Butcher Website said he is86% done with it,so hopefully 2025🙏🏻🙏🏻
Absolutely loved Will of the Many. Super excited for Strength of the Few - hope it does actually drop next year. Cahill is a machine. Pumped for the next installment in the excellent (and getting better with each release in my opinion) The Bound and the Broken series.
As another big Stephen King fan who rage quit after Dark Tower 7, I plan to reread the series this year and its peripheral books. I also need to reread IT, which I read when I was 12 (I'm 42 now) and I'm thinking I'll get a lot more out of it. Looking forward to your review of The Devils and Wind and Truth.
I’m anxiously waiting for Red God, The Devils, and I’ll read the strength of the few. I also plan on continuing/rereaing the solar cycle series by Gene Wolfe (have only read book of the new sun) and hopefully finishing the rest of the Malazan books this year. On Bonehunters..
As if my TBR isn't already massive enough! --So glad you enjoyed The Devils! I still need to get into the First Law. And the Sun Eater series. And the Bound and the Broken. Those series sound absolutely amazing. --Lightfall: Yep, I'm sold. *Tosses on the Mt TBR* --I've been having a good time with Silverblood Promise, so I'm looking forward to The Blackfire Blade as well. I adore that cover! Thanks for sharing!
I LOVE the Saga of the Forgotten Soldier series. It’s my favorite fantasy series that I’ve read in years. More people need to take the dive into Ashook Vidal’s world.
Stephen King - 'Never Flinch' being the exception. It is looking like my 2025 will likely be catching up rather than checking out new releases. This weeks Black Friday is reminding me I didn't read any of my pick ups from last year. Though still plan to do what has become a tradition for me of going out of town to hit Record Store Day and some used book stores.
I'm planning on reading The Will of the Many soon, so it's exciting to hear that the sequel might be coming out next year! I don't like the Red Rising series (in the middle of reading Golden Son), but I'm thinking that Will of the Many is going to appeal to me more.
I don't even know what new books are coming out next year. But this sounds like a good list to me. I'm excited about The Devils. I just finished Age of Madness a few months ago, so I'm ready for more Abercrombie.
There are so many sequels to series I need to start! I feel so behind, I have so many books to read 😅. I need to finish Jade Legacy and I’ve got the whole red rising trilogy, three body problem, and the dandelion dynasty waiting in line. Sun eater and the will of the many will just have to wait, maybe by the time I get to them the series will be complete and I can binge read it. For now… the TBR mountain will continue to grow 😂
Pumped for Of Empires and Dust and The Devils! When i get through Wheel of Time I'm thinking Sun Eater might be my next big series, sounds like it might be a good time to get into it
the premise for the new Richard Swan looks delightful. Time travel is one of my favorite tropes (the third rule is pretty much what you might think). Joe Hill finally has a new book coming out and R.F. Kuang has a new coming out in the summer dealing with the familiar people journeying to the Underworld to get somebody back. Ryan Cahill's book is supposed to be LONGER than WaR?!
I got lucky and managed to snag a proof copy of Witchcraft for Wayward Girls. I'm half way through it , I won't spoil anything but I will say it's shaping up to be my favourite of all his books !
I'm super excited for Never Flinch, but I totally get the Holly fatigue that a lot of people seem to have 😂 also Engines of War by R.S. Ford, Dance of Shadows by Gourav Mohanty and Katabasis by R F. Kuang!
Great List with a lot of authors I still need to start reading, so I'm not sure If I will come to any of those in 2025. But I'm also notoriously bad about sticking to the plan,so who knows what will happen. To be honest, I don't know too much about what will be published in 2025, but one book that is very high on my priority list is Robert Jackson Bennett with "A Drop of Corruption", part 2 in his Shadow of the Leviathan series. And if Anthony Ryan's 2nd part of the Age of Wrath series should be released in 2025, I'd probably stop reading whatever I am at the moment just to hurl myself on that one. From your list, Richard Swan seems to be the most probable, though I have family members that like him as well, so it kinda depends on when/if there's a translation released in 2025. Then Ruocchio because that's on my already planned TBR for 25, though it mostly depends if I have read up on it till then.
That premise for Lightfall sells me on checking it out too! ;P I am planning to pick up 'Boys in the Valley' sometime in the new year. The new one from the author sounds great! I hope you enjoy all of these Mike! :)
I didn't know Richard Swan had another series coming out! I'm so excited! I loved Empire of the Wolf. They were my top book of the year for each year so far. Have i been under a rock?! Also, the end of Suneater!! I'm not quite caught up on the series yet, but it is certainly top tier!
For 2025 one of my top 5 picks is Infrequent Frequencies Rare Resonance by G.E. Poole. Award-winning non-fiction, highly topical exploration of science, mysticism and consciousness. Mind-bending, unconventional lens on everything, practical guidance for negotiating through the coming times of turbulence, great filters, impacts of AI and hope for humanity.
Told Mr Ruocchio as aoon as book 7 is available for me in trade paperback, his series is cutting the line, so I'm very much looking forward to that. Hopefully its not just the hardcover release next year, but either way, the time draws closer.
Among my first reads of 2025 are The Wall of Storms (Ken Liu), Blood Over Bright Haven (M.L. Wang), The Fury of the Gods (John Gwynne), The Crimson Court (Brendan Noble), and Legacy of Ash (Matthew Ward). And I have some of your anticipated books in my list too.
Yo, Mike 🤙 I've been watching for a number of years now, but i generally just lurk. You're a sucker like me for coming of age. I'm reading Inverted World by Christopher Priest right now--1974 english sci-fi--and i'm pretty sure this would be hitting on all cylinders for you. It's fighting for top sci-fi book of the year for me right now. Also, it's only about 300 pages, so it isn't a huge investment.
Well I can’t go to bed now, I gotta see this. Mike btw if you like Babylon 5 and Invincible I’d recommend the Hybrid Helix books by JCM Berne. Superhero sci-fi in space, with the pacing and humour of Dresden files.
Mike, regarding Empire of the Vampire 3. I think we may get it for 2025! Jay's got the manuscript back from the editors and already teasing cover concepts. So it's in the works.
not having to wait for Licanius saved the trilogy for me - so good how it all came together. It also made me realize that I should probably wait until the Hierarchy series is mostly finished before I start it lol
Hey Mike, new follower here and I think you’d like Beyond The Lost Coast Series: By The Light of Dead Stars and Tides of Darkness by Andrew Van Wey. Coming of age cosmic horror and I really enjoyed them and he’s working on more for the series.
Do you know how many books are planned in the bound and broken series? I’ll buy them now but I don’t want to start reading until the series is complete.
I'm glad King like Holly and likes writing about her and she keeps his creative blood pumping. I think that's important for a guy who has given the world as many great characters as he has, but as for me I'm done reading about Holly.
Read Monster Hunter International by Larry Correia 10 or so years ago and loved it so im definitely going to have to check out Son of the black sword. Just finished my extended journey to the dark tower and i need to fill that gaping void.
I will be waiting on the review of Dungeon Crawler Carl! Even without the audiobook, I believe that you will have a good time with it. I am slowly reading the series in between others ..... for my pallet cleansers! Its works nicely to laugh about galactic alien corpoations using mutant monsters in order to try to kill Carl, Ex - Coast Guard, and Princess Donut, a cat with attitude. I want your opinion on the meth dealing llamas and the rest of the craziness!
Mike!!! Lord of BookTube. Please help me sir. I'm in a new book club with my best friends and I need 2 books to recommend. I'm a fairly new reader and one of my friends is a NEW reader. I would love to through some fantasy his way... but i don't know where to start.

Cyberpunk is one of the greatest games I have ever played. It's simply amazing! A certain actor(which I won't name) gives one hell of a great performance.
You’ve got plenty to read over the next year so I hesitate to make a recommendation. However, next time you’re looking for a hard-hitting horror read, **All the Fiends of Hell** by British author Adam Nevill is quite effective. I mean … it’s actually scary. And a blast to read.
I will definitely check out a book with a lava lamp on the cover. I think I will use next year to catch up on Brandon, Robert Jordan, John Gwyane, and Joe Abercrombie. And a lot more King.
I say this as a Grady Hendrix fan who wants you, and everyone, to read his books and be a fan too...I don't think you'll enjoy Witchcraft for wayward girls. I was lucky enough to get an ARC and I loved it. But it focuses mostly on the social commentary and with you being a man...well, let's say all the times I could relate to what was being said, you won't be able to. And I know with Southern Book Club you didn't love how the themes were too in your face at times and this is the same or even more. Which I love but...I just thought I would let you know. The book reminded me of the movie The Craft a lot. It's a lot more about the way the girls will get into magic to ran away from real life problems than about the witches themselves. Obviously, you read whatever you want 😂 but I thought I would let you know.
Devils is #1 for me, followed by Grave Empire and Blackfire Blade. I’m 75% through of War and Ruin right now and you’re telling me book 4 is even longer?!?!
Hi Mike, I’d love to hear you talk about Project Hail Mary. Curious whether you like the sciencier sci-fi and if you have other recommendations for Andy Weir fans. Upvote if you agree!

Hi Mike. Thanks for mentioning the forthcoming Richard Swan novel. This sounds like one that will work for me.
thank you so much for this compilation
Interesting. Definitely going to pick some of these up.
Hope you enjoy them!
I don’t read vampire books but after your review and Petriks I gave it a go. Amazing book!
The book I'm most excited about is Red God by Pierce Brown, the last one in the Red Rising series. Hopefully it releases in 2025!!

That would be my #1 if I knew it was coming out in 2025.

What about Outlaw Empire from The Band trilogy by Nicholas Eames?
When it has a release date I’ll count it.

It's not new. It's a re-release and I read it a couple years ago. Loved it.
