I always tell people to treat it like an egg too. That and “more Knees” solves most basic issues in landing Kendama tricks, before you get wacky with things anyway haha 😂
Thank you for the guide! :D I've been getting back into kendama after casually trying it out about 5-ish years ago when I had purchased a 3-pack of kendamas, and these 5 tricks were pretty nice to get down for someone returning to the hobby with a more serious mindset! I'm especially in love with Moshikame (and I admit that it took me a bit as I realized that I ought to be taking the "hold the Ken like a pencil" thing for Sara Grip more seriously to make the wrist-turning part feel more reasonable), and landing Airplane quicker than I thought it'd take to land made me feel like anything was possible! ^^ Baseball has...been tricky to do consistently and I wonder if I'm not tugging on the Ken enough to bring the Tama towards me as it finishes its swing, or if I'm forgetting to bend my knees for the catch after the swing, but I've landed it a couple times and I'm working on it! Appreciated the common mistakes being gone over as well, especially emphasizing bending your knees and steadying the Tama before each trick!
A lot of the balancing reminds me of hackey sack stalls when I use to be a professional at hackey until i could no longer use my right hip motion fully. This is fun and keeps me away from my phone! Everyone at work is getting into them, and I was curious watching my man flip that kendama fully and then land the ball on spike, flipped it again in a 360, caught the kendama and made the ball land on the opposite bottom cup. This dude at my work is insane! He says he does comps and stuff, so i might need to hang out and learn some tricks
Thank you! I just started playing today, got a beginner Kendama with a little stickier paint to help me learn. Once it is all beat up and i can do at least 10 different tricks at ease, i will upgrade to a more advanced slick style.
Dang bro. That was straight fire. Tryna check this thing Kendama out yaknow, you have given a beautiful presentation my good man. Hopefully one day I can rock out on one of these awesome looking hammers 😎😂✊🏿👏🏿🤘🏿🔥🔥🔥🎸🎸 hell yeah bro this is sick asf I gotta learn these ASAP ⚠️😂🔥🔥🔥
Damn this Video is sooo helpful. Just got my first kendama today and thanks to your Video im smashing the moshikame right now and got my first few Spikes. But I really understimated how exhausting a long kendama Session can be, that shit works your legs.
Hi! I just discovered Kendama on this new thing called the "internet", and started to being curious about it. Now, after watching your video about these basics, i'm even more interested. I'm into speedcubing, and, back in the day, i played yoyo. Now I think that i'm going to buy a Kendama to check it out by myself, thank you! :)
seems like your into the same stuff as me, so heres some ideas balisong tricks juggling pen spinning speed typing diablo you may already know them, just trying to help out :)
Number one question lol where can I get those pants lol love it. New kendama player here, but loving it so far. Already a avid skill toy enthusiast lol
Thanks for this. Got some really inconsistent Airplanes that I'm working on finessing. Also cool to see you put your pinky under the Dama on Dama Grip. I gotta try that.
What's the rule on pinkies with tama grip, is it straight mallgrabbing to use the pinky on the string where it enters the tama? I think I overthink this one I feel like tricks are kinda less difficult with that extra tension from the pinky, maybe not less difficult I don't know. So yeah, Whats the rule with pinkies in tama grip?
When I play in tama grip it depends on the trick. Stilt and axe require different tama grips. But with most tricks like lighthouse, airplane etc you just hold it in what’s comfortable for you!
I just saw this guy's bowling trick shot. It was one of the most amazing things I've ever seen.
I got a kendama 2 years ago and i must say i love it. Im god awful but these videos are dope!

i spin my kendama a little when doing the spike and that helped me
A spin helps to stabilize it.
Dude great video! This was super helpful and informative!

Super helpful video!!
Is traditional kendama and zero ones are different?
This is dope
As a child I struggle to play this and I struggle to do many tricks
How Long IS the string?
Does it matter how long my string is? Mine is way shorter than yours is
I GOT MY FIRST SPIKEE
no way ppl still play kendama in 2024,i just found my old one and i wanna start again

Help i think I practiced too much now the ball has dents and scrapes all over it
Thats good, just means it's getting worn in nice and buttery.
A broken in Tama and a fresh crisp Ken are the best combo!
i see what the japonesse were doing with the "airplane" one
Explain?
I thought baseball was you landed it at the bottom cup
Same
What the flip 1:17
The minute I saw what he was wearing I knew he’d be doing some extra shit…
Shout out to @orellryan for the girt Krom kendama, this is so dope
