    So, basically, Japanese protection of the Ainu under imperial law, was like native protection in the Americas under Spanish royal law. In theory they were to be well protected and respected, but that clearly wasn't always the case.
    Seems to happen with a lot of frontier territories during the process of conquering.

      @@greeninja2728arguing cultural superiority as a reason to not include a culture in a game is weird. Arguing cultural superiority is just weird on it’s OWN, arguing for a culture’s superiority off of how “interesting” it is, is weirder still, and using the interestingness of a culture as a reason to *not* include another culture is super weird. Culture is not inherently interesting, how it is presented in a game or any other medium is what can make it interesting to play/watch/read or participate in. It’s strange you wouldn’t know this, considering it should be possible to conclude this using solely logical reasoning.
      People in history have argued and believed in the superiority of certain cultures for many many years. Hundreds, thousands. And people have argued for certain cultures being more interesting, far far richer and more nuanced or civilized than other cultures. These things always come from ignorance and arrogance. You, who don’t actually know anything about Ainu culture, are insisting based purely off of intuition and bias that Ainu culture can’t ever compare to Japanese culture in how interesting it would be in a fictional video game about a sole warrior being capable of singlehandedly defeating tens of trained armed enemies. It’s kinda dumbfounding to read your comments to be completely honest ngl.

    • @greeninja2728
      @greeninja2728 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ well reality is some cultures are more interesting than others. It can be for different reasons but for example, inuit culture simply won’t be as interesting as persian culture or french culture or japanese culture due to the length of them or the far greater amount of stories. I’m sure the rest can be deduced
      Anyways, it’ll depend how they make the game. Hopefully similar to the first

    While a Japanese woman of a rival clan that lost to the Tokugawa and was forced into exile in Hokkaido is a really cool story premise, I really wish our protag was Ainu. We have endless games playing as Japanese characters, but very few if any where you can play as Ainu, especially a big, modern, and popular AAA like this.

    Emishi means Barbarians
    Ainu means last people of the sun.
    Japanese are mix of Yayoi from Korea and Jomon tribes, which became Yamato.
    After late 1690 Jomon tribes are called Ainu as they still follow the old ways unlike Yamato.
    Also Hokkaido has been part of Japan since early 1600, But people think Hokkaido became part of Japan during Meiji era.

    • @Perceval777
      @Perceval777 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The Yayoi people most probably have no serious relation to Korea. There are way too many similarities with cultures from Southeast Asia. Whatever the influence from Korea, it came after the Yayoi had settled the Japanese archipelago.
      Concerning Hokkaido - it was considered a part of Japan during the Edo period but only formally. The Matsumae clan didn't control the Ainu, they were free to do as they wish as long as they weren't aggressive. The island was practically colonized during the Meiji period and thus it effectively became part of the Japanese state then.

      Sami people have some similarities with languages and Shamanism of northern Japan that doesn't mean both are related.
      Some even say Australian Aborigines, Sentinel island Aborigines and Jomon are same group which is idiotic.
      Also it's few samurai driven out went to Hokkaido with help from French declared themselves independent from Japan they got defeated and Hokkaido became Japan again.
      And people took it as Hokkaido became part of Japan at that time

    • @Perceval777

      @@Duluuuuuuuuuhbul I am talking about the Yayoi people, not the Jomon and Ainu people - the Yayoi people's religion is similar to religions in Southeast Asia, where the Sun deity is primary and the ruler is considered a descendant of that deity. On the continent, you see the deity of the sky as primary - Tien, Tengri, etc. In China, Korea and Mongolia the sky deity is the most important and you see the rulers associating with it. Also, the Japanese longbow itself is one of the best examples you have of Southeastern origins - the bows in Korea, China, Mongolia, Manchuria, etc. are short composite bows while the ones in Southeast Asia are longbows made from supple branches.
      The Jomon people (including the Emishi and Ainu), on the other hand, no doubt have Siberian/Northeast Asian origins.

    • @DJWeapon8
      @DJWeapon8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @KingsandGenerals Difference is that the 1st Mongol Invasion is a "monolothic" event, for lack of a better word. Its a massive issue for Tsushima during the time, but its also a very simple one.
      *Invaders wage total war on your home island and you must defend it by any means necessary.* You meet new allies and flare up old rivalries along the way, _but that's about it._
      Meanwhile, the *_leadup alone_* to what happened until 1603 Southern Hokkaido is a complex web of events involving a maze of politics and social issues involving several morally grey factions.
      Matsumae influence in Wajinchi, Ainu oppression at the hands of the Yamato and the insurgencies triggered by it, Tokugawa being titled Shogun and the onset of a new period in Japan, etc.
      I feel like such a setting is a waste for the kind of game they're going to make. A pretty looking cinematic Action Adventure game.
      Imagine if Fallout New Vegas, with all of its RPG mechanics, its vast writing and dialogue tackling the issues brought on by the NCR-Legion war, and its exploration of the politics and ideologies of all of its factions was just *_thrown away_* and was made into a linear FPS where we just kill the big bad mutant final boss and do odd jobs for random NPCs along the way instead.
      That's what I feel is going to happen with Ghost of Yotei.

    • @KingsandGenerals
      @KingsandGenerals  หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      I can't begrudge creatives taking liberties with history. I know that some history fans might find it in poor taste, but, anecdotally, each popular media set in history, whatever it is and no matter how historically flawed, still popularizes history and creates not only new history fans, but actual historians. A few of our PhD level writers cite Ridley Scott's Gladiator as the early inspiration for becoming historians. And we all know how inaccurate and flawed Gladiator is.

      *But it doesn't change the fact that said film **_is historically inaccurate and inauthentic and doesn't show much of the average Roman's life._*
      I guess the crux of my point is that:
      Most people would settle for Ghost of Yotei being like Gladiator.
      I'm looking for an Edo Jidai game more like *HBO's Rome.*

    • @ArmchairFilmCritic

      @@DJWeapon8 Rome has its own inaccuracies like the two main characters being at almost every important event in the rise and fall of Caesar and afterwards with the rise of Octavian even though there is no evidence for it and they are mentioned only once by Caesar, to Titus getting Cleopatra pregnant, to Caesarion surviving Octavians rise to power being examples. I get that you are seeing Ancient Rome through their eyes but nevertheless their involvement in the events depicted in the series is fictional.
      From what I can gather the historical consultant on the show stated the aim was to be historically authentic rather than accurate. Also it seems the historical Titus Pollo ended up switching sides and joining Pompey.
      In summary, Rome is not completely historically accurate.
