@@Peasham Because female warriors in feudal Japan (like with many historical settings) were relatively very rare compared to the male ones. @KingsandGenerals Difference is that the 1st Mongol Invasion is a "monolothic" event, for lack of a better word. Its a massive issue for Tsushima during the time, but its also a very simple one. *Invaders wage total war on your home island and you must defend it by any means necessary.* You meet new allies and flare up old rivalries along the way, _but that's about it._ Meanwhile, the *_leadup alone_* to what happened until 1603 Southern Hokkaido is a complex web of events involving a maze of politics and social issues involving several morally grey factions. Matsumae influence in Wajinchi, Ainu oppression at the hands of the Yamato and the insurgencies triggered by it, Tokugawa being titled Shogun and the onset of a new period in Japan, etc. I feel like such a setting is a waste for the kind of game they're going to make. A pretty looking cinematic Action Adventure game. Imagine if Fallout New Vegas, with all of its RPG mechanics, its vast writing and dialogue tackling the issues brought on by the NCR-Legion war, and its exploration of the politics and ideologies of all of its factions was just *_thrown away_* and was made into a linear FPS where we just kill the big bad mutant final boss and do odd jobs for random NPCs along the way instead. That's what I feel is going to happen with Ghost of Yotei.
I can't begrudge creatives taking liberties with history. I know that some history fans might find it in poor taste, but, anecdotally, each popular media set in history, whatever it is and no matter how historically flawed, still popularizes history and creates not only new history fans, but actual historians. A few of our PhD level writers cite Ridley Scott's Gladiator as the early inspiration for becoming historians. And we all know how inaccurate and flawed Gladiator is.
@@KingsandGenerals All well and good that a historically innacurate and inauthentic film inspired a few of its audience to be interested and become professionals in thr study of the time period it based itself off of. *But it doesn't change the fact that said film **_is historically inaccurate and inauthentic and doesn't show much of the average Roman's life._* I guess the crux of my point is that: Most people would settle for Ghost of Yotei being like Gladiator. I'm looking for an Edo Jidai game more like *HBO's Rome.*
@@DJWeapon8 Rome has its own inaccuracies like the two main characters being at almost every important event in the rise and fall of Caesar and afterwards with the rise of Octavian even though there is no evidence for it and they are mentioned only once by Caesar, to Titus getting Cleopatra pregnant, to Caesarion surviving Octavians rise to power being examples. I get that you are seeing Ancient Rome through their eyes but nevertheless their involvement in the events depicted in the series is fictional. From what I can gather the historical consultant on the show stated the aim was to be historically authentic rather than accurate. Also it seems the historical Titus Pollo ended up switching sides and joining Pompey. In summary, Rome is not completely historically accurate.

If you have to straw man people to complain about them, you're just admitting that you have no argument against what they _actually_ say.
@@phatpat63 Huh??
Honestly, I still would've preferred a male protag for obvious reasons but if she actually has more personality than jin, I'm ok with it.
@@phatpat63Yeah, they're whining about a woman being a new protagonist of the series and the fact that her voice actor isn't straight.
@@anonisnoone6125I honestly think they should have had character customization so that the issue of gender can be fixed and people can play whatever gender they want although personally the female protagonist doesn’t really bother me since it’s not like we’re playing as an official samurai and Ghost of Tsushima has always been more about movie authenticity then historical accuracy
sHUKUSHAIN´S rEVOLT PLEASE NEXT!!!!!!!
Expect very little and you won't be disappointed
That is a bleak way of looking at humanity. Most people try to do their best.
I really wonder of the game world is just gonna be a bunch of untamed frontier given there weren't any larger Japanese settlements in Hokkaido during that time. That means no shrines, no temples, no towns except for one trading outpost, no pagodas, no castles except for one small one. Seems a little off-putting ngl
We will just have to trust in SP to deliver another banger... I think it'll be fine, but will just have to wait and see
We’ve already seen enough in the trailer to notice castles and temples. Have you not seen the trailer?
✌
Wait, didn’t you guys do a video on this already?
no
"Ghost of Yotei"... Well, I don't know what happened on Ezo (Hokkaido) in 1603, but I know what happened on Ezo and Karafuto (Sakhalin) in 1806-1807.
Those events could become a great vengeance story of one young Ainu hunter (huntress). en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Khvostov_Incident
It sounds like they missed an opportunity to showcase an Ainu protagonist. It does baffle me when these companies preach about diversity, so make the main character a woman where it feels more contrived, but then don't show a genuinely underrepresented group.
It's not contrived at all though?
@@Peasham Probably is.
@@evilduck1000 .. okay, how?
@@Peasham Because female warriors in feudal Japan (like with many historical settings) were relatively very rare compared to the male ones. So while not completely implausible, it's jarring to have one be the main representation of that context. Devs generally use a similar logic, in deciding to make none of the grunts you fight female.
@@evilduck1000Katanas and ninja techniques didn't exist by the time Ghost of Tsushima took place, nor did plenty of traditions that exist within, to say nothing of sword styles and techniques with it, yet no one considers Tsushima convoluted. But a woman who could've, for all we know, even been self-taught, as such people did exist in Japan and ESPECIALLY during this time period where everyone learned how to use weapons, is convoluted.
There were no female ronin.
Considering there were female samurai, and considering they could have lost their status and the lord they serve, that doesn't seem to be the case.
Who cares it's a fictional game and she's not a Ronin She's the Ghost
@@Peasham Those women served their husbands or lovers or fathers. They didn’t start off as soldiers and earn a Diamyo’s trust.
@@americameinyourmouth9964No, those women are samurai through and through, martial arts knowledge and everything, as EVERYONE who was a samurai had to know that and be capable, and that's just normal average samurai women, ignoring onna-mushas completely.
@@Peasham men have always possessed greater decisiveness and martial skill then women which is why there has never been, nor ever will be, a matriarchal civilization or empire. Only men build great states.
It's probably going to be woke, so it will fail sadly.
First one was woke and did gangbusters, so not sure that checks out.
I can't handle these weird over pronunciations from the voice over....
🎉🎉🎉
People need to accept that jin's story wad finished.
Why? I mean there is nothing they can do about it, but everybody who is disappointed has every right to voice their opinion.
Sucker punch already said that it wasnt.
They literally said they have plans to make a sequel
@@chivasroco1752Even when their sole complaint is this game has gone “woke”?😂
@@ItsJustCartier if it has, sure why not. Or are you of the opinion that complaints you disagree with should not be voiced?
I like that we arent being given more Jin, his story was told, the book was closed and now we open a new one, a new story, i new hero and and new villain
I hate when sequels try to force the continuation of protagonists, often to the point where they ruin the character so having this new protagonist is a nice way to continue imo
I got the feeling that *absolutely none of these detailed historical events and backstory would be used at all.*
First game used the backdrop of the Mongol invasion extensively. They will obviously take liberties, but the background should be similar.
@KingsandGenerals Difference is that the 1st Mongol Invasion is a "monolothic" event, for lack of a better word. Its a massive issue for Tsushima during the time, but its also a very simple one.
*Invaders wage total war on your home island and you must defend it by any means necessary.* You meet new allies and flare up old rivalries along the way, _but that's about it._
Meanwhile, the *_leadup alone_* to what happened until 1603 Southern Hokkaido is a complex web of events involving a maze of politics and social issues involving several morally grey factions.
*But it doesn't change the fact that said film **_is historically inaccurate and inauthentic and doesn't show much of the average Roman's life._*
I guess the crux of my point is that:
Most people would settle for Ghost of Yotei being like Gladiator.
I think it’s gonna be about revenge. I think something twisted and tragic really happened to Atsu’s family and she’s on the hunt for the perpetrators, hence the list of names she carried with her. It’s gonna be dark.
I do appreciate those of you that can afford to sustain this fine channel. It helps from getting stupider,I think.
I will be boycotting the game for not continuing Jin story

So why didn't you boycott the first game, for denying every avenue for the continuation of Jin's story?
