I was scrolling through Amazon and saw these hot rollers targeted towards long hair and of course I had to purchase them. There are so many hot rollers, but they're smaller in size and usually result with more of a body and bounce instead of a beautiful wave or curl. These hot rollers have a high price tag so they better perform. Have you tried these hot rollers that are advertised on QVC? How did they perform on your hair?

I have those rollers. I bought them quite a few years ago. I have long thick hair. They are the best curlers ever!
I think it’s an appropriate review. For those saying her rolling job is a mess, that’s probably how difficult it is to use these. If it takes practice to use, or 30 minutes to put in rollers, just use a curling iron - that’s my take away from the review. For $150 and 30 minutes I can get better results with an iron.
I agree. And she said she didn’t do a great job rolling. Also she said several times she needs to practice. I wouldn’t spend 150 for them regardless whether the hair wasn’t rolled “correctly” because they look too heavy and cumbersome.
There is almost no heat damage using the rollers yet you can have better hold because the longer you let them in your hair, the longer it will last.

I bought these back in 2015 and they worked amazingly AFTER you practice a few times and get the hang of it like she said. They are heavy, but you get used to them. Only downfall like she said was the unit or rollers can fail. I didn’t use for 2 years and went to use them and certain rollers didn’t heat. But if you have long hair these are key.

I've used hot rollers for 40 years. I don't think with hot rollers you get an exact curl placement. They instead give long hair alot of body and wave. I think if you want exactly placed curls do the curling iron. I think hot rollers are great. You can do your makeup while they are cooling. Then take them out and brush through lightly. The more you run your fingers down pulling down on the hair, the curl will fall out.

I would have liked to see you try these another time to give them a fair shake. Hot rollers need to be hot, so maybe they were not given enough time to heat up. Also, the rolling technique was all over the place, so a little practice on that would surely give a better result. And you also need to let the curls completely cool before messing with them. I don't have these rollers, but as a college student in the 80's, I washed, dried and hot rollered my hair every single day. I had that routine down pat. I'm curious if these would work for my daughter who has below the shoulder hair, but it's so thick I don't have enough rollers in my old set to get through all of her hair.
I think they're ok and definitely seem like they have a learning curve. I feel I could get better results with my Caruso steam rollers. I think it's neat that they're geared for long hair but I think there are too many inconsistencies with heat for the price. Thanks for reviewing these, you're always so thorough and your curls did look really nice.
Gorgeous! My all time favorite rollers. Took a little learning curve but I don't get creases anymore. Mine all get hot always. Going to check out the bundnt. 😊

This is basically why I gave up on hot rollers many years ago. Inconsistent curls, ridges, heavy, and it was a challenge to get them not to fall out of my fine hair.
I have this set in the short. They work great. I get curl and volume. I love them.

I have the original of these in long and standard size since they first came out years and years ago. I have hard to curl, super baby fine hair that is thick, 4.75" circumference ponytail. I used all twelve with the base for 6 rollers at a time. I like that they get hot and continue to heat. I could roll my whole head in just 12 rollers. Regular rollers take 24-30 to do that. My hair was a bit longer than her's at the time. They worked wonderfully so when I cut my hair, I got the short/medium size. I did buy extra clips at Sally's from Conair and extra short/medium curlers. I used two clips per long roller due to how much hair I had and how many sections I had to do because of the density of my hair. These were great. I did use a good humidity-resistant hair spray as my curl always falls out in a few hours with any other styler. The hair spray that came with the kits didn't work for my hair. It weighed them down. I used, and still do, Loreal Lock It Weather Control Hairspray. It works and doesn't weigh down my hair in the deep south humidity of Georgia. If you are used to using a curling/flat iron, you will notice the weight, but as you learn the best way to roll your hair, it all works out in the end. It takes four to five times longer for me to curl the density of my hair with an iron of any kind, so these were a Godsend.

I've had my conair hot rollers for years! They get hot. They're not too heavy but you definitely know they are there. I have wands and curling irons. All of these are used for different looks and styles. Obviously, you have to practice using all tools before you figure out how to use them on your hair.
I think if you had put the rollers closer to your head, placed them only vertically and then put a light spray of hairspray on before you started running your fingers through, the curls would've lasted longer.

also you can hold the roller itself still like a curling wand and wrap the hair around the roller held still close to the head and then clamp, They come out more like using a curling iron then.
I have these. You have to make sure that the rollers are pushed all the way down on the base or they don’t heat. I’m sure that’s why only half of yours are hot.

@@mmmmmmolly they may appear to be, but they need to sort of “click” onto the heating element.
I doubt it’s a coincidence that the first half worked and the second didn’t. Makes much more sense that a heating element wasn’t working
Wow I remember when I was a little girl (I’m now 53) my Mum had rollers like this for short hair. Most things these days seem to come back on trend, I think designers run out of ideas.

Any good hot rollers you need to heat for about 15mins. They need to be hot. Believe me!!! I have been using them for over 30 years. You need to have more time with getting used to using them. They are going to give you a better wave curl and bounce.

These rollers are terrific. Put 3 to 4 on the top of your head, then 2 to 3 on each side, followed by 4 to 5 on the back of you head. Watch some videos showing how professional stylists use hot rollers.

Both my sister and I have owned these. 😂 I found mine on Ebay for $39 shipped and loved them! (I no longer use hot tools on my hair as I'm now lazy.)
Edit: Mine heated up all at once.
I’ve used calista rollers before. Like the rollers but not the clips. I wound up using different clips and it worked better, less creasing.

Clip the hair up and work from the bottom up. Will be much easier with long hair and you can get closer to the root. If you have inconsistent sections and aren't close to the root of course you have inconsistent curls.
Also, with a longer roller dont take a larger section, wind from one end to the next...the width of the section should be NO MORE wide than the curling rod. So either wind from end to end or take a long skinny section

I think you didn't really do a fair review in that your rolling needs lots of work. That being said, I would return them because they are broken. Also I heat rollers for about half hour...not 3 minutes
I think the same. Although they say it's ready to use in 3 minutes, I would have waited more, until all of them were heated up. And maybe it's better to do only vertical and smaller sections.
Also... there is actual patterns to hot roller your hair/head. This was not one of them 😂

wow how the heck did you get the clips to saty on? i have long hair and have yet to find any claw clip pr any clips that will hold my rollers up any advice?
How do you keep your hair healthy with all the heat styling you do?? My hair is so fine and fragile. It’s not color treated, but even at its healthiest, I can’t heat style on a regular basis without frying my hair and ending up with a pixie 😞
I think there is a whole generation that didn’t grow up with heated curlers because hairstyles have been very straight or beachy waves for so long, heated curlers just haven’t been “in”. Like anything else, you just need practice to figure out how to get the look you want. I actually like the softer curls. However, I agree about those types of clips, they do crease. They used to have wire hooks that were better in terms of not leaving a crease. I wonder if they exist as an option and/or if they’d work with the weight of this type of roller.
I had a set of professional heated rollers that salons use and ended up giving them away..Dang I wish I hadn’t now, but in saying that, I would always roll my hair just in the normal way taking smaller sections of my hair and it would come out looking perfectly curled, I also had different sizes in my set for around the hair line, but the same kind of clips to hold them in, I’d also keep mine in for up to 30 minutes and they’d get quite hot, sometimes I’d just put them in the top of my hair to give a little bounce and body to the rest of my long hair that’s to my bra strap. I’d be sending those back because obviously they’re not all heating at the same time.

For really long hair you would probably require at least 2 sets of these rollers or even 3 depending on how thick your hair is as well as the length...it’s best not to put too much hair into heated rollers as the heat doesn’t penetrate through it all, only the pieces that are closest to the roller..😊❤️❤️

I have those and they make my hair very curly. I use it for the back which is harder to curl. My only complaint is the smell. They smell like burnt plastic. It doesn’t seem to impart the odor to my hair, per my husband.

When heating up the rollers, you need to make sure the rods are pushed down on the base.
Also you need more rollers. But I would send it back. Probably the whole heating system is bad and they didn’t get hot enough

Oh hot rollers. I remember all the girls coming to practices still in rollers and by first hour they magically had these beautiful curls. I could never get the hang of it. Pretty sure my mom cut her hair off in 1987 forever because she was sick of them 😂

It’s inconsistent because your sections are inconsistent. Thicker the section the less heat that can penetrate through so a looser wave

Conair makes the best hot Rollers. You should not have to transfer them from one place to another.
Oof. If you sectioned as evenly as you do when you are using your flat iron this would have looked way better. In general, if it looks like you haphazardly threw the rollers in with no rhyme or reason, your curls will be just as inconsistent.

I got these rollers for my daughter for Christmas from the Carlsta on line store They were On sale for $79. She loves them
I feel like if it’s too complicated to use by yourself without assistance then it’s not worth it.

It pained me to see you do a bad job rolling. You used a huge chunk of hair in the back for one roller and totally missed the right rear side of your head with one roller. And yes please let them heat up a bit longer to give them a fair shake.
