Religion doesn't deserve to be defended. Just because there are rational people who eschew the parts of their religious texts that they deem to be too extreme or outdated, doesn't mean that they are the true representations of that religion, or that the religion itself isn't an awful thing.

I try to have conversations with people but they are simply so closed in their belief they ignore facts when it conflicts with their belief. Not only religious but political and economic. One guy thought that to be in the 1% of earners your income was in the billions per year and He is not alone because they all believe and defend a system they have no comprehension of. Their reality is based only in Belief, not only spiritually but political and economic. Its always the same response when the facts are presented, they simply shut off or get angry.
Race can take on two definitions. One is biological, and the other social. Jewish people are considered a race, but only socially. There is no good biological basis for it. For being a Jew is also a religious statement, as well as one of race identification. This is true, even though many jewish people can simply pass for run-of-the-mill Caucasians. Considering the vast majority of Muslims are not white, and also that they have a particular "look" to them. Muslims can definitely be considered a socially constructed race, more so than Jews.

I take issue with the notion that being anti-Islam is being racist. Islam is a religion.
