That means the trees were also frozen right ?
So this must mean that the trees became nonfunctional and hence the ice could melt due to sun's heat energy.
Also this happened like a cycle.
So does this mean that trees worked differently back then and because of evolution they have also changed over the time to facilitate adequate intake of CO2 ?

Biswa one correction, human evolution was accelerated, because we started walking upright to scan for predators in grasslands. We probably discovered fire because of grasslands ( wildifire) which we used to cook meat and hence our bodies received more nutrition and led to the development of bigger brains. There is a difference between correlation and causation.

If human history itself spans 24 hours from one midnight to the next, 14 minutes represents the time since Christ.

6:20 This would have been a good moment to take an interesting tangent to Terence McKenna's 'Stoned Ape Theory', a fascinating hypothesis which tries to find the causal factor for this - as Yuval Noah Harari calls it in 'Sapiens' - cognitive revolution. Basically the sudden, accelerated and hitherto unexplained dawn of language, creativity and imagination. The theory says psychedelic mushrooms containing the chemical psilocybin suddenly became a part of our ancestor's diets, which had 3 effects-
    1. Sharpened sensory inputs improving our defenses and making us better hunters in the grasslands
    2. Heightened arousal / Increased tendency to mate = higher chance of passing on genes, and
    3. 'The Trip' - abstract thinking. The ability to connect 2 seemingly random thoughts or to come up with concepts such as numbers, math, language, logic etc. This is how the ape like creatures became Gods of the earth. Such a trippy theory.

Well I'm not the first one to complain about Indian education system and am surely not going to be the last. So here I go- Indian education system is so closed system till 12th std that we don't have Geology in school. It is not just about collecting rocks as Sheldon says. It is the subject which deals with the grandeur of our existence and the shear no. of processes which had undergone on this unique wet ball of ours for billions of years before we came around. Being a Geology major, I find that general public don't know the subject well and think we just stare at rocks, but when we explain the bigger perspective of our study, the field becomes so much interesting. Felt like sharing.

A point that I thought was worth mentioning: Jupiter and Saturn are actually considered Gas Giants, whereas Uranus and Neptune are considered Ice Giants.
Gas giants are planets mainly composed of Hydrogen and Helium whereas Ice giants are mainly composed of elements such as Oxygen, Nitrogen, Carbon, etc. which are heavier than Hydrogen and Helium.
