What Rand says about sexual relationships in _Atlas Shrugged_ conflicts with what she shows. She shows that several of the villains are more successful at attracting women than the allegedly "better" male characters she wants us to identify with. Rand even says that Wesley Mouch had a sexual relationship with the actress Laura Bradford, before she moved on to Kip Chalmers.
Consider how striking that is, given the way Rand portrays Mouch: Wesley Mouch got laid? And with an actress?!
Meanwhile, Galt's Gulch has filled up with single Men of the Mind who mysteriously lack women in their lives. Even Eddie Willers, a minor hero who didn't make the cut, apparently never had a girlfriend well into his 30's. It's like Rand is showing that the collectivist men are attractive to women because they are integrated into their society, while most women find the alienated, individualist male characters a turnoff.
And this reflects what often happens in the real world: The bad boys get the girls, while the productive, responsible chumps have to go without female companionship for much or even all of their lives. The nerds can fill their lonely hours with extra work, of course, which makes them more money; but they still go home to empty beds.
