- a trip out to a DAF XF for a WIPER FAULT soon turned into a FUSEBOARD repair and a SHORT TO GROUND diagnostic for me on the DAF XF EURO6 truck.

Hey man, great video, just thought i would say i found a much easier way to get to the motor is from the drivers footwell, remove the black foot rest and pull the long rectangular panel away slightly you can actually get your arm up to unplug and there is 'just' enough room to pull the motor down and out (with abit of swearing) i swapped it once the way you just did and though there has to be an easier way! Anyway, give it a try next time and see how you get on! Saves removing dash panels and saves alot of time! My best was 25mins start to finish. Both ways get the job done anyhow 👍

Good that you repaired the fuse holder and not simply swap it.
Hey, thanks for the comment 😎👍 if I could have got a hotter iorn, I'd have swapped the fuse holder with the one I piggy backed onto, but I did what I could at the time with what we had going 😅

Thanks for the comment mate. It's why I started putting them on social media. It's to pay what I've learned at DAF as a master tech forward to younger people who don't know how or what they are doing.. It's been a big learning curve editing videos and you certainly don't get paid well for spending hours editing videos 😅😅😅
Excellent job repairing the fuse board! One has to give Daf credit for making all connectors "poke-yoke", not all manufacturers do that. Makes production and repair much easier. Do you know about the variable interval on this Daf? I doubt any driver does....

Ha ha ha 😂 unfortunately the days when you could fix these things without product knowledge are gone I think. But you are right..... some petrol and matches would be better sometimes 😂

There is a reinforcement panel for the wiper motor where it’s cracked which is fitted to later models.
Hey Franz 😎 thanks for the comment 👍 I thought there would be, I would have included the part number for it if I had time to search for it.
He would have sell a kidney to pay for the bill if he went to Daf with that fault (New circuit board,motor, relays plus wiper assembly no doughty.)You saved the guy££££££.
Oh most definitely mate. The amount of times I wanted to fix stuff at the dealer and it has to be fitted with "brand new" off the shelf parts is another reason I left. I'm free to repair adblue pumps, VTG actuators...you name it now, I will have a go! Along as its a suitable repair and not a bodge I'm happy to do it 👍
Think I changed about 300ish for fixing the board and the wiper motor replacement 😅

I have a 2018 XF and I also had a wiper motor replaced. A while later they started giving trouble again andnthey replaced a relay. Now recently they have started to give trouble again.
I reckon it's the control stalk. They work on the intermittent setting, randomly on speed 1 but don't get any faster speed on setting 2.
I had a 2003 XF years ago and it also done the same thing. Had the stalk replaced and everything was perfect after that.
Is that something you've come across before?

I have come across this issue before but if I were to try and diagnose a fault like this I'd be using my jaltest to operate the wipers remotely through the ECU and then compare that to the issue with the wiper stork functions. If it works through the computer.....I'd be fitting a stork 👍

Good job my mate! That's stupid because they put the wiper motor inside the cabin, it's a lot of work to get to it, but anyway you did a good job! I am waiting for a video where you repair a VTG actuator and explain the common faults.

I'm going to do a video soon I've one I'm doing on the fuel system and how to diagnose it then I'm going to do the one for the actuator I think but realistically I could do people not calling me out for me to get it done 😅

Hey buddy 👋 hope you're well 😎. The chances of it being the wiring are slim as you found out but getting to it is just a nightmare isn't it!
@@TRUCKTECHUK I even had problem trying to fix the adblue problem .my jaltest wasn't any help so I let the client drive the truck like that .but after 2 months whe I diagnose it again the it show me the oil sensor was getting bad so when I replaced it .all the adbue problem was gone but the funny part was it didn't show me the first 2 months ago thY is was the oil pressure switch

We have new daf lf 45s,.. have wiper faults, its usually one of the 2 wiper relays that play up... power on / off , i think. 😊,
