    Hi! Hiked to the primitive camp in Sheep Canyon with a church group back in the '70s and loved to go there with my wife in our Scout in the '80s. Was so much fun taking our three wheelers and riding up and down the stream before they closed that section and bypassed it with that rocky climb (and required street legal only vehicles on Anza Borrego dirt roads). In those days, for long sections, the stream was the road through much of Lower Willows. We only drove through Middle and Upper Willows to Anza one time, really nice drive and she was petrified going up the road along the hillside at the end. It's a shame that the route is closed now, but with SoCal overcrowding it's probably for the best. We were there last in the early '90s after they had created the bypass with the short rocky hill climb and took a stock Jeep Cherokee 4x through both ways. Anyway, thanks for the video and bringing back some memories.

    I miss being able to drive all the way from Borrego Springs up to Anza, CA, then back again if it I wanted, via this trail. Did it a few times in my Scout.

    Love your videos! Coyote Canyon is one of my favorite trails, due to it's beauty and how isolated it gets once you get to the sheep canyon area. A great campground as well! I'd ride with you anytime!

    Did not recognize the Jeep until i saw the license plate. Great video and write up. Was googling the location to plan a trip up to see the flowers bloom this weekend.

    the desert tortoise! what a great find. seeing that would have made my day. I've been out there before and haven't seen 1 yet.

      +Arthur Guinness He was a very cool find and had to have been pretty old for his size... but I'm no tortoise expert! Unfortunately, we spooked him as we walked up and he and wasn't interested in coming out, so that was the best video we could get. Thanks for watching!

    Excellent video, liked the music you picked for the video. My wife and I did the same trail a few years back, it was a real challenge for a truck camper.

      +Bearded Jeeper There are over 100 of those sculptures in Borrego Springs scatters around, they are pretty fascinating. Thanks on the 100 and no doubt you'll be passing that mark shortly. I am truly humbled by all the folks that view and subscribe.

    Gate locked 5 miles in. The trail after this provides the most challenges, so it's a major bummer.

      The trail is always closed October to May during the big horn sheep migration.

    Hello again!
    What's the purpose on the antenna on the back?
    Thanks!

    • @TrailRecon
      @TrailRecon  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      CB radio antenna, best way to communicate in groups out on the trail. Thanks for watching!

    • @TrailRecon

      Easy the whole way until you get to that rocky hill climb, then a little clearance and 4 low come in handy. Love this trail, very scenic!
